I have a weakness for unique foreign treats. I wouldn’t have gotten grape except for the call-out that it’s superior to what we get, so congratulations on making me buy one of each.

I like gummy candy and I’ve liked Japanese candy I’ve tried, so what the heck. In for both flavors.
What did I buy again?
My wife likes this stuff, but if I ask her she’ll say “No,” so I just bought 5 boxes… and won’t tell her, just leave 'em out one box at a time.
Wish me luck.
@yakkoTDI You’re right! Sadly, I can’t carry a tune in a bucket & can barely get through Chopsticks, but if you decide to form a band & use it, just be sure to mention me in the liner notes of your first album!
@mediocrebot show me a ragged perfunctory theory with someone who vaguely looks like Melissa Rauch and has blue eyes with a strong tint and can’t spell or do even basic math
Bought a package of each. I hope the grape flavor is that super artificial tasting grape flavoring. Why, you might ask? Well, you know how scents and flavors can strongly evoke associated memories? The aroma or taste of artificial grape flavoring instantly transports me back to 1973. I was a junior in high school, and I had a very pretty girlfriend who was a senior. And she always wore GRAPE lip gloss! No strong memories associated with lemon… I just like lemon!
I really wasn’t going to bother with these since I’m still working on the gummy bears, but after reading the comments and reviews, it got my curious. In for one of each.
If you really like that good grape flavor, may I suggest also looking into the Japanese brand Kasugai, they make gummies in muscat grape flavor that are insane
So [from an Amazon review] the ingredients in the grape flavored candy are:
"The actual ingredients are not listed on the commercial packaging (Box).
So here they are from the individual packs : SUGAR, GLUCOSE SYRUP, WATER, CONCENTRATED GRAPE JUICE, GELATIN, CITRIC ACID, DEXTRIN, SORBITOL, CALCIUM CARBONATE, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, TRISODIUM CITRATE, PECTIN, ASCORBIC ACID, VEGETABLE JUICE (COLOR), MONO-AND DI-GLYCERIDES, MANNITOL."
@PhysAssist “…naturally juicy and authentic taste.” The other day I saw actual lemons and grapes at a farmers market (although they spelled it “graps”).
Sing it with me: “Eight teaspoons of sugar helps the CITRIC ACID, DEXTRIN, SORBITOL, CALCIUM CARBONATE, TRISODIUM CITRATE, PECTIN, ASCORBIC ACID, MONO-AND DI-GLYCERIDES, AND MANNITOL go down…”
@johnjac@snapster assuming linear trends, the 10th serving would have 0 calories. If beyond that, the calorie trend continues negative, then at 19 servings, you would net 0 calories overall.
As to sodium, you would hit 100% (actually 2475, but close enough) at the 30th serving.
I don’t care for gummys at all so makes it easy to resist.
Back when gummy bears first came out they were tolerable, but the fact that every fucking thing is gummy these days, well my tolerance seriously decreased.
Now, give me some 1960s era spice drops (how they were made not ones made that long ago) and … well … I have to seriously ration myself.
Memory unlocked: My mother made ‘spice cakes’, sorta like a fruit cake but made with spice drops not dried fruit and soaked with enough brandy to get us all drunk.
@paulgdeaton They don’t do it by quantity or dollar amount, they do free shipping for memberships (which you can then cancel for the following month if you want.)
@Ignorant@SirLouie Also the reason we got single- serving wrapped Stroopwafels. The legend was they were destined for international airplane flights, many of which were canceled for a few months.
For an unknown reason the Stroopwafels keep coming back though.
@Ignorant Oh. I didn’t realize. I’m happy for the fun stories I have from the Drop, but I’m sad for those who were affected because of it. I appreciate the explanation.
@pmarin At first, my brain imagined a flight attendant servicing a passenger: “Here is your Stroopwafel … and your 10 pound bag of pasta. Can I get you anything else?” LOL
@Ignorant@pmarin@SirLouie Interesting
I have gotten them that way sent by my friends in the Netherlands before they became readily available here in the US. In fact, it was the way he always sent them.
@DrunkCat@ItalianScallion Yes I had a room-mate that did that because it’s what his mother did for him. It’s like, Dude, you’re grown-up, we can deal with pasta length ourselves now!

Oh, wow, this is Japanese, so pretty much almost guaranteed to be good.
@ShotgunX I bought 'em because of your post…
@JohnQ118 @ShotgunX
dammit, these are really good
Finally the return of pasta drop!
Fettuccine, made in Japan, by Bourbon.
faux fettuccini?
i’ll bite
@phendrick Don’t forget to chew.
@phendrick So, is there a Bourbon fettuccine sauce to go with this?
@phendrick Or you could just wash them down with some Pappy Van Winkle…
I have a weakness for unique foreign treats. I wouldn’t have gotten grape except for the call-out that it’s superior to what we get, so congratulations on making me buy one of each.
@djslack I bought 3 Grapes because of YOUR post.
@djslack I bought 4 grapes not because of your post but because I felt like it. Then I returned them all because of your post.
@djslack @phonepole I’m detecting a certain amount of “sour grapes” here.
@djslack @phonepole @werehatrack
@JohnQ118 You know what goes great with these? A timeshare in Boca… whisper at me if you’re interested.
@djslack @phonepole I bought one of each because of your reply.
@ircon96 I bought 4 timeshares in Boca because of your post… wait.

@remo28 I bought both flavors because of YOUR post.
What sauce pairs well with this?
@Num1Zero Crème Anglaise
@heartny @Num1Zero Frutti Diavolo
@Num1Zero Teriyaki
You had me at candy.

Wish me luck.
@JohnQ118 Extend the fun and leave out one pouch at a time.
@JohnQ118 @yakkoTDI As they say, it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission.
Was going to buy 2 but then I realized I still had a coopin.

In for 4.
/giphy whiny-calamitous-range
In for both flavors! And for what its worth, our inventory is not melted/congealed like some Amazon reviews say. I had 'em checked today.
@troy Spoilsport. Now I can’t ask you to send me a carving knife to separate them.
@troy @werehatrack Awww, we’re never gonna have another candy corn fiasco at this rate!
@ircon96 @troy @werehatrack
That sounds like a great band name.
@troy @werehatrack
@yakkoTDI You’re right! Sadly, I can’t carry a tune in a bucket & can barely get through Chopsticks, but if you decide to form a band & use it, just be sure to mention me in the liner notes of your first album!
@ircon96 @troy @werehatrack @yakkoTDI Also a great brand name for the confection.
The virtual grandkid adores gummies. The S.O. likes gummies. In for one of each.
dammit
@werehatrack does the virtual grandkid virtually eat the candy???
@TimW The virtual grandkid is real, it’s the relationship that’s virtual.
glad I caught myself and didn’t abbrev “virtual grandkid” down to the initials there. That would have been Wrong.
@tinamarie1974 How funny! You got your wish - sort of?
@Kyeh I saw that @Joest must work miracles
@tinamarie1974 It’s @jouest
@jouest @Kyeh DOH!!!
Sorry @Jouest!!!
Oh hell yeah! One of each.

/giphy huge-ripe-cook
I had to go back and get two more. Sour gummy candy is one of my very favorites. A1C be damned.

/giphy crummy-madly-sushi
@Pony That’s what meds are for!
@Pony The cook doesn’t look huge to me, but maybe that’s because there isn’t a banana for scale.

Ugh, I’m done with autocorrect
@DVDBZN I call it auto incorrect.
@DVDBZN @yakkoTDI Me too! Another example of the gr8 minds phenomenon.
I really wasn’t going to bother with these since I’m still working on the gummy bears, but after reading the comments and reviews, it got my curious. In for one of each.
Sugar?
@terrry …Ray Robinson?
@ircon96 @terrry … Ray Leonard?
These would make a terrible Alfredo.
@ircon96 They don’t make a good Julio or Juan either.
@yakkoTDI I don’t know about those scrubs, i only have eyes for Alfredo!
Ahh crap. It had me until I read sorbitol in the ingredients. Migraine trigger.
@EvilSmoo That sucks. I don’t know what i would do, it’s practically one of my food groups!
Be careful everyone if you have pets. Just a small amount of Sorbitol can be fatal to small dogs.
@kenrose Sorbitol is mostly safe for dogs, it can give them some stomach issues if they eat a decent amount, it’s xylitol that’s toxic for dogs.
/giphy tangy-wayward-potluck

OH MY GOD THEY LADY-AND-THE-TRAMPLED GLEN!!!
@shahnm [reflects on the image] “Look how they massacred my boy”
If you really like that good grape flavor, may I suggest also looking into the Japanese brand Kasugai, they make gummies in muscat grape flavor that are insane
Unusually, I didn’t see anyone comment on the ingredients that are in these.
[Except for @EvilSchmoo commenting re: sorbitol]
So [from an Amazon review] the ingredients in the grape flavored candy are:

Because inquiring minds want to know…
@PhysAssist

@PhysAssist Didn’t look at the pictures, I see.
@PhysAssist “…naturally juicy and authentic taste.” The other day I saw actual lemons and grapes at a farmers market (although they spelled it “graps”).

@MrNews
Mmmmmm! Glucose syrup.
Would be hilarious if it was made from blood…

Never eat just half a bag. Somehow the 2nd half has less calories than the 1st. Truly ground breaking candy technology.
@johnjac subtract 10 calories from chewing the first half?
@johnjac @snapster and yet somehow the second half has more sodium
@snapster @ybmuG How many servings would I have to eat to get to zero calories and 100% sodium?
@johnjac @snapster assuming linear trends, the 10th serving would have 0 calories. If beyond that, the calorie trend continues negative, then at 19 servings, you would net 0 calories overall.
As to sodium, you would hit 100% (actually 2475, but close enough) at the 30th serving.

@johnjac @meh @snapster @ybmuG Same for me, I also science in my spare time.

@Cerridwyn Spice drops are one of my favorites. I like the cake idea.
/giphy moping-rumbly-crack

You all convinced me to buy grape. But it is sold out. Starting the day with deep sadness.
@ChrisHBelAir same. Regret on missing out.
@ChrisHBelAir @gman1341 If you had started the day at the start of the day you would not be as sad.
@ChrisHBelAir @gman1341 @yakkoTDI I was up early. Bought. Went back to bed.
So are these actually just all the gummy worm rejects that didn’t pass QC inspection?
@macromeh Just approaching the marketing driven “Best Before” date.
Is this hinting at a resurrection of the pasta drop? I’m ready to feed my gluten need!
How many do I have to buy to get free shipping? It’s not that I am cheap… just asking for a friend…
@paulgdeaton They don’t do it by quantity or dollar amount, they do free shipping for memberships (which you can then cancel for the following month if you want.)
Gummi Fettucine was a character in that Coppola movie that bombed right?
I miss Pasta Drop.
@SirLouie it was a great time, though the delivery drivers might have other thoughts.
@pmarin @SirLouie I don’t miss the reason behind it.
@Kyeh @pmarin What was that? did they buy a warehouse that had pasta in it or something?
@SirLouie Covid lockdowns. Restaurants and suppliers needed to sell off excess product.
@Ignorant @SirLouie Also the reason we got single- serving wrapped Stroopwafels.

I’m bummed grape is sold out, since that’s right up @puppycat’s alley, but we’ll try lemon.
/giphy candid-antsy-chlorine

@Thumperchick Sorry! I’m partly to blame. I bought 4 grape and 3 lemon
@troy It’s fine. I’ll explain that some mean person on the internet beat us to her favorite flavor.
“AI” users break their pasta before cooking it.
@DrunkCat That’s a real challenge with orzo.
@DrunkCat There’s a special place in Hell’s Kitchen for people who break their pasta before cooking it.
@DrunkCat @ItalianScallion Yes I had a room-mate that did that because it’s what his mother did for him. It’s like, Dude, you’re grown-up, we can deal with pasta length ourselves now!
You jerks bought all the Grape! Didn’t stop me from buying the Lemon though
just to clarify, is this 1 10-pack box or 10 10-pack boxes?
cuz it says ‘10-pack Gummi’ - ‘10 for $5’
i mean i don’t want any, but 100 packs for $5 would be great if i did
@Noddy93 one 10-pack box for $5. We would absolutely state 100-for-$5 if we were shipping out 100 packs.
I mean… this is what $5 coupons are for, right?
/giphy maladjusted-quirky-cockroach

@capnjb I don’t think I want that.
@pmarin He can tap dance!
I actually have had this specific product (the grape flavor) from a local play n trade / arcade type store. I really enjoyed it!
Can’t speak on the lemon, but can confirm it is that Japanese grape candy style flavor, and not too overly sour or tart.
Well fuck. Busy all day and I missed the Grape flavor?! Damn it.
Meh, holla atcha boi if you have any extras or cancelations!
