@AaronLeeJohnson I initially thought exactly the same, I avoid vegan stuff like the plague…but these ended up being really good, I was pleasantly surprised!
@AaronLeeJohnson Given that gummi bears are made of gelatin, the potential for screwing them up is certainly there. They may not have in this case, but that’s not for a lack of opportunity.
@AaronLeeJohnson@craigthom@Kyeh
Ordered some of these last time for my vegan grandkids. They said they were pretty good. Had a chance to go to Nashville this weekend to see them so tried them myself. I had to agree. Wished at the time that I had ordered some for myself. Now I have the chance to do just that!
I took a chance on these last time and ended up loving them. They’re not like typical gummy bears (which I also like) but are kind of foamy with an interesting texture, and the flavor is really good. Buy some for $5, they’re tasty.
Dashing and daring, courageous and caring
Faithful and friendly with stories to share
All through the forest they sing out in chorus
Marching along as their song fills the air
Gummi Bears!
Bouncing here and there and everywhere!
High adventure that’s beyond compare!

They are the Gummi Bears
I was skeptical when I got these last time they showed up on Meh. It turns out they are legitimately just tasty fruit gummies with an atypical but still very good texture. Nothing unexpected or off-putting from this being a vegan marketed product.
Not to rain on everyone’s gummy parade. I am a huge gummy animal fan. Haribo is my preferred manufacturer, with the twin snakes being at the top of my list. I will eat most gummy products, but these are not even on my list. They have an unpleasant flavor, texture, and aftertaste. My brother bought a separate order and I quote “ Mine get a little foamy. But they have a serious funk.” So your miles and palate may vary. Definitely not a rebuy for me, but at this price give it a whirl.
@dschonew I agree. Didn’t care for the taste. Gave away 19 of the 20 bags I bought to some older kids that came by on Halloween, and let them know about the expiration date being euro format. A couple of them asked if they had to be age 21 to injest. Not THAT kind of gummies, you rascals!
I’m going to join the chorus and say I bought these last time and they’re actually quite good. I still have a shitload of them, so I can’t buy any more but I recommend that you do.
@djslack I don’t know what the neighborhood kids were doing on Halloween but it wasn’t picking up gummy bears at my house. I guess I have to eat the last forty bags.
I got 100 of these to give out on Halloween. I was tapped out by 7:30.
They’re fine. I don’t like them as much as gold bears but they’re serviceable and this is a crazy deal. I heard from people I gave them to that they’d get them for dollars a bag at Target and similar places.
I actually really like the Santa Monico not foamy version of these (ala Delta snack basket) but know that they have the texture of swedish fish, not a gummy bear. Not sure how these “foamy” ones will be.
I like these! Of course, I got the 20 pack deal for $10 a few weeks back. This would have been more manageable. That being said, I have several vegan friends who gladly took a large amount off my hands.
If I still had the shipping subscription I would probably get more of these even though I still have quite a lot, because they’re good. But I’m overloaded on snacks in general and don’t really need anything else, so I’m not signing back up just for these.
Point being, this is a recommend, the price is very reasonable and the candy is tasty (if you like a milder not-too-sweet candy.)
Add me to the chorus of satisfied previous buyers.
I will say that for someone who doesn’t love raspberry flavor (me), these are much more raspberry forward than cherry forward (which are the two flavors listed on the bags). They aren’t separate, either. It’s not like there are cherry gummies and raspberry gummies; they’re all the same flavor.
Anyway. Texturally they’re pretty great. I just can’t eat more than 10 bears at a time before my taste buds start rejecting the razz flavor.
@arysta I’m mildly concerned that you can reference the flavor of butts as a comparison to the flavor of these gummies. I know Jelly Belly makes disgusting flavored jelly beans. Don’t know if they make butt flavored beans.
I’ve been wondering for a while now why all candy is gummy. Is it because humans are evolving into a toothless species, or are gummies just so cheap and easy to produce that they’re more profitable than anything else?
Maybe more of a question for the Shoddy Goods investigative team.
Last time these were sold, I think there was a choice between regular and foamy versions. Today’s image says they’re foamy, but the text doesn’t mention it and there’s not a choice in the buying process.
Everyone here in the forum seems to think they’re foamy, is this the case?
ETA I guess the choice was on Side Deal because I had to go back and cancel one order to get the foamy ones. (Or else my memory is faulty, which is not out of the question )
@dave@troy - Sorry, but I was correct. I inadvertently created a different account on Side Deal, but the order for non-foamy version that I canceled is gross-rotten-promqueen, and the reorder for foamy gummies is shrieking-weeping-barbarian. Both from 10/25/24.
I trust you can look it up if you wish?
@dave@troy - Okay, so I’m looking at both - one offer was for 20 bags, the other for 10 bags. The ingredients are exactly the same. You are probably right, but one of them has “foamy” in the product title, and the other doesn’t. I guess I’ll find out when they get here.
The main problem with us selling these is that I have unopened bags of them right next to my desk, and it keeps making me think I should probably open them and eat them now.
We stopped in a World Market last night to pick up something that’s only readily available from them, and they had this exact flavor of Vegobears available in the same exact size of bag, at a price of $4.99 per each. These are a tenth of that. Fortunately for me, I had bought two boxes in the original sale and another off of side deal, so I’m set for as long as I’m likely to want them.
I will now task the buyers to go out and find an outrageous deal on Wiley Wallaby licorice in any of its flavors, most particularly including the ones that aren’t actually licorice. That’s another confection which has a slightly odd flavor, and isn’t truly aimed directly at the American mass market and its total infatuation with overly sweet and merely fruity stuff.
But no Peeps. Not even the green bunny ones that can be converted into Cthulhu Peeps.
@TheFLP@Wormwood And use kitchen scissors to split the ears lengthwise.
This was a Thing We Always Did at our annual Chocolate Decadence party, the final instance of which was in 2019. That one was also the Remembrance Gathering for my partner, Lee.
I had a hard time finding the green bunny peeps this year, and the purple alternate color was not to be had at all.

“Best By” does not mean expired – these will still be good at least through the holidays!
Can’t quite verify the second point since mine are best by “06 12 2024,” ie Swedish for December 6. But I tend to err on the side of eating things and worrying about expiration dates later.
wife is obsessed with the gummy version of these. she flies Delta a lot and her nightstand drawer is just packed with them. don’t know if she’s ever had the foamy version since delta only has the gummy
I took a big gamble on these last time and found out they are delicious. If I was lower on my current supply (I bought 4 boxes last time) I’d definitely order more.
I just wish there were more than two flavors in the bag.

I guess there’s nothing wrong with this. I’m just so biased against Vegan stuff, I always assume it’s bad but you can’t screw up Gummi Bears.

I find it basically impossible not to eat a whole bag at once. Already into the second box, so 10 is like not nearly enough.

I bought these last time. They’re pretty tasty. Very sweet. I enjoy the foamy texture.
I think these are good. My husband hates them.
none of this talk about “foaminess” is making me want to try them.
@walarney It’s a bit like marshmallow. With less sugar and stickiness.
@TheFLP @walarney I would argue the reverse. This is like a marshmallow but more sugary (but not as sticky).
Kind of like a Lucky Charms candy marshmallow, but not as crunchy.
@pakopako @walarney I must ponder this question. With a bag of Vegobears.
Could I eat a 3.5 oz bag of marshmallows in one sitting? I wouldn’t think so, but maybe that’s because marshmallows taste like marshmallow, not fruit.
I’ve given up pretending to restrain myself — I just cut a bag open below the zipper.
