@badger65 Same here! I used to hate to drag around the boat-anchor sealed-lead-acid inflator I had, so I bought this one from Costco on a lark and it’s terrific. Well, it’s terrific for car tires; topping off truck tires before summer trends to exhaust its charge after two or three tires, depending on how low they were to start, of course.
Oh, I also read about this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099SBMBJV in a Sl!ckdeals thread a few years ago and even though it was a little more than I wanted to pay for a hose with a couple of fittings, it makes inflating tires even easier than screw-on-screw-off…
I have another inflator in my truck and a friend’s Ford F350 Powerstroke Diesel recently got a flat and when I showed up with that inflator and that hose, I know he was at least a tiny bit relieved for the hose’s quick-connect feature since he was pretty exhausted from crawling around on the asphalt, plugging the tire, trying to unlock the spare with his valet key (which, we later learned, is not how the spare is accessed), etc.
@Num1Zero@troy Or keep one in the trunk with a slowly-depleting battery, and a second with better state-of-charge near your domicile’s entry portal to transport to the location where soft air has been detected.
I will decline to comment on the relative merits of keeping anything with a lithium battery in the trunk of a vehicle whose fuel reservoir may be below or just forward of that area.
@dbird NM. Here’s what the google AI says: The Fanttik X8 and S100 Apex tire inflators differ primarily in size, intended use, and some features. The X8 is smaller and better suited for motorcycle and bike tires, while the S100 Apex is larger, more powerful, and designed for car tires. The S100 Apex also boasts a longer air tube, USB charging port, and an SOS beacon light.
Looks like the S100 is a Costco special also. I don’t see it anywhere else, but I haven’t looked very hard.
@dbird@jcauseyfd As far as I know, there is no difference between the X8 and S100. Both have a 7800mAh capacity and they are the same size – the X8 just has sweet racing stripes and a different button
I got one of these last time, not sure if refurb or not. Was $29. Bigger and more solid than I expected. Powerbank functions and inflator seem good. This would not be one to take with a bike on a day trip; it would be overkill and too much weight. But good to leave in car to air up tires (bike or your vehicle). I see from a previous comment they do make a smaller model might be better to take with a bike,
Bought one from prior sale here. Used it once to top off 4 larger tires. Pretty much used the entire battery charge. But it worked well. Re charge time is pretty long. Bought another last mehrathon. Funny thing I have an air compressor that I do not use in favor of these type devices. Keep similar device on motorcycle and in my truck. So there we go.
@rustyh3 So it used up the charge just topping off four tires? Was it just 1-2 pounds each? I have an SUV, not exactly monster truck or Ford F---- level tires, but when I’m a pound or two low during winter I figure these are easier than getting out a large air compressor.
@Artimid@rustyh3 I thought it was impressive that it could do that at all, though it is larger than the bike-size one I imagined (no banana for scale)
But here is my solution for truck/RV tires: power-tool systems with batteries. I usually pack some tools with me (been buying too many) so mostly have Milwaukee and DeWalt. Things like a drill and impact wrench. Good If you already use a power tool system buy an inflator from that line. They are bigger and heavier-duty. And if you pack an extra battery you should be good to go in any case. I recommend the Milwaukee M18 inflator. Other brands include Rigid, Ryobi, Makita.
TL;DR recently been using a small VW Jetta I inherited from my mother. I’m going to pack this Fanntik (in this deal) in a small kit of stuff for that car.
Instead of a two pack of the same item. You would have sold more if you paired the screw driver on side deal with the air pump on meh.
Missed opportunity.
I bought a similar model last time it was on here. It works well, but the Presta valve adapter is kind of a pain. It’s tricky to screw on and off of the valve, and it keeps leaving the little rubber grommet behind when I remove it. They sell a replacement hose that uses a chuck instead of screwing on, and I might pick one of those up at some point.
Bought 2 of these and got a 3rd in an IRK. Kept 1, gifted the others. Works well and has saved me from having to use the larger, heavy as hell air compressor.
Also have the screwdriver and I like it a lot. It’s saved me from having to bust out the drill several times and I’ve only had it a couple months. There are also times where I would have typically reached for a ratcheting or standard screwdriver but grab this instead and the task becomes considerably easier.
One con about the screwdriver is that it’s roundish so has the potential to not stay exactly in place if you need to sit it down momentarily but this isn’t an uncommon issue with screwdrivers and hasn’t been a bother. I’ve only charged it since the initial charge once and it wasn’t even indicating low yet.
Honestly tempted to get another screwdriver but with the quality of the one I’ve got, I’d prolly end up gifting it (them).
Anyway, I recommend both products, especially the screwdriver.
I bought one of these a couple months ago in a past offering. The unit was refurbished and seems to work well. The hose, however, was not refurbished as it has a hole in it, making the whole thing unusable.
Got one the last time and love it. The best thing about it is when you screw or unscrew it from the tire, you don’t lose air like you do with most of these!!
Meh! If you’re selling a power bank, you MUST POST THE CAPACITY, i.e. mAh rating!
But according to my limited research, there’s some posts on Amazon & Costco with the same (or similar) products that have ambiguous ratings with differences in advertising vs. product manuals.
@macgyver24x7 an earlier post mentioned there is another similar model (X8) which is smaller and more portable, and some sites were selling that model. Might explain battery differences.
I got one of these during the last Mehrathon and shortly thereafter my car let me know that I had low pressure in my rear left. That’s when I learned that my rears need 45 PSI which was surprising. This handled that with no issue.
@capnjb That seems a bit unusual to me. All the cars and SUVs I’ve driven usually specify inflation pressures of 32-35psi cold and the tires often have a max pressure of 45psi printed on the sidewall.
@capnjb I guess that makes sense for a large diameter low profile tire, lower rolling resistance too. They don’t want a bent rim just from going over small potholes. Might make for a harsher ride unless it has a really soft or good active suspension. I don’t think I’ve ever had anything bigger than an 18in 55 aspect ratio.
@kuoh I’m not much of a tire guy so I will yield the right of way to you there It’s got a bit over 300HP and the ride is amazingly smooth. But the actual speed you are driving is VERY deceptive. I once found myself doing 90 on back roads and I was like, no, no, no, no, no. It’s got an analog speedometer but it’s not really easy to read so I’ve set the center of my display to show the speed digitally. That helps And I stay away from sport mode…heh. That can be nuts.
@capnjb@kuoh I had an older 300E diesel, no turbo. Not a sports car off the line. But Once cruising at “highway” speeds it was easy for it to think you asked for autobahn speeds. (I did??) anyway local pleasurable 2-lane state highway, and coming out of a tunnel a nice officer was kind to remind me that it was only a 60mph limit and I was going at least 75mph. It needed a trip to the county clerk but if I paid a fee and didn’t get into “trouble” in the next year they wouldn’t process it ( provided I paid the necessary fees of course)
Those cars are dangerous (but safe) just because they can feel so effortless and smooth in the 60-100mph zone. Don’t get me started on what my Tesla can do and it’s the most basic version, and I tend to stay in “chill” mode and use cruise control (not self-driving) as much as possible because it will follow local speed limits (or go 3 or 5mph over… whatever you set)
An acquaintance has one of the extreme models and says he tries to go 100mph at least once each day. Which is nothing for his model.
@brandonlmoore once in Vegas I partied with some Amish kids on rumspringa and can confirm that the Amish margarita market is not 0, or at least it wasn’t in 2001.

@andymand @badger65 I do prefer the quick connect type, but this screw-on doesn’t lose pressure on disconnect like many do.
Selling a pair of refurbished items seems like a bad marketing choice. Buy 2 craps and hope 1 is less crappy.
@Num1Zero You can also keep one in both cars, keep one around if one craps out after heavy usage, or gift one!

I have one of these. Has worked absolutely solid so far with my motorcycle and three bicycles, and barely depleted the battery.

@sidepieces But then they would be missing the opportunity to get a hundred bucks from us instead of just 50.

I have to disagree. With the right blender you absolutely can make a margarita with this inflator. https://cottagecraftworks.com/off-grid-non-electric-high-speed-blender-food-processor
