I’m pretty tempted by these but notice that all the reviews at Home Depot are from 2020. If these have been sitting in a warehouse for 5 years the batteries might be not so happy.
@djslack the sample we pulled from stock and reviewed was mfgd in 2022. I tested the battery life through one cycle, playing at a moderate volume for 4 hours. The product says “up to 8 hours” battery life, presumably if played a lower volume. Hope this helps
The cultural relevance picture is a little known film by Charlie Chaplin. It’s from the 1950’s, made between Monsieur Verdoux (1947) and Limelight (1952). He played the role of Chuck Camellia, a nom-de-plume he assumed in honor of the real Chuck Camellia, who had saved his life at Normandy. In this scene he is attempting to impress the Liberty Village Topiary Society. His goal is to win the Golden Topiary Award, but he has to impress these “Ladies of the Woven Leaf”, as they like to call themselves, to advance to the next level.

Price for these online is all over the place depending on were ya look. Walmart seems lowest along with eBay and some obscure sites.
Also looks as these are years old and could have been part of a liquidation. The company that makes em is still kicking but primary company selling took a Dump.
That’s the best I could find out and I don’t think it’s all that reliable.
I love the idea and can already have uses, but taking a Hard Pass as I’m guessing the battery life will be significantly reduced. unless warranty via the manufacturer would be honored. I know Meh will make it right
@dahobbs9 If there was a tear-down by ifixit, then you could get a handle on the battery situation and the ability to swap them out. You could also just make a “facehugger” battery pack to keep them alive. Probably more trouble than it’s worth.
Came here to offer my exclusive extended warranty on this item. Full replacement value in the event of loss or damage due to sword tornado, at a reasonable cost.

@cfg83 @omally Did someone say moles?

These speakers look old. Are they as old as Tip O’Neill?
@phendrick

/image obi-wan a name I haven’t heard in a long time meme
Eww, sorry, had no idea it would bring up “pornstar” too. Now I’m thinking of Tip O’Neil with a pornstar. Double-Eww.
@phendrick Yeah, what’s worse is that they include stakes. Would you want to eat a stake that is older than dirt?

Where’s the docking station? Selling speakers on Meh without a docking station is just wrong!

@djslack unhappy old batteries the specialty here.
@djslack I’m gonna tag Buyer Brian @brogers here as he received and tested a sample

Thanks @brogers and @troy!
What other kind of deal a day place would do this? You guys are the best!
@djslack I did some digging, and it looks like they have the hard-to-replace spot-welded batteries, instead of nice packs of AAs or something.
Hard pass. They might not live to Spring.

@GregK I would prefer the warranty to cover sharknados.
@cfg83 @GregK What about cocaine bear conditions?
@GregK @IAmBroom Oh no, the gate is bursting …
This is why we can’t have good insurance anymore.
