@MrGoodGuy Yeah what is fishy is that it is a treat and not actual cat food to meet their daily requirements. The main page now added that this morning, but not before close to 300 people bought - that is at least 300 cats at risk of malnutrition and related illnesses because their owners thought this was actual cat food and not just a treat. The info above on this page though doesn’t mention that. At least not yet.
@Kidsandliz@MrGoodGuy Not related to this product but people should also know that Reveal wet cat food does not meet Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) guidelines and is also considered a compliment to normal food. I have told a few people this who were unaware and were buying cases of it at a pet store. Reveal dry food is listed as “complete and balanced” so does meeting the requirements.
@MrGoodGuy@WhoCares742 That is good to know. Thank you (not that I buy it but I had presumed if it was sold as animal food it met requirements. Obviously not.
In my experience, INABA products are very clearly marked as “Pet treat only” though most cats cannot read and the same may apply to their humans. (Of course, these same people might not read the warning that was added here.)
@Alien88 BE SURE to tell them these are treats and not actual cat food. It WILL NOT meet their daily food requirements. That has now been added this morning but not before close to 300 people bought thinking it was cat food.
@ironcheftoni In a comment below someone said on their website it says it is a side dish and not the “main” cat food so to speak so likely it doesn’t have all the nutrients it needs to be their only food.
@Kidsandliz For the friend, his partner passed away recently and their cat is mourning him and refusing to eat his regular food. He said the only thing the cat would eat was canned tuna and I figure this is better and maybe cheaper than that. I was getting some for my mom too. They eat dry food too and they get a sheba once a day as well. My mom has dementia and she gets overly concerned if the pantry is not stocked full of food. I’ve tried hiding the food so that she doesn’t feed them all the food at once. She will feed them ten times a day if I let her. I tried hiding the food but that doesn’t work either. She will instead try to feed them anything and everything in the apartment. Luckily the cats are picky eaters and have never eaten anything she has tried to give them.
@ironcheftoni@Kyeh BEWARE it is a cat TREAT and NOT actual cat food. If fed as actual cat food instead of actual cat food the cats will not get all the nutrients they need and will suffer malnutrition. That was NOT on the main page of the website prior to close to 300 people buying. It STILL as of this writing, isn’t on this page.
@Pony INABA addresses this on their Instagram page. They also state “Caffeine Free” on their FAQ yet clarify the miniscule percentages below. I assume their process for green tea extract is intended to eliminate caffeine while retaining the benefits.
@Pony AND it is a cat TREAT and not actual cat food. The main page did not make that clear this morning (after close to 300 people bought) and this page still doesn’t indicate that.
@troy - Please put this Feeding Instructions on the sale page and above on this page. This is VERY important for people to know. Feeding their cats for a month and a half with this thinking it is their main food will result in malnourished cats who could end up with serious health problems. Also be sure to contact anyone who has bought to see if they want to cancel because they didn’t realize this. @thumperchick I’m flagging you too as this is really important to happen ASAP.
@Thumperchick it was updated after. Thanks to @troy for doing so. Product specs still need updated on this page. I do see a meh member comment stating this was highlighted but it still needs to be in product specs.
My cat don’t much like the chicken in the crab juice. It does sound kinda gross. But the tuna!!! She loves it. I have bought so many boxes. I kinda think I got the last one. I went back just seconds later and thought I would grab another and they were gone. And I still got 3 box’s of the chicken in Chicken broth. And she loves it. She is a picky little critter. And I have to change it up every few days so these packets have been great. So I will get these and hope for the best. I LOVE MEH !!! Thank yall!!
@debdamndeal This is NOT a main meal for the cats. It’s a “side dish” so make sure your cat gets enough other food so they don’t end up malnourished. Meh left that out of the description.
@debdamndeal INABA addresses this on their Instagram page. They also state “Caffeine Free” on their FAQ yet clarify the miniscule percentages below. I assume their process for green tea extract is intended to eliminate caffeine while retaining the benefits.
@debdamndeal@troy Troy you need to add that to the main description both on this page and the main page and also that this is a side dish and not their “main meal”.
@troy Thank you. Thank you for adding it to the main page. I don’t see it above on this page in the product specs - you do have it in a comment but it also needs to be in the product specs.
Will you be contacting all the people who bought thinking it was cat food so they can cancel their order if they weren’t planning on buying cat treats?
That would also make sure they knew they bought a cat treats and not cat food so they wouldn’t accidentally malnourish their cat and potentially cause their cat medical issues.
Also I’d strongly suggest when these are packed to go out put in a meh created sheet that indicates these are treats and not actual main meal cat food; if they feed it instead of cat food it will cause their cat to become malnourished and potentially have medical issues. That should also cover meh’s butt legally to since you had close to 300 buy before they knew that (and as of this writing it still isn’t indicated on this page I am writing this message on).
@Kidsandliz We never specified that these were intended as a meal replacement. Our images include ingredient labels that specify the “Side dish” recommendation, which all customers will be able to read.
@troy But often people don’t look at all the photos. They just go off the product description. In this case that matters as those who don’t read everything will/would have presume(d) it was cat food, not a treat. It looks like cat food, the product description didn’t say it was a treat and not cat food. Because of what it is that makes a huge difference with respect to making sure customers that bought before you posted that in words in the main description (it still needs to be put in specs above and those who bought before you added it need notified as it a potentially deadly health issue for someone’s loved pet) don’t make the mistake of thinking it is cat food instead of a treat.
A cat will refuse some tasty food but then turn around lick their own asshole for hours. Just make a food flavored like cat assholes. Call it “Pink-Star-Kist” or “Balloon Knot”
I read on Reddit that there’s truckers that buy a case of this stuff and keep it under the driver’s seat in case of something awful happening (stuck in blizzard, etc). The theory is they can eat this to survive, but they would never eat this if they get the munchies on a long drive. Thought that was interesting.
Anyway, I’m not a trucker and I no longer have a cat so I’m skipping this one.
@steelopus And I’ll share it 101 times so that hopefully the people who bought it before the warning thinking it was cat food rather than a treat don’t feed their cats 48 days or it or more in a row as if it was cat food.
50 cents per serving to trick my cats into getting more hydration?
Probably important if your cats eat dry food. Naturally cats get their water needs from the food they eat so may not drink enough otherwise. It’s one of many reasons it is better to give your cat wet food rather than dry- they don’t really have a strong enough thirst mechanism to always get the liquid they need if they usually eat dry food.
I actually feed my cats a curated blend of sawdust, corn starch, and Quikrete and they always seem so stiff. I guess I’ve been doing it wrong my whole life.
Thankfully I have all these helpful people in the <checks notes> meh.com forums to teach me about cat nutrition! I never would’ve known without your help!
I’ve got enough of the fillets to last until just before the best by date. My cats love them dearly. Considering picking these up as a replacement when the fillets run out. Think I could hide compounded prozac in this? Pill pockets didn’t work with the tiny regular prozac pill, and cat turns her nose up at the compounded version. Finally got her to take one by putting it in a pill pocket, then rolling it in silver vine. It dissolves very quickly with any moisture.
@Kidsandliz I know. The filets are noon treats. I’ll sub these for the morning treats (dehydrated chicken - aka kitty crack) if cat will take her prozac in one.
@coreyward Since she has utterly rejected anything with the tiny compounded prozac in it, I don’t hold out much hope for liquid. The next step is a $$ transdermal version. Worth it if it stops her from peeing on everything. Yes, she has had lots of expensive tests to rule out anything physical.
@Wormwood But dashi is a word I know what to do with, and roux has that French x. Also hard to make though it’s simple ingredients; got to do the careful stir-stir-stir thing.
@therealjrn DO NOT FEED this as your mom’s main dish!!! You’re a monster who is killing your own mother if you do such a thing.
Make sure you only give this to your mom as a treat.
But don’t give it to her too much! Because that’s bad too!
In fact, you should just stay away from this altogether because it’s not a fully nutritious meal and it has green tea extract which has trace amounts of caffeine which could kill your mom immediately.
I will toss in a recent thing related to cat food here, as a potential cautionary note. A bit over six weeks ago, I started giving our cats Kirkland Salmon and Sweet Potato kibble, which they tore into willingly. A bit over two weeks ago, one of our cats started showing signs of urinary distress, and the vet found that he was not fully plugged up with struvite crystals, but it would not have been much longer before he would have been. One of the other cats (his mom, in fact) also showed slight signs of such distress. The rest didn’t, but that doesn’t mean that they were free of them, because cats.
When I went looking to see if anyone else was having this issue, I ran across a Reddit thread from two years ago with a number of people reporting the same problem. I hadn’t seen this flavor of kibble at Costco previously, and I’m sure that I never bought it before. I’m wondering if they withdrew it and then brought it back, but I have no information about that.
Anyway, we swapped over to a urinary-health formula of food for the cats in the back half of the house, ditched what remained of that Kirkland kibble, and isolated Squeaker (the one with the worst issues) in the bathroom, providing him with only overpriced Hills Science Diet Prescription urinary-health food. (He disdained their canned stuff, as I expected. He’s eating their kibble willingly. I have yet to see a cat eat Hill’s prescription canned food unless starved for three days first. We’ll mix the leftovers 50/50 with stuff they like in order to get rid of it.)

@Kidsandliz out of all places, I am sure they are aware of nutritional value and that it’s a treat and not food.
Yay, more cat food so I can show my mom that she has plenty of food.
/giphy fussy-humble-sycamore

@ironcheftoni Did you see they’ve got that other kind on Sidedeal too?
@ironcheftoni In a comment below someone said on their website it says it is a side dish and not the “main” cat food so to speak so likely it doesn’t have all the nutrients it needs to be their only food.
@Kyeh fantastic! I was going to send some of my stash to a friend for their cat.
@Kidsandliz For the friend, his partner passed away recently and their cat is mourning him and refusing to eat his regular food. He said the only thing the cat would eat was canned tuna and I figure this is better and maybe cheaper than that. I was getting some for my mom too. I was on board until I got to the part where it has green tea extract in it. GTE contains caffeine, which is very bad for cats. No thanks.
This isn’t a meal, it’s a treat. From the fine print on the packaging:
FEEDING INSTRUCTIONS: Feed as a side dish to your cat. This product is intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only.
@troy - Please put this Feeding Instructions on the sale page and above on this page. This is VERY important for people to know. @Kidsandliz @troy Not sure if this was updated before or after your tag, but it’s on the front page:
@Kidsandliz @Thumperchick Yep, I added
@Thumperchick @troy Thanks for fixing the main page but it needs fixed on this page too.
Are you contacting everyone who bought before they knew it wasn’t actual daily food that met their cat’s nutritional requirements?
@Thumperchick it was updated after. Thanks to @troy for doing so. Product specs still need updated on this page. I do see a meh member comment stating this was highlighted but it still needs to be in product specs.

@debdamndeal @troy Troy you need to add that to the main description both on this page and the main page and also that this is a side dish and not their “main meal”.
@Kidsandliz all set
@troy Thank you. Thank you for adding it to the main page. I don’t see it above on this page in the product specs - you do have it in a comment but it also needs to be in the product specs.

May well be like US food labeling… “Alcohol-free” and “fat-free” allow up to 1/2% alcohol or fat, respectively.
Given the tiny amount, I doubt it will have any effect on animals.
INABA??
Look, I’m having a difficult time keeping up with all of these new sportsball associations and their officially licensed products.

@OnionSoup That’s a great image. A little weird that the cat on the shirt looks like it’s been tempura-ed, though.
@Kyeh Yeah… mediocrebot did a good job. I don’t know about the shirt though, I think that’s great. Fits the “Tempurra”… I want that shirt!
This is one of the only stink meats my cats will eat!
In for A BUNCH
The video calling “dashi” a delicacy is like calling “roux” a delicacy. It’s a base ingredient that’s being oversold.
