Is it packaged like this so it looks like kid’s juice in a box and thus you can smuggle it more easily into events where you aren’t allowed to bring in food except for little kids?
The best price I found for 5l of Vella in a quick search was $20, and mostly it was $25. So $4-5/liter, or 25-40% less expensive than the Meh offering.
I suspect the Tree House is noticeably better than Vella. And as others mentioned, the portability factor is in Tree House’s favor.
About 35 years ago I was shopping in. a grocery store in Montgomery one time that had odd lots of things. They had an entire pallet full of small juice box sized Italian wine that they were selling for about a dollar a box. What’s particularly funny is that the day I decided to try one was a Sunday which, technically, due to the blue laws meant no alcohol sales. The juice box wine sailed right through the checkout with no problem. If I remember correctly the wine was “meh” as well…

That’s a lot of sour grapes.
Will it get you drunk?
@medz if you take in all 16 bottles worth, most definitely.
You’ll also need to pee.
Rattage?
@connorbush wishful thinking that’s only a casemates.com thing
@Cerridwyn @connorbush I thought we had some crossover rattage for previous, admittedly glass encased, wine on meh?
This feels like a step down from traditional box wine.
@jandrese glad you said it. What’re we going to do with 48 cartons of wine in a paper box?
@edyafree @jandrese

/giphy large wine glass
@edyafree @jandrese Halloween handouts?
@edyafree @jandrese give it to my sister in law when she comes over
She’ll drink anything in a wine glass. It should last her a couple of hours
@edyafree @jandrese

Stocked up for your next visit

This is for you Kathy
Do each come with a straw?
If this is still available after three weeks, I’ll be tempted. It’s just too weird to be sitting on $100 worth of grape juice.

@Kidsandliz if you’re too hip for a hip flask

This is 8.45oz by 48 that equals 405.6oz for $80.
I am assuming Rite Aid prices $15 at 5 liters for Vella boxed wine.
5 liters is 169oz.
$80 divided by $15 equals 5.33.
5.33 times 169oz equals 901oz.
405 divided by 901 is 45%
Therefore, you’re paying a bit more than twice as much for individually boxed wine that (like regular boxed wine) will not impress anyone.
Also, I’ve been drinking. My numbers may be off.
@goldnectar but these are convenient individual boxes and not a giant heavy one
@goldnectar
You’re making the math WAY harder than it needs to be. Keep it all metric.
48 250ml boxes is 12 liters. $80 / 12 = $6.66/liter.

@goldnectar The simple math, 3 of these 250ml boxes = 1 750ml bottle, divide 48 by 3 = 16 bottles, divide $80 by 16 = $5 a bottle, there you go!
JUICE BOXES FOR GROWN UPS
@alacrity cannot believe I had to scroll this far down for this comment.
@alacrity @rustyh3 To be fair, it was all but in the write-up…
Slap a protein shake label on there, and it’s off to that public venue where both alcohol and glass bottles are banned!
Of course, no one will actually do that, and this satirical suggestion is purely for entertainment purposes. (And I hardly ever consume wine anyway.)
OK, I’m stumped as to how the red can be labeled as a “blend”, and also described as “100% Merlot”.
@Foobarski I do want it as a merlot, but how long does it stay good? Is there such thing as aged juice box booze?
/showme The most interesting man in the world drinking a red wine juice box labelled “Tree Fort Central Coast”.
@cfg83 Here’s the image you requested for “The most interesting man in the world drinking a red wine juice box labelled Tree Fort Central Co…”
@mediocrebot Home Effing Run!
I’m not alcoholic enough for this. If it was 24 for $40, I’d have done it. 48 is ridiculous lol
For those boxed (bagged) margaritas… Search for dailys margaritas. They work out great for lunch on the boat.
