I bought 4 of these on the last go-around. 2 kinda worked a few times, 2 didn’t work at all. Of the 2 that worked, one stopped after the second charge.
The little cables are not ‘integrated’, merely designed to stay somewhat kinda attached to the battery.
I love the size and metal build of these, and would love for them to work, but sadly they are trash.
$2.50 for a battery that can top off my phone that’s slim & light enough that I can slip it into my pocket while hiking and it becomes invisible? And cheap enough that I can have a couple of them and give them away if someone is in a bind? Sure, why not.
At the end risk of them taking them away, you can get the same price per battery for just 4 at a time on a sister site, and if you’re VMP get the discount to bonus. Sorry meh!
Got these the last time they came around and only had good experiences. Fits in my wallet (albeit quite heavily) and got me an extra 40% in a bind. Didn’t even remember I had it until my phone was about to die, so they’re definitely lightweight enough to forget about. I haven’t tried one in a while though, so I can’t speak on their reliability. But cmon, it’s $20!
These are hot garbage…Three of the four I bought overheated and swelled up. Hard pass. If you keep these on your front pocket, You may just lose your scrot.
@Bumplepimp Yeah, I’ve had a version of these in the past from a conference. I thought it was a linux conference, but it turned out to be a spicy pillow trade show.
HOWEVER, I did recover the charger circuit and re-use it for another project that features a big flat battery that after a few years became … you guessed it, a spicy pillow!
/showme scared person surrounded by spicy pillows.
Meh should sell an 80-pk of these for $20 and then we can give them out to trick-or-treaters. But 8 for $20, nahh… just recycle your e-waste @troy and fire the buyer that saddled you with this mess.
I dabble in small electronics projects, LED items, etc, these could be great for providing portable power for many of my projects. For the price, what do I have to lose, $20? In my college days, I could get an ounce of weed for $20, how things have changed!
For the price, they are practically disposable. I like how they attach to my iPhone magnetically so I don’t need a big honkin’ charger when a little juice is fine.
@cfg83 I just got mine in the mail today. The first one I got started swelling into a spicy pillow within a few minutes after I plugged it in. I haven’t gotten the courage to try another one yet.
@jeffnnc Wow, that was fast. That pillow was just “bursting” to get out and say hello, , yuck yuck yuck.
When I am scared of the pillow, I put it on a metal pan on concrete outside the house. That keeps it’s ability to do harm to a minimum. I have actually been doing that to discharge them completely (using a USB LED as discharge mechanism). Sometimes I put it in an old metal cash box.
/showme spicy pillow jumping out of metal case and yelling BOOM!
No way in hell these are 2500 mAH. I can charge a dead iPhone 12 to about 26%. I’ve found them quite useful and have not had any problems with swelling or overheating, but I don’t doubt those who report these problems.
Look
My dear spouse loaned my favorite slim battery to his absent minded friend, and while these don’t have the same total charge, I don’t care. He sure doesn’t. I most certainly will not care about these getting misplaced or left at a bar.
@allwein Mine just came in the mail today. I plugged one in and it started swelling within a few minutes. The front cover is almost off of it. I haven’t gotten the courage to try a 2nd one yet.
These are garbage. I should have expected that for the price though. 2 of the 8 are spicy pillows. The other 6 “look” ok and they charge, but when I plug them into my S24 Ultra, it is only able to give me about 18-20% charge on my phone and it takes about 2 hours to do that.
These will be ok in an emergency situation where I absolutely need my phone to work for a little bit longer but otherwise, they are pretty useless.

@yakkoTDI you forgot the -ing
So these are the new TrackR Pixels, eh Meh?
spicy pillows
Choice 1 - use them to power TrackRs. Choice 2 - use them to save the low battery Uber premium.
3-8?

Got these back in May. iPhone 16 Pro: nets about +20% battery. Decent in a pinch, for the weight

Emergency Frisbees.
I heard these swell
@hchavers Citation?
@hchavers @yakkoTDI probably the same source you got cited an hour earlier?
@hchavers so they aren’t swell?

I’ve got the pow

@bobthenormal I’m VMP. What’s the discount?

@mattbarachko The last place I’d want one of these li-poly sacks is in my wallet, in my pocket, where I sit down and crack it
These are hot garbage…Three of the four I bought overheated and swelled up. Hard pass. If you keep these on your front pocket, You may just lose your scrot.
@Bumplepimp Yeah, the image of the dude putting them in his pocket is mildly terrifying. Thin=breaks easy.

@UncleMel I don’t recommend inhaling the smoke from these
@UncleMel dime bags were named as such they could get you addicted for just $10.
Now the entry level for addiction is $50.
Appreciated the write up today.
For the price, they are practically disposable. I like how they attach to my iPhone magnetically so I don’t need a big honkin’ charger when a little juice is fine.
At this price, I might give them away as Halloween gifts!
If one gets these and more than half are actually working, what would you say the actual mAh of the remaining ones are?
@caffeineguy there can only 1 (mAh)

/image there can only be one
@caffeineguy Too bad meh doesn’t sell sketchy USB power monitors.
/showme spicy pillow breaking out of small rectangular case.
@mediocrebot Ok, I think the AI thinks a “spicy pillow” is a pepper in the shape of a pillow.

Binks sounds human enough.
Also, that thumbnail of someone pulling one out of a white purse? Looked like someone was using a bink to cut a line of cocaine.
Maybe it bothers me more than… scratches did someone have cocaine?
Hey everyone,
Been racking my brain
over the last image in today’s series of product images. From what movie is that last image based off of?
TIA!
@bartsimpson The Net. The AI could not get a handle on Sandra Bullock’s unique look. Also, The Net is a horrible, horrible movie.
@bartsimpson My guess is The Net from 1995. It is only a guess because I have never seen the movie.
@bartsimpson @yakkoTDI You are correct, it’s The Net.
/showme 3.5 floppy disks with PWR label on them.
Will these charge iPhones 15 and higher?
@sdeitchman Not very much. I have an ancient google pixel (4a) and it only charged it to 45%

Are these rechargeable?
@KeNTKB Yes they are.
@KeNTKB @phr Technically they should be
Does anyone know the weight of these things?
@phr Similar products weigh around 75g (or 3oz)
So far they’re 3/8 for being completely non-functional. We’ll see if there’s any working ones in the last 5.
@allwein Mine just came in the mail today. I plugged one in and it started swelling within a few minutes. The front cover is almost off of it. I haven’t gotten the courage to try a 2nd one yet.
@allwein @jeffnnc Might be a good idea to test these outside or at least next to the kitchen sink with a full pot of water in it.
KuoH
I want more what gives?
@user68471987 Meh is a deal-a-day site, so the items are only for sale for that day (and maybe up to a few days after).
You can check SideDeal.com it’s a sister site if Meh and at this time they currently still have this item for sale.
