This actually makes sense if you kept track of the Beats brand. Technically the product is fine, overpriced even here.
I think what happened is that Apple acquired Beats and assimilated the hardware and just passed it onto their Apple branded audio devices.
@AaronLeeJohnson Apple bought Beats over a decade ago. They’ve been consistently releasing new (and great) headphones steadily even since then. I don’t know what you’re on about, but just FYI that Beats-branded devices are alive and well, and possibly even outshine the Apple-branded ones.
@sstaver Man time really flies, that was a decade ago. But it’s the same hardware, but Apple still has it around for the brand.
My point was that there’s a reason why the well known brand Beats would show up for sale on a website where they only acquire junk filling up someone’s warehouse.
@AaronLeeJohnson But they’re literally still releasing new hardware. The Beats Fit Pro is not that old. I mean, it’s about 3 years old, but still very good headphones. And literally like they’re saying on the homepage, these are actually good headphones not like what they normally sell. So, IDK what you’re trying to say, but it’s not accurate.
Ever since they were busted adding metal weights to their headphones to make them feel premium I give a hard pass on anything beats related. It’s all marketing, which is par for the course for apple. If they had their way, they would still be forcing some new lightning cable into us, but the EU regulations forced them to use USB-C to sell in Europe so they finally gave up on their proprietary charging cable.
@AaronLeeJohnson I actually own these and they’re fantastic. I run with them and never worry about them falling out. The sound quality for phone calls is great. Even the battery lasts a long time on the charging case. These are great earbuds.
Ever since they were busted adding metal weights to their headphones to make them feel premium I give a hard pass on anything beats related. It’s all marketing…
Agreed. I always thought Beats stuff was meh and just trading on Dr. Dre’s name. Then I saw a video of what was actually inside a pair of Beats headphones–the same sort of cheap stuff in cheap headphones–then the weights thing, and I thought they were playing their customers for chumps. A win for marketing.
I had a pair for a few years. Absolutely fantastic. Don’t care for the case though.
Keep the buds clean though. The plastic is painted and they will flake off if you don’t clean them off occasionally. Not that it affects how it works, but it does bother me a little.
@heartbleed If these are flaking off, you either don’t have authentic Beats, or you didn’t get new ones. The only thing that could chip off is the logo.
It wouldn’t surprise me if they are not authentic because there are a lot of counterfeit Beats headphones out there. I haven’t seen counterfeit earbuds, but I wouldn’t put it past them.
@ergomeh it works great. I’m told it’s not quite the level of AirPod Pro but I wouldn’t be able to tell you as I haven’t used the latest version of the latter.
@haydesigner@heartbleed
I was a bit disappointed when I tried out AirPods Max. Definitely not as isolating for me as the AirPods Pro (and I’ve only used the first generation) or the Sony WH-series headphones I’ve used.
@ergomeh@haydesigner Oh wow, I have the Max, the AirPods Pro and regular AirPods. The Max has the WORST noise canceling of the bunch!! (for ANC having a microphone in the ear canal makes a HUGE difference, so I don’t doubt Apple did a decent job with the MAX, but ANC is much much better on their other products, and no doubt on the Beats in-ear as well)
@agnesnutter@haydesigner@heartbleed Yep, ANC with over the ear cans is harder then when you can jam a mic into the ear canal. The MAX is Apple’s more expensive AirPod, but the least noise canceling, and I’m going to say the sound quality is mostly not better…the bass is a bit better, but that is kind of a low bar…
The MAX are however better if you want to more loudly signal “I’m listing to something other then you!” and they are better for wearing all day if you have ear wax issues (Ewwwwww, but true). They are abosluly less comfortable too. Like the MAX are a little heavy and tight while the in ear pods I sometimes forget I have on (like I go look for them only to realize they are already in my ears!)
@ergomeh I’ve had these Beats Fit Pro earphones for a few years now and I really like them. The noise cancelling is on par with my 1st gen AirPod Pros. Although, on calls I hear complaints that the Beats Fit Pro picked up a lot of background noise, so I mute frequently. I work in an open office, too, which makes this challenging. I just mowed my lawn while wearing these last night and the difference between Transparency and Noise Cancellation modes is dramatic. I had no trouble hearing the podcast I was listening to while the mower was running.
These are also much more comfortable for me than my old AirPods Pros 1. They lock in place better, especially for activities like bending, kneeling and head tilts, even when I’m sweatty. I haven’t used AirPod Pros 2, but would say that these Beats Fit Pro match the sound quality of my AirPod Pros 1 easily and fit much better for a more comfortable experience.
Nope
It appears they left some information out. The case will only charge the ear phones when plugged in to a power source. Found in Amazon reviews.:
The case is ok, has cool little magnets to keep the buds in place, but it only works as a charging station when plugged in. No wireless charging. That’s a huge miss for Beats. Huge. There are a ton of comparable products at that price profile and all of them offer wireless charging.
@craigcush This isn’t true. I charge mine every day at work, without plugging them in. I only plug the case in on the weekend.
I have learned that if you read negative reviews on everything, you will never buy anything. What I am getting at is, they are an electronic item. People will have issues with electronics, no matter what it is.
@craigcush@TheCO2 I second this. I only charge my case about once a week but the earbuds stay charged in the case without plugging the case up every time.
@craigcush They charge without being plugged in but they are fussy about being pushed in to the case recess all the way. I have aftermarket foam tips on mine so that might be why.
What? I’ve had these for years. The case does NOT need to be plugged in to charge the earbuds. You get about 3-4 recharging of earbuds per case-charged.
These aren’t technology companies, these are marketing companies that make mediocre products at a premium price because they’ve convinced people that they make premium products. Except they don’t. (The exception are Bose QuietComfort headphones which are very good, but I’m not sure even those are worth the asking price.)
Whatever you pay for them, if you’re wearing Beats you’re basically advertising that you’re a sucker.
Besides, the audio sources most of us are listening to, on our phones, streaming, via bluetooth, hardly justifies premium headphones anyway. High fidelity audio feels like a thing of the past.
@uscpsycho The difference between Bose and the others is that Bose was (and maybe still is) an engineering-driven company and for many years that showed in their designs. (They have connections to MIT.) I have a lot of bluetooth speakers (thanks, Meh, for a bunch of them) and the best one by far is my Bose Revolve II Soundlink. It’s about the size of a 12-ounce glass and has excellent bass and clean treble. Yeah, it was expensive, but I got it with credit card points several years ago.
@uscpsycho Oops, forgot two things. In case anyone was considering buying the Bose BT speaker I have, note that its charging port is microUSB. Also, I have no connection to Bose other than being a customer and having an officemate 45 years ago who was an engineer there for quite a while.
You can get the SoundCore Liberty 4 NC earbuds at nearly half the price, and get nearly twice the battery life, bigger drivers, twice as many mics, and wireless charging.
Sound quality is in the ear of the beholder, but I doubt I would trade my Liberty 4’s for these.
PLEASE Meh do not use grey numbers on a bright red background again. I found them impossible to read. I had to pretend I was going to buy these in order to get a price I could read. (After which I passed the way I always do when you offer pricey high quality earbuds. My ears aren’t high quality enough to make them worth it to me.)
@Joedetroit truly that sounds like a you problem. I’ve never lost an ear bud. When I’m done using them I put them right back in the case. Problem solved.
@yerti good for you! I understand it’s my problem. Otherwise I would not see so many people with those ridiculously expensive apple pods. I don’t know how they even stay in their ears.
@mehrrychristmas I once found some that were hit by the lawn mower. They didn’t work anymore. I truly think this problem is not uncommon though, not exactly that wild. 39% lose their airpods!
@Joedetroit truly that sounds like a you problem. I’ve never lost an ear bud. When I’m done using them I put them right back in the case. Problem solved.
Yes, I stole this reply, because it’s the only one that’s deserved.
The last 3 sets of earbuds I’ve gotten through MEH have been serious disappointments. One never worked at all. Another pair, only one charges for more than a few minutes use, and another only pairs when it feels like it. I think my next pair will be “not clearance” ones.
Yikes! I, too, have a problem with the grey on red, as Pamela so helpfully noted above. I mis-read the price as $19 twice (I think I put the first one into the dollar sign) and even recommend them to my brother. I sent him a correctio which I hope was in time, although I am sure it is more clear on the purchase page.
Just wanted to share that I’ve had these earbuds for a few years now and would compare them favorable to my old AirPods Pros 1. I really appreciate the tighter, more comfortable fit. The noise cancellation and sound quaility are on par wiht my 1st gen AirPods Pros. They’ve been durable for my open office and light activity lifestyle. The case bigger than AirPods Pros, but I find that as a positive, since I’m less likely to lose it. I bought this case for the Beats Fit Pros and it really helped make the case easier to grip and open: https://a.co/d/b7ueRAA
At this price I, Would Recommend - 5 out of 5 stars.
My only complaint (and this is true of almost every set of earbuds and headphones I’ve owned) is that I wish they better blocked ambient noise from my microphone when I was on calls.
I have AirPods, AirPods Pro, Studio Beats Pro, sports beats that wrap around my ears and these. These are by far my favorite. They last a long time on one single charge. I got mine as refurbs about three years ago for $100 and they were still going strong. The case uses usb c to charge. I highly recommend these. They stay in your ears pretty good during workouts and even cardio, I only recently realized I could tell Siri to pause and resume play when I wear these while listening to Spotify music. It works sometimes. Great noise block and cancellation. Also since they a part of Apple ecosystem they seamlessly pair to your Apple TV, iPad, MacBook or other Apple products with no hassle.
I hate that society has decided that earbuds are the way to go. Remember in the early 2000s when those headphone that wrap around the back of your head were all the rage? Can we go back to that?
@DJ_Enzyme Kind of, I have had these in addition ear buds from SoundCore, Samsung, 1More and Sony headphones. The Beats will randomly disconnect on my Pixel (7 and 9 Pro) and also on my Sony TV. None of my other ear buds or headphones do that. Someone claimed a Beats firmware updates fixes the issue but it did not for me. Nice when they work, but frustrating.

@user22116948 don’t you use your phone while in the bathroom to pass the time?
This actually makes sense if you kept track of the Beats brand. Technically the product is fine, overpriced even here.
I think what happened is that Apple acquired Beats and assimilated the hardware and just passed it onto their Apple branded audio devices.
Now Beats is an undead brand.

Mega meh on this
@AaronLeeJohnson @boredoutamymind @sstaver I have never had Apple (or anyone else) try to force a lightning cable INTO me. I’m just lucky, I guess.
@AaronLeeJohnson I actually own these and they’re fantastic. I run with them and never worry about them falling out. The sound quality for phone calls is great. Even the battery lasts a long time on the charging case. These are great earbuds.

@heartbleed flake off in your ear?
@hchavers no, just the body. The tips are silicone and not painted.
@heartbleed If these are flaking off, you either don’t have authentic Beats, or you didn’t get new ones. The only thing that could chip off is the logo.

@TheCO2 I used it for more than 2 years and came with Applecare+. I assure you it’s genuine.
It did take almost 2 years for that to happen though, so there’s that.

Canceling “AI” noise is the true fit.
@DrunkCat Sure it is. You keep telling yourself that and maybe it won’t hurt so bad when they don’t come back.
“@DrunkCat” canceling “AI” noise begins at home. Might want to try that some time.
@yakkoTDI k
@ItalianScallion k
good, it’s about time we cancelled Air Bud. i don’t care if there’s no explicit rule against it, dogs have no place in professional basketball.
Not even if they “identify” as human?
I don’t really care about sound quality (mostly just listen to the spoken word). Would I get fantastic ANC with these?
@ergomeh Rtings gives its noise isolation (factoring in ANC) an 8.4/10, which is certainly quite good but not the best available. https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/beats/fit-pro-true-wireless
Don’t know if you would consider headphones, @ergomeh, but I was flat-out staggered when I tried on the AirPod Max at the Apple Store.
@ergomeh it works great. I’m told it’s not quite the level of AirPod Pro but I wouldn’t be able to tell you as I haven’t used the latest version of the latter.

“Beats Fit Pro True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earbuds”
so i could buy that instead?

Nope

Beats is like Bose is like Monster Cable

@Pamela Thank you! See below for my comment.
@andyw @Pamela Should be a little better now - thank you for the feedback!
@Pamela @troy Thank you-now I can easily read the price.
@troy Thank you!
Yep, spend over a hundred bucks to have one of them lost in less than 6 months. I go through at least 3 earbud/headsets a year.
@Joedetroit truly that sounds like a you problem. I’ve never lost an ear bud. When I’m done using them I put them right back in the case. Problem solved.
@Joedetroit that’s wild. Thankfully when I misplace mine they are usually in my gym shorts.
@yerti good for you! I understand it’s my problem. Otherwise I would not see so many people with those ridiculously expensive apple pods. I don’t know how they even stay in their ears.

Ear buds? I like headphones. Big bulky headphones. If I can still walk through a doorway with my headphones on, they’re not big enough.
