How cool do you need to be, and how fast? An ice bath will get you really cold quickly, as will chilled IV saline. Both are unpleasant, though, so are best avoided unless really necessary.
@jsfs
Oh gosh, YES! The choice between a ice cold bath (with lots of ice cubes) or a alcohol rub down still haunts me! = 🫣
I guess the alternative would have been worse though… =
@kittykat9180 Generally, temps start to fall around 8500 ft. At 11K, it’s usually pretty nice or even a bit brisk. (This is why the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is a lot cooler than the South; that extra thousand feet makes a big difference. Sadly, the North Rim is likely to be closed until 2027 due to the short functional season there and the lead time to get the structures replaced after the fire. The lodge is gone along with most of the cabins, many of the staff residences, the store, and the gas station.)
@cbatte@pmarin there aren’t any mountains around me that still have snow in the summer.
But when I do hike in the winter, I end up stripping off all my layers on the way up. And then putting them back on on the way down.
@kittykat9180@pmarin we went to Rocky Mountain National Park in July several years ago. It was approximately 150 degrees in Houston. I needed a jacket on our hikes. It was the best.
I use little fans that I attach to my phone. They work surprisingly well. They don’t seem to be a drain on my phone’s battery like I thought they would. I bought some at Five Below and one that pivots like in the picture from Amazon. Meh should sell them. They’re cheap.
Ice, ice baby.
Go to the Antarctic.
A walk-in cooler or freezer can be nice as well.
@edguyver14

I remember doing that when I was young (in high school) and worked at a convenience store/gas station!
Those coolers were FREEZING!

/showme how hot people cool down with AIr conditioning. One person looks like they know something sneaky
@mediocrebot I thought you had the human hand thing figured out…
@mediocrebot @medz

I was just going with the finger got caught up in the blender until I realized there was a sixth digit!
Lol
@mediocrebot
This is about the extra pinky, isn’t it?
@Lynnerizer @mediocrebot @medz extra finger popular with the ladies? They both look quite satisfied…

Altitude.
@werehatrack how high? I’m above 5,300 feet and we reached 98° yesterday.

Drink room temp water
Live where it’s a “dry heat”
A nice tepid shower, not too hot or cold, just in between.
@Katyboomboom +extra points for “tepid”

A flight to somewhere with cooler climate.
Jump in the pool…
@chienfou I second this
Climb a mountain
@cbatte that sounds like a sweaty activity.

@cbatte @pmarin that goes along with my comment of taking a flight to a cooler climate.

@heartny I think at one time long in the past, something like this was sold here. Or maybe on the “W” site.
@pmarin If they were on Meh I probably would have scooped some up, but maybe I missed it. My friends having hot flashes love them.
@heartny the old ones would have been micro-USB or Lightning though. Meaning near-obsolete. I.e.,a perfect thing to sell here.
