I’d buy this but I haven’t been able to work lately so money is tight. I think I need to watch my money and when it comes to spending I need to cool it!
@einrad When I was looking into fridges/coolers for my truck, many of the reviews I read about Peltier-junction coolers (which is what cheapo “desk coolers” use) was that they often die within a year or two. So if that function isn’t mission-critical and you like the color of the bag (and who wouldn’t?!), sounds like a good alternative…
@andymand@einrad Honestly never had a Peltier-type cooler fail. Probably like LED light bulbs where if they fail it is in the power supply and control not the LED itself. But I have other “reservations” about this type of cooler; I really don’t recommend; read down about 8 posts.
This one is tempting. But I already have coolers. I just don’t need it. But this one I could put on my paddleboard! But then I got another one that would work.
No more space for stuff. At $29 I would be likely pull the trigger for it… maybe.
I have a similar cooler, company branded swag, and it kept things cold over a weekend camping trip. Waterproof is nice, but the zippers can be a bit tight (because of the waterproof tolerances I assume.)
This is a really good price for the cooler and I’m trying to figure out if I can justify or gift one to someone.
These higher performance soft coolers are so much easier to deal with than the heavier hard sided performance coolers - when you don’t need a huge amount of space inside. I already have a couple from RTIC & Wal-Mart’s Ozark Trail brand, or else I’d buy this as the price seems good imo.
I was impressed with this one but as mentioned it’s not a “cheap” one even at this price. I would say it approaches Yeti or Otter brand solidness at a fraction of their price. This would be good for a multi-day expedition if prepped with cold stuff and kept out of the Sun. Good for a boat, Jeep trip, things like that; no power needed.
I have some thoughts on the Peltier one I will update in a bit. Those to me are more for day trips in a vehicle.
@pmarin So, on Peltier type coolers, they are neither refrigerators or freezers. They will “cool” the inside 20-30 degrees below ambient. They say 40 but don’t believe it. So if it’s 90 where the cooler is, might be able to maintain 60. I did have one I set outside once in Colorado overnight at about 45 degrees, and yes it did partially freeze what was inside. Also not energy efficient if you are working on limited 12V power. Normally can’t leave on battery power overnight in a vehicle, if you want to start the next morning.
When I used mine (not this brand) in a truck I would unplug 12V when stopping overnight, but I was traveling in a cooler season. With that I could keep groceries and drinks comfortably cool on trips.
You really want a compressor-type system; these used to be $500+ but now you can get from around $200 from places like Monoprice. But be aware it adds a lot of weight and a smaller cooler will use about 1/2 the space for the compressor system. On the other hand you can set any temp you want down to -4F or so and it will give you that; important to preserve that nice catch of Tuna or Salmon you scored on a trip.

In for a case of Massive Damage.
@mehcuda67 MD-20/20?
Most won’t get that reference.
You missed a golden opportunity. Can it make a margarita? No but it can keep one cold for you.
@Kidsandliz One? It can hold 24!

11 Popular Canned Margaritas, Ranked
@ItalianScallion @Kidsandliz probably 48 of the two small ones on the second row!
Buckland sounds like what I expect the dollar store in Nebraska to be called
How does this compare to which is insulated AND has a peltier element? Same price and the halo already looks cooler
@einrad I think this one is more than pelty enough,

They still got that Halo on Sidedeal for $49. But does it float?

I got this last time. It is very nice and I have no regrets buying it. May even buy a second!

@yakkoTDI yes, my point exactly.
Have one. I love it.
Will this hold a bottle of wine?
I like today’s write-up a lot!
