Bought this last time, dead out of the box. Fortunately I’m handy with electronics so I was able to jump the lithium cell using my Dewalt drill battery, otherwise don’t be surprised if it arrives dead.
@patentdude
The one I received was DOA as well. I think the Lithium batteries are shot. THink MEH bought a warehouse full of them and they had been sitting for a couple of years in the Texas heat. Which would kill the batteries.
I went support route and they just notified me I was refunded. I should have known this was too of a deal. THe old saying "If it seems to good to be true; it probably is.
Now to take it apart and see if I can wake up the batteries as @dvermilion did. I had to do that with a Power tool battery a few years back that I had left in my trunk and forgot about. It did wake up enough for the charger to recognise the battery and it did charge.
Maybe it will work again on these cells. But these cells are 16.5V but if you dont leave a 20V on there too long it should be just fine. If it starts to smoke Ill toss it into the firepit. But meh; now I can experiment with a free device.
Just remove the 4 rubber plugs, the 4 screws and twist the power meter on the back counter clockwise.
Once opened there are 4 screws over the battery in the handle. Remove those 4 screws. You will see the polarity + and - just hook up the positive and Negative to your dewalt battery. It will light up red. I left it like that for 20 mins. Kept checking the battery pack for heat.
Once it had enough juice for the BMS to recognize there were batteries; I plugged in the charger and I had red “pulsing” lights not green. It was like that for about 45 mins; then it went to green pulsing then to solid green. I unplugged it and turned on and worked.
Now how long the batteries will last has yet to be seen. But at least it works. But man, It should have just worked right out of the box.

I just got this delivered. I left it charging for a few hours but it won’t turn on. Anyone get a working one?

@dvermilion @patentdude I can confirm that “jumpstarting” The cells will give it enough juice as @dvermilion did.

Thank you @dvermilion for the insight to do this!
