@mehvid1@therealjrn@yakkoTDI My first car ('90s, built in the '80s) very optimistically included a button that swapped english to metric, that was never useful.
@brainmist@mehvid1@yakkoTDI
I remember a ways back…(mehbe during the Carter years?) they tried to get us to switch over to that commie meteric system. That thar was jes wrong
This is an incredibly effective, efficient, and frugal way to get some groceries turned into dinner. You could probably go a long way with just this, but to prep a new kitchen I would also get a microwave and induction kettle for cheap, then splurge on a quality rice maker such as a Zorijushi, pardon my French.
I don’t know anything about this particular model of air fryer, but air fryers in general are outstanding. We used our og Philips model all the time and wore it out, and then got a range with the functionality built in. Good luck
@craigcush Ouch (literally)! I would not want to be “Home Alone” with this thing, if you know what I mean. It should come with silicon knob covers or Ecowell(done) mittens.
@Jamileigh17 Actually this model does include rotisserie: the manual lists a rotisserie lift and rotisserie fork among its included accessories【776222339545340†L69-L74】, and one of its 15 cooking functions is “Rotis” for rotisserie cooking【776222339545340†L136-L143】. So you wouldn’t have to give up that feature if you switched to this air fryer. (GarbageAI here—I do my best but double‑check my sources!)
@Jamileigh17 oh why not. I’m going to get this for my hubby. He’s loves using a small airfryer rotisserie that we have now and if it makes him cook more, what the hell plus I just upped the house insurance so it could be a win-win
I have an air-fryer and one of the things I use it for is to make a lightly toasted sandwich, bread with deli slices on one side, bread with cheese on the other, so it all gets warmed up and melted.
I kind of need one of these so I can observe how it is that the deli slices crawl off the bread at some point during the process.
If I open the air-fryer every 30 seconds of the 2 minute heating time the migration is cancelled, but if I don’t, the slice-migration happens every time.
So this is my ad for this product - use it to make a sandwich, and with the glass front you’ll be able to watch the dancing deli slices.
@ravenblack I was thinking along the same lines, I love my air fryer but not being able to observe due to a lack of window on mine makes it difficult for something that needs precision like eggs.
This has me tempting to buy but as my current fryer works great this is hard to otherwise justify.
Thanksgiving pro tip: Make your favorite type of stuffing in the crock pot. If you have to have a crispy top, scoop some in a dish and broil it while the meat rests. It’s impossible to mess up, and you start it at like 9 or 10am, which leaves you time and counter space for something pickier.
@DLPanther I love anything “slow” I can do while watching TV (or taking a nap) without burning stuff. I don’t have big gatherings. Sometime no gatherers at all. Don’t be sad.
I have no room for a “multifunction” device that really just has two functions: toaster oven, and toaster oven with fan.
I’m probably going to have to spring for a real multifunction offering that includes a microwave. That would add options without eating (more) limited counter space.
Not combination enough!
/showme a combination microwave, toaster oven, air fryer, slow cooker, coffee maker, blender, stand mixer, griddle, sandwich press, waffle maker, egg cooker, rice cooker, ice maker, and refrigerator that’s all in a single unit.
@gdorn Are you saying that “cake” and “pizza” don’t count as cooking functions? Or “proof”? Wth is proof anyway. (edit: I just learned that proofing is one of the 3 stages of grief…I mean breadmaking.)
/showme a one-unit combination microwave, toaster oven, air fryer, slow cooker, coffee maker, blender, stand mixer, griddle, sandwich press, waffle maker, egg cooker, rice cooker, ice maker, and refrigerator that’s smaller than an adult St.Bernard, that’s currently being used by teenaged humans to make a Thanksgiving meal
/showme a compact one-unit combination microwave, toaster oven, air fryer, slow cooker, coffee maker, blender, stand mixer, griddle, sandwich press, waffle maker, egg cooker, rice cooker, ice maker, and refrigerator that’s smaller than an adult St.Bernard being used by cats to make a Thanksgiving meal
/showme a rube goldberg all in one machine with microwave, toaster oven, air fryer, slow cooker, coffee maker, blender, stand mixer, griddle, sandwich press, waffle maker, egg cooker, rice cooker, ice maker, and refrigerator roughly the size of a St.Bernard being used by IRK, the playful mascot of meh.com to cook a thanksgiving feast
The “design flaw” is the exact reason a lot of manufacturers put the controls on the handle instead. But this has decent reviews for its cooking, just that using it for Thanksgiving as described isn’t going to work as planned. Unless you’re only cooking one thing in it or allowing it to cool after each time using it.
I was thinking about buying this until I read the accompanying story and the Amazon reviews.
Any oven so powerful it can stop a murder is too powerful for me. Couple that with the reviews claiming it’s too hot to handle and with control buttons and knobs that match the heat and fire inside and I know I can’t handle it.
When they add an option for nanobots that can cover one’s fingers and hand with asbestos, I’m in.

Yes! I am sick of not having fried air.
@yakkoTDI
@algae1221 @yakkoTDI Good news! We’re bringing coal back!
Well, if you look at all the reviews, the fried air seems to fry the knobs, which eventually might fry your house
3.8 Stars at Whamazon…I’ll pass
@somf69 yeah, people talking about how hot the control panel gets should make most everyone pass on this. Sorry, Team Meh.
$69. Nice
Wow, just like my Thanksgiving last year! Stop hacking my ring cameras meh.
I only cook using good 'Merican heat, Thank You!
@therealjrn How does your American heat scale measure up to the Polish and Swedish ones this oven switches between?
@therealjrn @yakkoTDI I don’t know how I survived without being able to easily switch between two different ways to measure temperature!!
@yakkoTDI
@therealjrn Yeah, Celsius sounds like some kind of snooty Euro sparkling water.
@macromeh @therealjrn And Centigrade sounds like some kind of microbe.

@brainmist @mehvid1 @therealjrn @yakkoTDI Metricification was started by Nixon in 1971 and further pushed by Ford.

Not 15-uses–in-1, but 16.
Not listed is that it can be used to cremate a small pet. Intentionally or otherwise.
@phendrick Don’t forget it can dehydrate as well
@phendrick @SacredKnight dehydrate pets?
Best. Writeup. Ever.
@Trinityscrew I’m invested over how the summer cookout goes and if “you” have a telltale heart moment.
If it had rotisserie, I’d grab it. That’s the one function on my current toaster oven I won’t give up for an air fryer

Multiple complaints of heat control issues.
But I’m gonna get one and see if I can “hack” into something a little more well designed.
