Everyone safe after the Texas floods?
7I’m on an RV trip across the Southwest. Have totally been detached from the news. Tonight while talking with my daughter I found out that they had been having floods in Texas. We’d been through that area two days prior and I actually bought gas in Kerrville which is near Camp Mystic. That’s crazy!
Hope all the mehtizens and their family and acquaintances in the Texas area are okay.
We were in Santa Rosa on the night of the 3rd to the 4th & got over two inches of rain in on one hella rainstorm in that area. Hail, lightning, the whole nine yards at about 3:00 a.m. Up until that storm the annual rainfall so far have been 11.11 in!

No issues I’m aware of within 150 miles of Houston. Austin also seems to be mostly unaffected, although there was some downstream flooding in the area between Austin and San Antonio. Kerrville and environs got hit the hardest because of the terrain in that region; there are lots of choke points that cause a flash flood to rise dramatically when one happens.

@werehatrack (Article speaks to some deaths in the greater Austin area as well as flooding north and west of “town.”)
Isn’t that kind of the definition?
@chienfou there’s a big difference between a two-foor wall of mud within the banks of a dry desert wash and a 26 foot rise in a river going right over the top of the banks and spreading our to the bluffs on both sides. They’re both flash floods, but one is a lot harder to escape.
@werehatrack
Don’t get your point. I don’t think anybody misunderstood what kind of flash flood happened.
Thank you for asking! My sister was at a VRBO in Kerrville (lives in Austin) for the long weekend, so she and her friend’s family had their tranquility taken away, but their rental was on higher ground, so they were okay.
Were you in Santa Rosa, TX? That’s very funny since it’s such a small town and it’s where my mom grew up!
@mehvid1

We went to the Blue hole to swim then set up in the parking lot to watch the fireworks 100 yards away!

D’oh … Just realized that was Santa Rosa New Mexico.
Never mind!
