Finally, some hard info about lithium battery misfeatures.
1Adam Savage’s Tested had some guests who did CT scans of commonly available lithium batteries. The variations in QC and design (mis)features were pretty dramatic. Since I know that there are people who fall everywhere in the range from tech types to “Where do I turn it on” folks who will be interested, here’s a link to the interview, and Adam has links onward to the report.

I thought this was going to talk about spicy pillows, but …
/showme spicy fiery battery that is shaped like hot dog in a bun.
@cfg83 Here’s the image you requested for “spicy fiery battery that is shaped like hot dog in a bun.”
I would like to think I could safely refurb laptop battery packs with new 18650 batteries, but then I remember it would be my fault if they caught fire.
@cfg83 Another thing I remember is watching people restoring or creating battery packs from scratch. The skillz needed to make them equal/stable is nuts, and none of those people can see INSIDE the batteries they are using in their battery packs.
