Game Time: Make Your Own “Maybe It Bothers Me More Than It Should”
2It’s been a while since we’ve had a new Maybe It Bothers Me More Than It Should (MIBMMTIS). That in and of itself is bothering me, maybe even more than it should…
How about you guys give it a shot? Give us your very own MIBMMTIS script. Talk about something otherwise ubiquitous and innocuous that for some reason just really gets your goat.
Of course, you’ve always gotta start it with a, “You know what bothers me?” And after you air your grievances, you gotta take a step back and think about how maybe you’re overthinking it or blowing it out of proportion. That, you know, “Maybe it bothers me more than it should.”
An example, though I am sure you are familiar:
Do one we like enough, maybe it’ll end up in a daily email?

Irk: You know what bothers me more than it should.
Irk: Low Effort Competition Entries.
The end.
You know what bothers me?!
People…nuff said.
Maybe it bothers me more than it should.
You know what bothers me? I got this packet of korean BBQ style chicken that was supposed to be fully cooked, right? I figured I’d toss it over rice from my rice cooker for a quick lunch or dinner, maybe throw some spinach or snap peas or broccoli in the rice cooker to steam at the end too. I open the packet of chicken up, and not only is it not fully cooked, it’s a half pound solid mass of protein. All congealed like a chicken nugget from hell surrounded by pink juices. So then I’m like, I can either cook it more, defeating the point of buying it in the first place, and hope it somehow transforms into something I’d be willing to eat, or cut my losses and actually cook. So instead of getting an easy meal, I had to cook something from scratch with no planning, which I hate doing.
Then again, a friend set her kitchen on fire when she tried to make one of the same packets. So maybe it bothers me more than it should.
(True story!)
You know what bothers me?
People that use supposably interchangeably with supposedly. They have two distinct definitions people! I have to hear this crime against vocabulary a dozen times a year…

Comments sections. You can’t search through them, you can’t build up a history of posting (that you can show off to non-bots) so you don’t have to keep repeating your insights and opinions, and you sure as heck can’t keep track of a conversation in a twelve-tier comments branch.
I get it. Online real-estate is costly and no company wants to foot the bill on a library of natter. It would be easier to have users say a thing, have that diluted down to an invisible score, and then delete it to make way for another thing to be said, possibly the same thing, and just move on instead of trying to remember everything everyone said like they had to be responsible for their public opinion. Who wants to live with that kind of history when there’s fireworks coming up?
It’s not like the world is just evolving to live in the moment like they could explode at any second right? Right?
Maybe it bothers me more then it should.
You know what bothers me?
People. Specifically people who think they are all that and well…maybe not so much. “I do all this perfectly but that person does nothing.” Umm, you don’t know what you are doing and create extra work for others. Stop, read the directions and do it right so someone else doesn’t have to fix it later.
Maybe it bothers me more than it should. I don’t think so but I suppose it is possible.
