@ItalianScallion@ThinkerT according to some random website 120kg rounds to 265lbs (264.55 or something that I’m not willing to go back and verify, especially since I’ll never find that site again)
@ItalianScallion
Had to do that in the ER for my docs all the time. It’s a very simple calculation once you figure out it’s actually doubled plus 10%. Going in the other direction (halve minus 10%) gives you a number that’s pretty damn close as well
@ItalianScallion@ThinkerT "The pound is defined as 0.45359237 kilograms following the International Yard and Pound Agreement of 1959. " https://m.measurementconversions.org/weights/kilogramstopounds.htm
Which, naturally, leads one to wonder about the definition of a yard, and why a “Yard and Pound Agreement” rather than a “Foot and Pound”, which gets you here: “The foot has been used since ancient times as a unit of measurement, with both the Greeks and the Romans using a foot. The Greek foot was known as a pous and the Roman foot as a pes. Originally both these feet were divided into 16 subdivisions, but the Romans eventually changed to 12 subdivisions known as unciae. Unciae eventually became inches in the Imperial system, with the foot being defined in ‘The Composition of Yards and Perches’ an English statute from around 1300.” But, if you want to know the conversion to Perches, or Ells, you’re on your own. BTW, as long as we’re in absurd units, 120kg is approximately 19 stones.
Q: First, thank you for offering it Georgia Red, but… does its batteries spontaneously burst into flames and burn down the house it’s stored in?
A: <looks sideways, looks up, starts to whistle a tune, slips out the side door>
The batteries in both my hoverboard and hoverskates have died and will no longer charge…no idea how to take them apart to replace them, but this could certainly hold me over til then!
@dahobbs9@pyroguy7 They’re easy to get to and replace the surprisingly generic battery pack. Rebuilding the battery pack yourself is more work, but I’ve done it to hoverboards and a bunch of other things. A 36v 4ah battery like what this is will be 20 2,000mah 18650 batteries.
You sent me a go kart accessory in an irk with no hoverboard. So I had to buy one. It was fun briefly, hopefully some goodwill customer is enjoying it now.
@haydesigner Those $80 ones were NEW (AKA “yet to combust”) so that was a good deal. Battery cells are probably also a lot fresher than the ones in these refurbs since these are only selling for $50.
Hopefully, a shot of whiskey will comfort you til the dentist gives you your bill.

“Max Supported Weight 264 Pounds”
That’s…oddly specific, and makes me feel like 265 pounds would make it instantly crack down the middle.
@ThinkerT have to draw the line somewhere
@ThinkerT It’s 120 kg which is more of a round number… and it’s highly unlikely it’s not made in the USA.

@ItalianScallion That makes a ton of sense, thanks.
@ergomeh @ItalianScallion Maybe for legal reasons they’d round down instead of up?
@ergomeh @ThinkerT I use the Unit Pro app on my android phone if I don’t feel like doing a mental calculation (1 kg = 2.2 lbs).

@ergomeh @ItalianScallion @ThinkerT And an inch is longer in China.
@ItalianScallion @ThinkerT @werehatrack Foreigners! Give them 2.54cm and they’ll take 1.6km

@ItalianScallion they only burst into flames on certain occasions
@dahobbs9 Like National Scooter and Hoverboard Batteries Burst Into Flames Day? I can’t seem to figure out when that is. I guess I’ll be surprised.
I think I just heard “hold my beer”.
The reviews mostly say Run Away from the cheesy thing, that’s from the listing on the Academy website.
Doesn’t last very long then becomes a door prop.

@pyroguy7 I really wouldn’t be surprised if they were plastic welded together as to insure Nothing is user servicible by the owner.
Most likely using some seriously low quality/capacity cells too

@sammydog01 could always Mod it with two ski poles, a small platform with a swivel wheel at the rear.
I think Not, I don’t want to Break many things I need!
/showme many real looking cats using Hoverboard while listening to their favorite tunes
@mediocrebot I wondering what they are listening to!
@mediocrebot @mycya4me the Phish cat-a-log of course
@mediocrebot @mycya4me No idea, but probably playing Exploding Kittens.
@mycya4me @soxnabox
And this:
I want one…
… But I’d never use one. Not practical when you live in a wooded hilly area.
@OnionSoup Where’s your sense of adventure?
Man, I just bought one from here not even 3 months ago for my kid’s birthday for $80. Kinds feels like I got scammed a bit, to be honest.
/showme feeling like I got scammed a bit, to be honest
The hand is fairly appropriate, @mediocrebot, as I had a massive toothache this afternoon that I had to go to the ER for…
@haydesigner @mediocrebot
Hope you feel better and remember… Most dentist offices are closed on Friday!
