I treat Thor, the Cat, Sheba moist cat food fora treat. I give him bargain brand dry food on a regular basis. With that he rarely passes gas. But when does OMG it rank, in fact, since the war was a rescue, they had to give them some kind of name and they had named him Fetta ( yes like the Cheese). So since he was a rescue he will pretty much eat any type cat food
@Salanth@yakkoTDI
Yeah, right!
My step son named his pure white Pitbull Onyx. That was pretty funny. Best dog ever, and the softest coat I’d ever felt. His tongue was also the softest ever, and YES, I know that sounds weird! Unfortunately he only lived until he was 8 years old.
My Buddy (a cat with some of the personality of a dog) liked pineapple juice and tuna. He went crazy for the pineapple juice. He was generally interested in other fruit juices as well.
When I had a cat (sadly gone) and mice in my house, he found his own treats. He would wait overnight in certain places and I was thinking “what are you doing there?” Then I figured it out; he was just waiting for the treat to come out.
My little homie (chi mix) has always preferred soft treats because his teeth have always been bad - he’s down to about half now. Recently, he was diagnosed with kidney disease, so he’s on a low protein diet, which seems to be in direct opposition of soft treat ingredients. He was into canned carrots, but like a small child, his preferred food tastes come in waves. I’m open to any and all mehtizen treat suggestions.
I still have a bunch of the plant based on offer recently. Those smell terrible, like truly awful. My dog likes them, but my hands smell like fake steak for hours after.
@blaineg
Took me a minute, even with the “sounds fishy” reply. Feeling slow as molasses on a winters day! Lol
Do you have salt water or fresh? What are your favorites? 🫧
@Lynnerizer Just fresh these days, but I’ve had marine tanks, and there are some really amazing fish and critters. One of my favorite marine fish was an Emperor Snapper that could distinguish me from anyone else in the house, and would come up and eat out of my hand.
@Lynnerizer The 20 gallon fresh tank has a couple of angelfish that have taken to breeding without any special prep or conditions.
They’ve done it several times, but each time all the eggs turned white, which means they weren’t fertilized. So maybe the glowfish angel is shooting blanks.
@Kyeh@Lynnerizer It’s one of genetically modified Glofish that have a gene from jellyfish or coral that causes the coloring and the fluorescence in UV/blue light. They started with zebra fish, and have added about 6 other breeds. The angel is the newest.
The Glofish started as a science project to develop a fish that could detect pollution by selectively fluorescing in the presence of environmental toxins. Then someone realized the hobby potential.
The black & silver one (Snoopy) was tiny when we bought him and has grown magnificently. It was a surprise to find out he was a she! I’ve trained both of them to nibble my finger when they want food. They’ll also dance & wiggle when we walk past the tank if they’re hungry.
The pink one (Angelo) was about that size when we got him.
In the 5 gallon tank we’ve got some Glofish zebras, and some normal neon tetras and Cory catfish.
@Kyeh@Lynnerizer That’s his color in normal light, under blue or UV it becomes much more intense. It does kinda look like they glow, but it’s really fluorescence.
Our guy Tuc is super food motivated but he’s also wicked picky! He likes Temptations Mix Ups cat treats, chicken, liver & beef flavor. They’re crunchy with a soft center and ONLY 2 calories per treat, we don’t want weight to be an issue so THAT’S a good thing!
While he likes those treats he LOVES Temptations pureed packets. He loves them to the point of making me stingy with them! As soon as he sees the package (or even when I reach over on the side table where they’re kept) he goes absolutely nuts! Totally bonkers! Meowing super fast in a high pitched voice like a toddler throwing a fit or a temper tantrum! And then, after he’s done licking the wrapper clean that I’ve cut open with scissors just to keep him from pawing me to death he’ll keep coming back hours later searching for more. Even if I give him 2 packs to start with, he just can’t get enough! Who would’ve thought I’d have to get in the right mindset in order to start the whole process!
I thought it would be nice if he got to snack just like we do… I’ve created a monster! Lol…
@Lynnerizer Toby gets like that for Churu (I assume they’re pretty similar to the Temptations puree.) I save them to use if I have to take him to the vet, because he resists getting into that carrier with an allmighty surge of strength! I didn’t realize how strong he is until the first time I tried to get him into it (I put with the door facing up and drop him in - worked great with my previous small kitties) He is a muscular boy!
@Lynnerizer However, just this spring I found catnip growing in my yard - WOOHOO! That makes him very happy - I’ve been bringing in a leaf every day and he loves it.
@Kyeh
That’s wonderful, lucky Toby! We’ve been growing our own cat grass for Tuc and he loves it! Guess I forgot about THAT being a treat! Lol
*That almighty surge of strength…
It is amazing how strong they can be, especially when they’re fighting against going into their carrier for a trip to the vet! BIG CAT ENERGY… He’ll show you who’s boss!
I offer them some of my food and see what they like.
I give my pretend pets whatever pretend treats they pretend to want.
Whatever they like the most.
I get the ones that also taste good to me and don’t have obvious fillers in the ingredient list. Freeze dried liver is pretty decent.
Whatever all four of the picky little fuckers will eat. Friskies party mix is the only one they all love.
No pets now and no choice that fits with that in the poll.
The wife decides what her dog eats. I just get to clean up my dog’s accidents.
It was trial & error until I discovered these (my sister gave me some) that Toby is mad keen crazy about. So I get them.
(Edit - tuna, not chicken)
@Kyeh yes cat food…

Used to get freeze-dried chicken or wild salmon cubes for Pooky. Can’t get much more natural.
@Salanth

Pooky… I’m picturing a tiny little white fluff ball, under 10 lbs. I’d LOVE to see a picture of your Pooky!
@Lynnerizer @Salanth I am hoping that Pooky was named ironically and turns out to be a full grown Bengal Tiger.
@Salanth @yakkoTDI

Baby carrots, milk bones, and Dentastix.
i buy all my dog treats from the nice lady at the farmer’s market. my dog loves them. shop local.
My Buddy (a cat with some of the personality of a dog) liked pineapple juice and tuna. He went crazy for the pineapple juice. He was generally interested in other fruit juices as well.
Why is there never an option for no pet? I know I’m not the only one.

Flakes mostly, sometimes micro pellets.
@blaineg Sounds fishy to me.

@blaineg @Lynnerizer That COLOR! I didn’t know there were neon pink fish, how cool!

@blaineg @Lynnerizer Gorgeous! So the Glo fish only looks that way under the UV light?
@Kyeh @Lynnerizer That’s his color in normal light, under blue or UV it becomes much more intense. It does kinda look like they glow, but it’s really fluorescence.
