@kuoh Many a Waffle House has provided me with a 1AM breakfast like that, fortifying me to press on through the rest of the night. (Though I usually skip the pancakes. And the hash browns are scattered/smothered.)
Kind of depends on what you’re toasting.
Sourdough, whole wheat, high protein with lots of grains,
Zucchini bread, bagels etc each demand levels of toasting that are different.
Additional tweaking may be required based on what you’re going to put on the toast once it’s toasted.
So a friend from England was visiting and was in our house for a few days. My wife would make soft-boiled eggs which somehow are difficult to make correctly for me, and serve in nice little egg cups.
He wanted toast and would cut it into small (1cm, I’ll go metric here) wide strips. You dip them into the very soft egg and they would stand up in the egg. He said these were called “soldiers.” I assume it was something done to make kids eat their breakfast, but at age 50 he thought it was fun and told us about it.
@pmarin That’s done that way for kids. Grownups have ‘points’ tiny triangles to dip in the egg. Still, I’d rather have an sunny side up egg with my ‘points’!
Toasty!!

Mortal Kombat
Next to some bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns and a stack of pancakes, especially around the midnight hunger attacks.

I remember the instructions in a Tokyo hotel telling me how to “burn toast”. It was pretty good.
I don’t eat toast.

Run it through on the highest setting, and then again at like a 4.
Dry. And my partner would like four fried chickens and a Coke.

Short, with a bit of humor and some touching sentiment

@pmarin I’ve heard of that.
