@catthegreat Surgical recovery isn’t going the way it should because the surgery was partially botched - and it’s really effing hard to find anyone who’s still doing it in this state and is willing to accept new patients, particularly when they would be cleaning up another surgeon’s mess.
@kittykat9180@Kyeh
I think those things are a waste of money. I drink a crap ton of water a day and eat fruits and veggies like a normal person should.
@kittykat9180 Oh, yeah - that’s a good one. I’m hesitant to say that I hardly ever get stomach upheavals (don’t want to tempt the fates) but it’s true.
@NapkinEater so… No judgement but I hope you have or can go to a doctor and get a blood test. Cause chronic cramping potentially related to what you think is just electrolytes is not good.
Actual potassium supplement pills are specifically limited to 99 mg even though the daily dose is 3400mg because overdoing it is harmful to those with kidney issues.
Some people do replace salt with potassium chloride. But his is basically beneficial for people who need to reduce sodium chloride(table salt) and have been advised BY THEIR DOCTOR to do so. But also raises potassium intake. Which is a risk for others.
And even though I’m citiing the NIH, please note the disclaimer on both links quoted above. If I couldn’t afford a doctor because our county has a shitty health system… Id lean toward the high potassium veg/diet adjustment to try over Gatorade. But if Gatorade works I’m not judging anyone

@unksol I did go to my doctor and everything was in the normal limits. They didn’t help much beyond that. I just chalked it up to my water intake/diet not being able to keep up with my gym schedule.
@NapkinEater fair enough. I went down a bit of a rabbit hole. Chronic usually means not related to daily activity.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
A teaspoon of potassium chloride is about 4300 mg. I like a little salt in my coffee. Cuts bitter notes. I put an 8th of a teaspoon in my (20 oz) coffee to replace. Around 500 mg. So more than any supplement. But way below the recommdation. If you’re not getting it in your diet. That is an option. But you know. Be careful. Or just enjoy your Gatorade
@werehatrack I hadn’t actually watched that for a while, and while the guy is generally likable and probably fine. The fact that he’s shilling for a clearly BS"zbiotics" crap product is… Perfect.
Sure throw electrolytes and vitamins at your system to see if it helps. You don’t need a bespoke pill or an IV. Drink some water, eat some food. Take a multivitamin maybe.
When I have been out in the heat riding my bicycle.
@yakkoTDI Same here, which unfortunately is off-limits for me this year. Dammit.
@werehatrack @yakkoTDI bummer dude! What happened??

@werehatrack That sucks. I hope you can get back on the bike soon.
After a session of yard work.
I don’t drink those things. Water is good enough.
@kittykat9180 Same; I’d rather get the electroytes from food.
Although if I were sick to my stomach I might use a drink.

@Kyeh ginger ale?

All the time. I have chronic muscle cramping unless I drink 1-2 liters of Gatorade per day. I would try these if I didn’t think mango is gross.

If not cause… Too many people don’t have healthcare. A RFK not highjacked yet page. You can boost your diet in potassium/electrolytes and see if that helps.

When my wife gets a flavor I like.
During a night of drinking plus after? What’s it called when you mix vodka with Gatorade then have a Gatorade in the morning.
It’s vodka so it’s not
/youtube babish gatorwine.
If you get those IVs after drinking… You are the worse person.
@unksol Gatorwine makes everything else taste better!

Working around the house/yard.
Electrolytes is what plants crave.
After a busy day at work tearing stuff apart with few breaks and no lunch.
Because I have low blood pressure and faint a lot.
