If you need to be able to get your phone (or whatever) up to a full charge quickly, then yes, the capacity is worthwhile. If you’ve never needed to do that, you’ll need to weigh the likelihood that this will happen in the future, and whether the capability for fast charging using devices you’ll have by then will make this irrelevant.
The Law of Perversity of the Universe predicts that if you are prepared for an eventuality, the likelihood of encountering it may be reduced.
@werehatrack In that case, the likelihood of any USB-charged device I own running low enough to worry about this is zero… thanks to Meh. Excuse me while I make room in my charger/power bank drawer for two more chargers…
If you have laptops that can charge with usb-c, these seem like a no-brainer for travel chargers you could afford to lose, or for that location in your house you only occasionally use.
I’m not a fan of using “Xtreme!” charging on a regular basis for phones and tablets. It stresses the battery and shortens their life. I use slow <10W chargers over night.
@jamesmcp I have the same feeling about the rechargeable AA/AAA chargers and the tool battery chargers. I tend to have extra batteries and don’t mind them taking longer. I can understand why some construction workers using high-draw tools: Milwaukee and DeWalt appreciate the newer “Rapid Chargers” but face it, I’m not doing that much work.
Better than paying for shoddy charging.
With USB everywhere (cars, luggage, lamps, flashlights, power strips), who needs a high-priced chargers?
@hchavers I would not use a strange USB (at an airport or coffee shop)
@catthegreat @hchavers assuming they work at all; I’ve seen my share of ripped up outlets.

I miss when you would buy something and if it needed to be charged it came with the cord AND port…
@burnsie_girl Nope. If you pay for a Priority Mail fixed-rate box I can send you a few pounds of ‘em!
With exceptional charging, comes tremendous load.
KuoH
@kuoh With tremendous load, comes tremendous need for heat dissipation.
