I might have bought one of these if it didn’t have a mostly meaningless 25000mAh specification. How many Watt-hours? Assuming that’s 25000mAh nominal at 3.6V, that’s only 90Whr. Plus, for the 65W rating; is that from the GaN charger, or can I get 65W from the battery for my laptop? What about when my 65W laptop is plugged in, will it be able to recharge the battery, or will it take all day because the 65W is going to my laptop?
Looking on the Newegg site the USB-C can pull 65W, but it can only pull 30W from the wall AC. So I’d guess you’d likely be able to pull 65W from the USBC to a laptop, but gradually drain the battery if it was plugged in via AC.
I love the idea of a wall plug built in, but I recall there was a debate on whether or not you could bring this on an airplane due to the high mAh/GaN. I feel like that is the only thing holding me back from buying one as this would replace other chargers I currently have.
@JT954 Should be OK on most airlines; the typical limit is 100Wh, and these appear to be at or below that. It’s a bit nebulous because they don’t give an output voltage to go with the amp-hours.
I have a computer that draws 8-15w from usb-c. Considering using this as a UPS for it. The rest of my office stuff is plugged into one of those kenwood battery/generator things, but when the power cuts off it doesn’t switch from AC to battery quickly enough to stop my computer from rebooting.
@MrBillK Yeah, I ran my 3D printer at my kid’s science fair on my kenwood; I was hoping the print would finish before the end of the fair, but got a late start to it… Unplugged the AC, and dead; printer rebooted. The 24V power supply didn’t have enough capacitance to ride out the interruption. Lesson learned (again).
I was all set to buy this to power my laptop when I do train travel with it because it’s 65W, has a retractable USB cord, uses a fold-down AC plug instead of a cord, but then I saw on Newegg that it measures 7.08 in x 3.34 in x 1.37 in. I’m not gonna take up that much space in my already-crowded backpack I always use for such trips. Maybe I’ll have second thoughts and get it later.
@ItalianScallion any smaller and it won’t provide much charge for a laptop. I have a smaller one that will output 65 watts to charge a laptop, but I don’t get a full charge out of it. I think it’s made by UGreen? (It doesn’t have built-in charging plug)
@TimW you’re right. I realized that I was comparing the size of this one to my 65W power supplies that don’t have batteries in them. Duh. I think I’ll get it after all. That makes two of the three offers I need to get $15 off on my IRK!
This is an interesting device. I love it for the simplicity of bringing just one thing while travelling.
One thing to note however is that once it gets down to 30% capacity, it switches from 65 Watt PD down to the 30 Watt PD as if it were plugged in. Then when it gets around 10% SoC it kicks down to old-school 5v-10Watts.
Also, mine is only giving me about 76 WHrs of capacity.
the retractable cable and general form factor is great. but one of the two that I bought died already… wtf?! no digital display and doesn’t seem to be charging (or discharging).

@mediocrebot I was imagining cable hell, but this is excellent cable management.
Great Job!

@mediocrebot
That’s just evil, @jo2y
@therealjrn Just never unplug the red one or it will collapse into a singular. Especially if only one end is plugged in.
@cfg83 Am I the only one who noticed that there are 16 missing? I only see 64.
@jo2y @therealjrn
I think you might have meant singularity…?
@PhysAssist I did. I regret the unchecked autocorrect.
@jo2y No regerts need apply…
[Misspelling intended as a call back to the blursed tattoos oft seen on the 'nets…]
@jo2y I did notice, but mediocrebot is pretty bad at counting above 7.
@jo2y @mediocrebot Now, THIS is more realistic.

@Aetherwizard That sounds even less than useful.
@caffeineguy It is rated at 96 Whrs. However I am only getting around 76 Whrs of capacity out of mine.

Interesting… The 30,000mAh model without the wall plug model was 2 for $30 last time. I guess that’s the cost for convenience.

@mediocrebot @user43397771 Wait, if I type “/” + “buy” then I auto-purchase something? That’s wayyyyyyyyy too convenient.
Thanks for all the feedback. I decided to pick one up.
