At one time a local breakfast place said it was extra if you wanted the real stuff, but for
$2 you could get a little glass bottle of “real.”
Bonus is that you could keep and re-use the bottle, so you could go into a crap place like IHOP and say No Thanks I brought my own syrup.
There’s a guy up in Two Harbors, MN who harvest and boils up the syrup himself, then sells it out of his truck and house the rest of the year.
His light golden colored one tastes like you mixed butter into the syrup, it’s just incredible stuff! That I could mix into almost anything sweet. If it’s darker stuff, I’d need something more like a cookie batter to toss that into
@guyfromhawthorn I Love Two Harbors! Castle Danger Brewing, Russ Kendall’s smoked fish right down the road, starting point for Grandma’s Marathon, and more. Definitely worth a visit!
Got to be pure from actual trees! It is the best; you can do so many things with it. Maine, Vermont, or Quebec usually. On a tour up there we visited a maple farm. No HFCS crap for me. I won’t consume “pancake syrup” either. Maybe if it still had the sweet Aunt Jemima on the bottle but they got rid of her too.
Tree or tree products yes. Maple water, yes. Overnight oats with 100% maple syrup, yes. Maple sugar, yes. Take your over processed corn and other sugars and get out.
One can also tap other trees besides maple for syrup; a neighbor tapped some sycamore trees, Something like a 70:1 reduction was delicious.

Has to be good quality 100% maple syrup. Don’t like maple anything else. I got spoiled growing up as my parents would buy it from someone who made it in western PA. I have a maple sugar sled from the late 1800’s (horse pulled ) made into a coffee table.
Not the best photo. The top shelf on it was made by the person who turned it into a coffee table.
I use it in my steel cut oats. I make oatmeal in my crockpot overnight with maple syrup. Nice & hot when I wake up. I dump everything in, set the crockpot warm at midnight and it cooks perfectly at that temp. A winter favorite!!!
I won’t eat waffles/pancakes unless I have 100% maple syrup. None of that “pancake syrup” for me.

Fake maple flavouring is awful. But maple syrup is good.
Try it in your coffee. Tastes great!
Great icing for a donut, but it’s also a key ingredient on my favorite chicken recipe.

Depends what it’s in. Maple syrup for pancakes, waffles, or French roast. Not on sausages; I don’t like it on savory. Maybe in a spiced drink.
