Okay, serious comment here - the descriptions are reversed on the start page; it says the cold press takes up more room and makes more noise, but it doesn’t. At least according to the pictures and the specs on this page.
@hiroo this is anecdotal, but Omega has been the standard for slow speed/low RPM juicers for probably 15 years. That’s to say they used to be and everything that looks like them is just a cheap knockoff.
I say that knowing that I haven’t bought a juicer in 10 years because mine still works. I have no idea if they too sold out and started licensing their name on other people’s products. Our two juicers cost about $300 each and they are basically the one you are looking at.
Side note, if anyone is actually looking to juice mostly greens, there are other greens juicers that do that better.
@hiroo All that said, I’m looking at these machines, and they are nowhere near as durable looking as mine. These must be a lower line. Certainly a good entry-level price to see if you’re willing to do the juicing
@jaybird what I’m wondering about this cold press Omega is that the feed tube looks to be fairly small, so you’d have to cut stuff up small to fit it in. Like for citrus, you’d have to cut into quarters or smaller.
I have an orange tree so often have lots of those to juice when they get too ripe. I currently do it by hand but obviously that is slow and tiring, but the juice is delicious.
My previous experience is with a centrifugal juicer and it didn’t handle oranges well because the rind and pulp would clog the filter and also the bits of rind that got through (or the juice going through the ground rind) made the juice bitter. The alternative is to peel the oranges which is even slower than hand juicing.
and how well would that filter in this Omega cold press handle orange rinds? would it get clogged quickly?
I have the OG Breville centrifugal juicer. The one that all these are modeled after. I got it from a rich buddy whose wife got it, and realized it is terrible for juicing citrus.
That is my only complaint about it (and, presumably, these types) besides having to clean it. However, after a few years of hand washing, I decided to test the “dishwasher safe” and that was a decade ago, and it is still going strong. Found a backup disc shredder/basket at a thrift store, as people tend to not use theirs and it isn’t exactly tiny.
It is fun throwing a pineapple + core and seeing the amount of juice in those things. Does a great job with beets (colored pasta!).
Great price. Niche product. (I probably use mine 15 times a year, and I cook a lot.)
@Kyeh@rockblossom about 20 years ago someone had the idea that instead of smoking to get nicotine they’d put nicotine in some syrupy liquid and basically inhale nicotine steam instead. Still absolutely terrible for you but the users don’t smell like tobacco 24/7 and is marginally healthier than cigarettes.
similar like some others I remember my Omega juicer being 5x times as much and that was supposed to be a bargain - wonder if anybody can talk about if it’s the same or a lower tiered version.
Seems like a good deal, but I’m gonna pass because I know exactly how this will go down. Open it up. Juice something. Appreciate the fresh juice flavor but dislike the room temperature liquid. Clean it. Store it on a shelf. Never use it again.

Finally!! A way to get the juice out of the jug.
@yakkoTDI So is the pop culture reference Fruit Batman?
In before the mastication jokes.
EDIT: Did NOT take long lmao
@PooltoyWolf Just remember to keep your mouth closed when masticating. It’s good etiquette.
But still OK to smile.

Is this Omega rated to 500 meters?
@tweezak Yes, it works fine in the mountains.
As the owner of an Omega cold press juicer, I’m jealous of those who will get it for this price.
I have no need for it because mine’s still going strong, but if you’re into juicing, these are great.
The real question is “are you gonna really juice stuff?” along with “are you gonna be willing to clean it when it’s done?”
@bakerzdosen No.
@bakerzdosen I’d dprobably use it once… and done
Masturcating in public will get you arrested!
Hmmmm …

@mediocrebot Better!
@cfg83 @mediocrebot Do we have to brush it’s teeth, or it’s self cleaning?
@Eugene0567 @mediocrebot It’s like dentures. Leave it in cleaning solution overnight.
all i’m sayin’ is tequila or rum are the only things that make juice cleanses worthwhile.
Remember to K.I.S.S.! Keep It Simple Stupid!!

@Kyeh @therealjrn That poor pooch.

anybody have a serious comparison of this omega cold press juicer with the greater goods cold press juicer on morningsave?

If I put twinkies in a juicer will it make twinkie juice- and would that make them healthy?
@OnionSoup
Yes. No.
https://www.madtownvap.com/twinkie-juice/
@OnionSoup it would be closer to Twinkie slime, there isn’t enough moisture in there to produce juice.
@werehatrack lol… I’ve never actually had a Twinkie. I only know of them by reputation… Lol… I don’t think I’m ready for Twinkie slime.
@rockblossom now that is funny that there is a juice product sold… I can only imagine it’s some viscous oily syrup that clings to you oesophagus.
@OnionSoup I especially like the warning: “Not to be used for vaping.”
@OnionSoup @rockblossom So I know nothing about vaping - what IS this supposed to be for?
@Kyeh @rockblossom about 20 years ago someone had the idea that instead of smoking to get nicotine they’d put nicotine in some syrupy liquid and basically inhale nicotine steam instead. Still absolutely terrible for you but the users don’t smell like tobacco 24/7 and is marginally healthier than cigarettes.
@OnionSoup @rockblossom Thanks, that I did have a vague understanding of, but what is this “juice” stuff that’s NOT supposed to be for vaping?
