Hey, folks who never comment. Let’s hear what you’re up to. There are some forum enthusiasts who are itching to make you feel welcomed (and, later, a little uncomfortable).
I’m not a lurker but I agree there are a lot not participaing. What can you do to wake ‘em up? I’d say random posters get a coupon code but most of us forget to use them anyway.
I could say post inflammatory political comments, but, Nah, let’s not do that.
I was going to make this a new thread so everybody could see but definitely for years coming forward to be able to participate in the meh exchange you MUST be active in the comments. By active I mean talking on a semi regular basis (not just ordering stuff) so we all know who each other are. I’ve tried to let new people in this year and last but I just keep getting comments from participants that it’s hard when someone is not active, doesn’t respond or doesn’t want to post what they got. I understand and agree.
So let’s start here. It’s a fun community. Sometimes we vent, sometimes we cry, a lot of times we laugh. We share stories of life, help each other through hard times and for the most part are respectful of each other.
I was honestly lost after a very bad work injury, several surgeries, blood clot on my brain, ect. I felt like I couldn’t talk to anybody and that no body understood. More or less I was sick of hear so much of the same thing from people that weren’t in my place. I was extremely angry at the world and wanted to be. But this community really helped me heal. It helped me open up to people again, accept what happened to me and let go of the anger. I’m very thankful I found this community when I did.
@Star2236 Thanks for sharing. I have been a long time lurker and the gift exchange was the first time I posted anything. Thanks for making the community more vibrant!
I used to be active, often to the annoyance of many. A few month back, For Reasons, I pretty much vanished. I am pretty sure that this was largely unnoticed, although those who may have privately remarked upon it probably view the change with more relief than curiosity. I am unlikely to resume my former level of participation.
@werehatrack I feel this more than I can explain. I definitely ebb and flow. I’m more active now than I have been in a bit but can’t dedicate as much time for various reasons. So hugs!
@ironcheftoni Yeah, once upon a time, that was me. I moved away from the buttons over 20 years ago, and gave up on the bumper stickers about 10 years back (or maybe a bit more). I had honestly hoped to be sufficiently recovered from my surgery to attend FenCon this year, but that turned out to be unrealistic. If FenCon survives to next year, I will try to make it.
@werehatrack I noticed! But I didn’t say anything, so I guess I’m not terribly helpful. (Like they say, “if you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the precipitate.”)
Not many days ago I was wondering why we hadn’t heard as much from you. You always have something useful to contribute to the conversations. I am frequently surprised at how much knowledge and personal experience you’re able to call upon for almost any random topic this forum dives into.
@werehatrack I hope if survives but on saturday afternoon, attendance seemed extremely light. A friend was a jewelry dealer and she ended up packing up early on sunday.
While I have not been on this forum as long as others, I have come to value the online friendships that I have accumulated as well as unexpectedly reconnected with some RL acquaintances as well.
Like @Star2236 said; we have laughed, cried, virtual hugged and sometimes even screamed at the universe together. I hope we continue to do so in the future.
Hello, I guess I am/was somewhat of a lurker. I had no idea this group even existed, or that you were so chatty and friendly. I have been a meh-er for forever and a day. May 18th, 2016 is the first order listed. I was a Wr, before they went by the way if An. When This group restarted as Meh, I wasn’t aware initially. My better half informed me of Meh, a decision I’m sure he may regret at times, but enjoys at others. I typically only read comments on the products to help me decide if it was my hard earned $$$’s. I’m pretty excited to be an “active member” because o am so sure that this has got to be better than FB and the inundation of ads and politics! I’m a born and raised midwesterner, which comes with its own set of personalities and traits! I thoroughly enjoyed the exchange.
@jmrobinett
Glad to meet you, where about the Midwest are you from? I’m in MI, it’s freakin cold today. Glad you enjoyed the exchange. And yes, way better than the book face, I don’t even have an account there. I was a wooter from the beginning too but it also took me a while to find this after they switched.
@ironcheftoni@jmrobinett
Grew up in misery Missouri. Worst of both (weather) worlds… Cold (down to 0 or less) winters, hot (over 100) summers.
Now in AL where summer is hot but at least winter is not too bad.
@chienfou@ironcheftoni@jmrobinett grew up in Cleveland, Oh. I was reluctant to ditch my snow shovel when I moved to the armpit of the nation for a job. Have used it here twice. I think it is supposed to be 8 degrees or something like that tomorrow and the next day. I think the midwest got lost and wandered into the deep south.
@Star2236 I’m sure you’ve heard of it…
O-H…I-O! The loud Buckeye state. But don’t hold that against me. For those who added up their purchases, I’m interested, but it will have to wait for a really long and miserable rainy/snowy week for me to sit down and do that, and then how could I chat here?! I’m a little envious if those who who did!
@ironcheftoni Texas is one of the states I have not been to yet! It’s on my list though! After looking at your screen name, I realize how boring mine is. Now I’m hungry!
@chienfou@ironcheftoni I don’t mind OH cold weather. I don’t have to be out in it for long periods of time, just go from my warm house to my warm car, and in to the next warm place. If I’m planning to be out for awhile, I just bundle up. It is frustrating in days that I want to clean out the garage or something, but it’s too cold.
@chienfou@ironcheftoni@Kidsandliz I don’t know where the armpit of the nation is, but if you could ditch the snow shovel, that sounds like a positive !
@chienfou@ironcheftoni@jmrobinett Yes ditching the snow shoved and windshield ice scraper (that I have used only a few times here too) can be nice (although these boneheads have no idea how to then drive in snow, city doesn’t know how to handle it)… but the trade off is months and months of 99+ degrees with 99% humidity. And to be quite honest I miss having 4 distinct seasons, some of the winter things like cross country skiing… however there needs to be a balance between the 4 seasons and not heavily weighted for one of them. The one thing this area of the deep south has that I do like is lots of sunshine - exactly what you don’t get in the snowbelt.

Oh hey there, I guess that’d be me??
Longest meh streak is 711 (lost it when I was in a flu fog)
Current streak is 531. Only missed that one day in between. If they had a “streak freeze” for sale during the mehrathon, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
Certified South Texas Lurker here, only because my thoughts are only funny in my head and not when I start typing. I love dad jokes, well any jokes in general, I love to laugh.
For the most part I’ve been a lurker since 2018.
And my thoughts are hilarious in my own head - it’s the blank stares I get that confirm they’re better left in there.

No, seriously… Smartassery is a skill that is well honed on this site. Please feel free to come out and play whenever you can.

@werehatrack actually I’ve missed you.
I’ve missed news of your feline crew too.
I was at FenCon last weekend and thought, you know what’s missing? Someone selling snarky buttons and bumper stickers
@ironcheftoni Yeah, once upon a time, that was me. I moved away from the buttons over 20 years ago, and gave up on the bumper stickers about 10 years back (or maybe a bit more). Yeah… I noticed your traffic dropped when the volmod gig went south… Guess the Reasons tipped the scale even further. Good luck.

@ironcheftoni I just came here in January. It is now February. I am much more new than you.
@Wollyhop and lookie here, already a goat! Hope you are enjoying the blame.

btw, your weather is here, drunk and peeing on our lawn. Come get it.

I spend most of my time on a music review forum: thehundo.boards.net
Its a ghost town, but it had great intentions at the start. We will gain traction eventually.
