Operational note: Most 12V “lighter sockets” are running off of a 10A fuse, and this unit will draw 40A when its peak supported load of 500W is reached. If you’re going to use more than 100W, and particularly if you’re going to do it for longer than just a few minutes, hook this up using 12ga or 10ga wire straight to the battery, using properly crimped terminals (preferably soldered and/or sealed) with a 50A fuse in the positive lead close to the battery. Those clamp leads are OK for short-term use, but even they will get hot at max rated load, and they might cause the voltage to drop enough for the inverter to shut down.
