I am usually hand in hand on my IRK to BOC ratio. I always seem to score a BOC the day before or after a Meh-rathon! Yesterday I was out and didn’t hear the notification for that BOC you snagged but I saw it when I got home. I’m betting I’ll get one in the next week if not tomorrow!
@werehatrack - Does anyone “need” an IRK?
YES, I DO! IF I’m going to keep up with my IRK to BOC ratio I most certainly NEED both the IRK and BOC!
Lol
@Lynnerizer I have never scored a BOC, and given their “the BOC shall contain three things, and the number of things in the BOC shall be three” decree a while back, I stopped giving it even a token try. I don’t even get notified of a woot-off anymore. (Also, my estimate of the crap-to-decent-stuff ratio over at Woot is much worse than it is over here.)
@werehatrack
Oh wow I’m going to say that you’ve been miss guided. That’s never been my experience with any BOC! While they changed their boxes to a little bit of a smaller size with a huge yellow question mark on its side about a year and a half ago I think you get a little less. But then again I’ve also gotten a shipment in 2 different boxes when 1 wasn’t large enough. I’ve gotten lots of expensive shoes and sneakers, Merrill hiking boots, a large 30’ pool, baking pans, a grill and lots of fun stuff. And that’s not to mention all the useful little things that I didn’t even know I needed. 🪇
I’m don’t remember ever getting less than 10 items. Except for when the pool came and I asked why only 2 or 3 items were in the box and they said that’s just part of my shipment, my order had been broken up into 2 shipments. Surprise surprise…
Anyway, I think you’re missing out if you’re not even trying, especially when it’s ONLY $10.00! Give it another shot and turn on your notifications! Good luck!
Revised And Even Worse:
To clarify, because we always seem to end up with somebody who doesn’t immediately grasp the details:
Only purchases made from the Meh dot com site during the Mehrathon can count toward the IRK partial refund. Purchases on SideDeal, Morningsave, Casemates and that other if-it-still-exists-J-something site do not count.
If you buy an IRK and also make one Meh purchase during the Mehrathon, you will eventually get $0 refunded to your method-of-purchase, because the deal this time requires three purchases.
If you buy an IRK and also make two purchases from two different sale listings during the Mehrathon, you will eventually get $0 refunded to your method-of-purchase because the deal this time requires three purchases.
It should be noted that not only are three purchases required, they must be from three different sale listings on the Meh dot com site. By way of example, buying two different items from the same sale listing (like one pack of blue socks at 2:07AM and one pack of green socks from the same listing but bought at 8:43AM) only counts as one unique item for refund purposes. (“Unique” has a meh-unique meaning here.) *You need a total of three purchases made from three different listings during the 'Thon in order to qualify for an IRK refund.
Continuing on…
If you buy an IRK and also make three purchases from three different sale listings during the Mehrathon, you will eventually get $15 refunded to your method-of-purchase. This is not guaranteed to reduce your regret at having bought an IRK.
If you buy an IRK and also make four or more purchases from three or more different sale listings during the Mehrathon, you will eventually get $15 refunded to your method-of-purchase. Glutton for punishment, much?
If you buy an IRK and also make one purchase from each and every different sale listing during the Mehrathon, you will eventually get $15 refunded to your method-of-purchase, and at least one staffer will point and giggle at the list.
If you do not buy an IRK but you make one, two, three or more purchases from different sale listings during the Mehrathon, you will eventually get $0 refunded to your method-of-purchase.
Items available during the Mehrathon but purchased before the 'Thon began or after it ends do not count toward an IRK refund. Sorry, any “oh, shit, can I cancel this thing I bought yesterday and rebuy it today during the 'Thon to get the IRK discount?” CS requests will get a sneer of derision (privately) and a polite response of “no.”
Hope that helps. (Powers that be, feel free to edit any errors.)
@dave@troy Does the proviso still apply from the last 'thon about stuff still live from previous days counting toward the IRK refund if bought during the 'thon? I ask because I noticed that the Mehrathon banner isn’t appearing on what I looked at from that category this time.
@werehatrack the crazy thing is, nowhere in the description of the IRK does it talk about having 3 unique purchaes to receive $15. It just says potential refund up to $15, but does not describe the requirements to receive it.
Sure it’s right there below where it says you can potentially get back $15. This time they didn’t go into the whole description of exactly what a unique item is along with the blow by blow examples like they usually do. Maybe they assumed everyone should know by now, maybe someone was working while feeling under the weather, or maybe, just maybe… they just got lazy and dropped the ball! Anyway, I’m sure that’s why werehatrack so kindly took the time to post all that here. Thanks!
@akumax@Lynnerizer@werehatrack But they don’t say if one was five bucks and two ten or if you had to buy all three to get anything. I assumed three but came here to find out. As I’m currently at, at most, two potential ‘thon purchases atm. Of course.
Or it could’ve been $14.99 refunded after one purchase and…
Well I would have loved it to be a $14.99 refund after only one purchase from the thon but then again WHY not just charge us $10.00 for the IRK in the first place…
Even Meh is leaving us saying “remember the good ole days”?
I didn’t find anything I couldn’t live live with out, besides the IRK that is.
Pretty sure I’m skipping this month, not sure there’s 3 unique things to make this worth it for me. Matador energy drinks could help or other cheap caffiene, consumables…
I told the world I was out after my last one that was woefully meh. I haven’t gotten a win in… shit, the Kenneth Cole puffer jacket, and she has worn that for years. I may change my mind, but I definitely am not ordering early like the last 3. They were shit.
Also, I remember a long time ago meh employees specifically put together irks for certain people. Meh exchange participants perhaps… but then super bowl ad money needs recouped by us suckers, and there hasn’t been anything remotely unique or personal in them like a switch or ps5 or something that meh doesn’t even sell like the old days. Or I guess what I am saying is I am not even remeniscing of the $5 try and score in the first 1.5 seconds. Just like… make at least a few of them fucking awesome so the kids can to tik and tok and influence away or whatever.
Finally found 3 items I might have a use for so figured I’d take one last gamble. Since the sale ends at midnight (which means it’ll be Friday the 13th!!) I might get LUCKY!!
Welp, I found two things I wanted in the 'thon, but not three, so no IRK for me. (I thought about tossing in a certain $6 item of no real utility, but nah, we’ve got too much crap like that around already.)
