The Breakfast Machine: Shoddy Goods 090
0I go through breakfast phases, and right now I’m squarely in the “no breakfast at all” version, but if I had a robot to make me a couple fried eggs, toast and hashbrowns I would definitely do that. What’s your breakfast routine, and how’s it changed over the years? Let’s talk in this week’s Shoddy Goods chat.

My typical everyday breakfast is a toasted bagel (with assorted toppings), coffee and fresh fruit (orange/banana/etc.)
If we have kids/guests visiting, it is usually something more involved.
I used to have a cheese onion bagel and coffee, years ago. Then I decided I needed protein in the morning because I could feel I wasn’t. I did the eggs with bacon/sausage toast and fruit for years.
My next phase was a protein bar or shake or more likely both. One of the diet type ones without much sugar
But I’m slowing down. And I am inherently lazy in the morning.
For the past couple year I do a hard boiled egg, 2 microwave sausage and a small portion of overnight oats. It works for me. I make the oats up in portions of 2-4 at a time depending on ingredients and need and do the same for the eggs. Makes it a quick way to sit down with fresh coffee and a book
I used to have Cheerios for breakfast but decided the ingredients were bad so I switched to organic Koala Crisp cereal, which was probably bad for a different reason. Now, on days when I go into the office, I have 2 scrambled eggs and then a protein bar when I get to the office. When I work from home I make a smoothie.
