There was a restaurant in Manhattan that I once loved. It’s gone now.
Sort of casual country French very well made.
They used to play instrumental jazz at a low level
The music volume was just a bit below the volume level of typical table conversation
The jazz was a bit conceptual, not too crazy or wild and free, not to obviously melodic or predictable, unlikely that guests would spend time listening or focusing to it
truly ambient in the best way.
It would’ve been very good listening to it in a club, but never the sort of jazz that would’ve created a media storm
The music was gentle and unobtrusive.
It seemed to be an perfect recipe for playing music that encouraged everybody to just relax and enjoy themselves and their company
I liked that they did that almost as well as I like the food and I like dragging people there
Being sure there’s no power to play anybody’s party playlist
@Cerridwyn
This!
Campfires with no speakers present perhaps.
Or quiet evenings with people who enjoy the quiet.
