Company can help. Radio or music. GPS is huge. But I’ve had to do long drives on uncomfortable seats and that was the worst. Comfortable seats matter. These kinds of seat cushions don’t make up for bad seats.
Many of the above; the right vehicle, good snacks, the right person along for the trip, proper rest stops, tunes on the jump drive or iPod, GPS plus a paper map, and a destination that you genuinely want to reach.

Not since the post 9/11 changes. I used to love flying.
Good rest stops. And the destination.
@heartny A big RV with a well working bathroom and good driver can take care of the first part. Just need a good trip planner/navigator for the rest.
