Posting this early so that you can lean into the bleakness. Who can share a shot of the most meh midday meal? (Or just describe it, as long as you do so in poetic detail.)
@Cerridwyn I tried that. I just snooze it and promptly forget again. I really need to just get in the habit of getting up every hour to move around and maybe that’ll help me remember to grab food while I’m up.
By the time I get home from my appointment it will be lunch but I’ll probably just eat the breakfast I’m skipping bc I was to tired to get up. So it will probably be yogurt and a banana or Frosted Flakes depending on how hungry I am.
Lunch today is cold salmon with brussel sprouts that are already cooked so I need to determine whether I’m eating them cold or whether I am going to Nuke them just a little bit to warm them up.
@Kyeh this went the best brussel sprouts in the world. I always forget that there are some vegetables I shouldn’t buy at Traders.
We have a fishmonger at one of the local farmers markets. He’s expensive but the quality of his fish is really damned awesome. So I get a small piece which is usually between three quarters and a full pound and make it into more meals.
And one of the biggest advantages of being retired is being able to eat what I want when I want it.
Best thing is to at least plan in your head. If you have trouble that motivating yourself make a meal plan and follow it and always make leftovers. Start by planning one meal and moving to another and adding it in. Sometimes breakfast is the easiest to plan and sometimes it’s not.
For dinner tonight is a small bit of ham and a salad. And probably some of my favorite popcorn that I use kind of like chips. Oh and jouest, with jouest diet Dr Pepper you don’t win you lose
I have post-its around my fridge that have a colored magnetic “thumbtack”. There’s so many I can’t match the colors (e.g. potatoes squash and steak all have pink pins, but so do grapefruit fish-nuggets and watermelon; I have dressing string to tie them together assuming the string doesn’t slip off when the fridge door opens - the string also goes around the door to the side…)
I mixed up morning - had a curry cookie and yogurt cup. Lunch became a bowl of Kix puffs and creamer and skim milk. Dinner should go better as I’m currently hauling groceries. (Or I could forget and go straight to bed.)
@jouest@Kyeh@pakopako Either way, the Thai treatment will accentuate the useful part of the peanut’s contribution and mask the nasty that makes me avoid traditional American baked goods that incorporate peanut butter. I like peanut butter in a bunch of its sandwich-y uses, but as an ingredient in US-style baking, it inevitably makes a thing that is solid sad to me. Other cultures seem to find ways to harmonize it into a greater whole.
@werehatrack have I had some that would have been a good thing to add but that is actually salmon. They were super awesome good tomatoes. She grows the absolute best tomatoes in the world
Roses are red
Violets are blue
I just have a salad
I wish it were stew
@yakkoTDI
That’s gonna be my dinner
I’m pretty sure I’m going to forget to eat again so…
air. (And probably iced coffee.)
@Thumperchick someone needs to set an alarm to remind them to eat
@Cerridwyn I tried that. I just snooze it and promptly forget again. I really need to just get in the habit of getting up every hour to move around and maybe that’ll help me remember to grab food while I’m up.
@Thumperchick have you tried setting an alarm where you have to get up to snooze it?
@Thumperchick
@Kyeh I ended up eating a string cheese, which is better than skip-its.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Thumperchick Whew! Maybe have another one?

@Cerridwyn The only thing sad about that (to me) is the Brussel sprouts, which I don’t like. Otherwise WOW, you make a splendid lunch!

OWLS! TOWELS! JOWLS! AWESOME!
@Cerridwyn Well, it’s admirable that you do that; I have trouble motivating myself to fix real meals even though I used to enjoy cooking.
@Cerridwyn WHAT DID YOU DECIDE?
@Kyeh @jouest

@Cerridwyn @jouest @Kyeh beats how I plan most things these days

That’s very accurate.

Behold my Diet Dr. Pepper in a fancy cup.
@jouest
@Kyeh am I winning?
@jouest Yes.
I mixed up morning - had a curry cookie and yogurt cup. Lunch became a bowl of Kix puffs and creamer and skim milk. Dinner should go better as I’m currently hauling groceries. (Or I could forget and go straight to bed.)
@pakopako Curry cookie?
@Kyeh something like this
https://www.vegetariantimes.com/recipes/thai-peanut-butter-cookies
@pakopako Huh! Interesting; I would think that’s pretty good.
@pakopako curry cookie
@Kyeh @jouest the curry just gives it a little heat; a friend’s mom uses Sriracha and habanero to really give it a kick

Today’s lunch
@Cerridwyn Sliced heritage-variety tomatoes with a bit of seasoning, and some artisan bread? I’d eat that.
@werehatrack have I had some that would have been a good thing to add but that is actually salmon. They were super awesome good tomatoes. She grows the absolute best tomatoes in the world
KRULL! A SKULL! BRETT HULL! AWESOME!
@Cerridwyn Salmon? Even better!
The place I volunteer leaves expired food from the cafe in the fridge. I scored ham and cheese rolls, only slightly squishy.
