The perfect Valentine’s Day gift is…No gift at all!! In fact The best thing is to not celebrate any holiday at all and save your money and silliness of celebrating holidays!
My husband and I used to go crazy with the gifts on Valentine’s day. Especially him. He has always loved spoiling me rotten. It took years for me to convince him that we didn’t need to bombard each other with presents, just going out to dinner is enough. Once in a while one or both of us will give the other something small for Valentine’s day, but not every year. We do give each other random gifts throughout the year, though. I think that’s more fun.
We do this thing where my wife says, “l really like that (espresso machine, rug, bathroom scale, etc.) but I guess we don’t really need it right now,” and then I buy the thing and tell her that’s her gift for the next Christmas, birthday, or Valentine’s Day. That way I don’t have to remember what she wants, she always gets the gifts she likes, and I don’t have to rush out and buy something lame at the last minute when I forget the holiday or birthday.
Just last week she got her gift for Christmas 2032.
