@Cerridwyn You are so right! I’m also in retirement and sometimes I have to remember that I can’t ask some of my friends to plan things during the week. Duh.
And on the “day is a day” subject, I remember when I was in rehab after a porch collapse accident and couldn’t understand why weekends at the rehab place were treated differently–fewer activities, services, and staff–than weekdays. It was all the same to me as a paying (via insurance) customer and our needs weren’t any different. I guess I should blame the goat (hi @milstarr!) even thought it was 14 years ago.
@Cerridwyn@ItalianScallion@milstarr I was not happy with the weekend program when DH was doing the rehab thing. I agree, if need to work out to get better, weekends are just another day. Why do less and more time to think?
@ItalianScallion@milstarr@speediedelivery
As a former hospital department director, I agree.
But Rehab therapists don’t want to work the weekends and will quit and go somewhere that they don’t have to even if they get paid a bit less.
@blaineg
my son wears one and is especially fond of going thru TSA in them. He says it is amazing how frazzled they get when he opts out on the scanner and they have to frisk him.
@Kyeh My company is 24/7 no matter what. I get the rare holiday off now. There was a stretch for about 8 years where I got no days off except weekends. I didn’t complain because my works was easy and the overtime was worth it.
@yakkoTDI For a good chunk of life I worked at places that were open every day of the year, Disney, movie theaters, and Blockbuster. I didn’t mind working the holidays because of overtime. My growing up in a Navy family often meant we celebrated holidays on our own schedule, if Dad was out of the country. And also having no kids helped. Later I worked for counties and credit unions. I had so many holidays I didn’t know what to do with myself!
We were doing prod releases weekly. They are re-jiggering every thing on short notice to monthly which really messes with the current timelimes, sheduled dates, plus adding overhead for documentation.
But what really bit me on the arse this week/sent off kilter was prod deployment is always on Tuesday. What all my behavior checks are set for plus alarms.
Except when there is holiday on Monday. But they still scheduled a Tuesday release. So I looked at the Tuesday release which had nothing for my area. Went ok we are good.
Until Wednesday, because they push releases back a day when there is a holiday. when we need a DBA at 1AM Thursday to change the database in sync with my code deployment.
@jouest@rockblossom At first glance I thought it said “verb” instead of “vibe” and I was thinking, “Yeah, I feel like meh-kiltering this weekend,” whatever that would be.
@ItalianScallion@jouest Meh-kiltering as a verb: Going to a Scottish gathering wearing a microfiber kilt with a strange flower pattern instead of a plaid.
hot take: the four day week is more consequential than the three day weekend
@jouest hey we’re running out of week for these friday deadlines, Mr Hot Take
A day is a day
Doesn’t matter after retirement save when it is a ‘places are closed’ kinda day
@Cerridwyn enviable. though I guess to be fair, this comment counts as work
@Cerridwyn @jouest More a labor of neener.

@ItalianScallion I’ll be happy to take 14 year old blame. I play the long game.

Not sure what constitutes a “weird short” but I do have some with some pretty wild patterns on them…
and no… I don’t have a kilt…
@chienfou Well why not?
@Cerridwyn
Knobby knees…
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Cerridwyn @chienfou own those things!
@Cerridwyn @jouest
yep… for almost 70 yrs!
@Cerridwyn @chienfou impressive. you should keep em.
@jouest
That’s the plan.
@chienfou Meh needs to sell Utilikilts.
@blaineg
my son wears one and is especially fond of going thru TSA in them. He says it is amazing how frazzled they get when he opts out on the scanner and they have to frisk him.
@blaineg @chienfou
That’s pretty mischievous of him!
@blaineg @chienfou I’m bemused at men wanting
skirtskilts though, because I prefer pants for most occasions.@blaineg @Kyeh
he says it’s always entertaining when they reach the hem of the kilt then will often actually pat down his bare legs…
@blaineg @chienfou That’s hilarious!!!
@blaineg @chienfou casemates doesn’t even sell mead though
@chienfou @Kyeh That’s marvelous! Tell him he’s got a fan.
@blaineg @chienfou @Kyeh It’s all about the breeze.
@blaineg @capnjb @chienfou Seems like culturally the wrong sex got assigned to wear skirts!
I normally work 5 days a week so not short here. I did see Jaws at Tampa Theatre though.
@yakkoTDI hmm
@yakkoTDI You don’t get holidays off?

@yakkoTDI
I see. I guess that’s not so bad!
@Kyeh @yakkoTDI
Yeah… I hear you… 7 on/7 off meant off on the holiday if it fell on your off week.

@yakkoTDI I miss the Tampa theater. That is a neat spot.

Yeah that got pushed to next week.
@unksol ew
Not off-kilter, or exactly on-kilter. Possibly a bit of late-week meh-kilter.
@rockblossom “meh-kilter” is a vibe
@jouest @rockblossom At first glance I thought it said “verb” instead of “vibe” and I was thinking, “Yeah, I feel like meh-kiltering this weekend,” whatever that would be.
@ItalianScallion @jouest Meh-kiltering as a verb: Going to a Scottish gathering wearing a microfiber kilt with a strange flower pattern instead of a plaid.
@jouest @rockblossom Yes, but does it have cargo pockets like the Utilikilt?
@mediocrebot Haha - it took you a moment, but okay, that’s pretty good!
@Rockblossom @ItalianScallion doesn’t look like there are any pockets.
If your hand touches metal, I swear by my pretty floral kilt I will end you.
I’ve decided to complicate the weeks by taking today & Monday off too.
@blaineg diabolical.
