To carry off superfluous bile and prevent its morbid excretions — to restore and amend the appetite — produce a free perspiration, and thereby prevent colds … celebrated for removing habitual costiveness — sickness of the stomach and severe headaches — and ought to be taken by all persons on a change of climate.
A sovereign remedy for colds, obstinate coughs, catarrhs, asthma, and approaching consumptions.
A safe and effectual remedy for acute and chronic rheumatism, gout, palsy, lumbago, numbness, white swellings, chilblains, sprains, bruises, pains in the face and neck, etc…
For the care of agues and intermittent fevers.
An infallible remedy for removing corns, root and branch, without giving pain…
I use youtube for vids of repairs, some for entire projects, most for just basic info and “hacks”. Also solid for skateboard vids, and a slew of music that isn’t streamed anywhere else. But the fucking ads nowadays…
@edguyver14 use a YouTube video ripping program; there are websites, browser extensions, and command-line desktop apps that do this. Then all you need to do is queue it from your local media player.
@chienfou If YouTube has fucking ads, they’re really well hidden. Just going full verbal Carl669 over there will get you demonetized and banned. Or so I’m told. I’m not a real content creator.
I don’t get to travel all that much, so I live vicariously through some of those that post vlogs as they make their way around the countryside. Latest “obsession” would be Upstate New York…to the point that Mrs. H. & I are going out that way for 10 days in the Fall (October). Starting in Niagara Falls, through the Finger Lakes & then over to the Adirondack area of eastern NY. First time ever heading that direction, so if you have any stories to share (to do’s or to avoid), I’d love to hear them (&/or see pics!)
I learned how to reset the oil service indicator on my VW Jetta. I’ll be damned if I could find it in the manual and the guys over at Midas completely jack up the whole instrument display every time and still don’t get it reset. I don’t let them touch it anymore. Oh, and I learned how to get the battery charger to recognize my Segway battery when I let it go completely dead for a couple years. That one was a real bitch! Thanks YouTube!
@ragingredd I’ll give it a try, thanks. I usually use Safari but I can use Firefox for YouTube. I didn’t realize uBlock origin blocked YouTube ads. No wonder Google came up with Manifest v3 to cripple it. I’ve been using 1Blocker as my ad blocker but I guess it doesn’t work on YouTube ads.
Fixing things, definitely. I had a fancy LG washer (I guess they are ALL fancy now) and it kept stopping with an error code. Found a video explaining how to get into service mode and try various self-tests. Well I found the problem area especially when it would go clunk bang on the high-speed spin test. Wrote it to the comments and within hours got a personal response from the creator. Explaining what it meant and that it was time for the whole washer to meet the Creator (not the video guy). It was essentially not fixable or would cost more than a new one on one of the many promo deals you can get.
I did manage to fix both my washer (door switch problem) and dryer (took out the whole drum and replaced a belt) by watching some excellent YouTube tutorials. I felt pretty pleased with my 5’1" female self, especially working in the cramped space of my grungy basement (the video guy was of course working in a clean spacious room with nothing else in it!)
Well I can’t find something old, usually music actually, rarely anything else

ASMR at bedtime. During the day I use it to share music…not my music, but songs I like that friends/family may not know yet.
Watching tubes of you. Yew tube was a better site but it didn’t last.
@yakkoTDI
@Kyeh @yakkoTDI Well, that was weird.

@edguyver14
Wait…WHAT… they have fucking ads now. Gonna have to check that out…

@werehatrack

@chienfou So was mine. Yours was better, IMO.
@chienfou I should probably avoid trying to do anything funny until my situation makes it possible for me to laugh again.
Old movies!
Dry bar comedy and local weather mostly.
Judging by the channels I’m subscribed to, which include Aging Wheels, Berm Peak, Project Farm, Sidetrack Adventures, and the Torque Test Channel …
Cat videos. Definitely cat videos.
Cat videos!

Entertainment
@rustyh3
That really does describe it.
All of the above
@bocoroth I agree 10000000% with that statement

When I need to learn how to fix something.
Nerdy things, comedians, and some music.
A momentary diversion on the road to the grave.
@UncleVinny That pretty much describes everything I do.
@SSteve @UncleVinny I thought that’s what THIS site is for. But this one leaves our beneficiaries plenty of cardboard boxes, many unopened.
Music, fix it, dumpster diving vids (crazy what people find in the dumpster), metal detecting and magnet fishing videos and other random stuff
Currently, one of my favorite content creators is Tod Maffin. That’s all I’ll say.
Also shorts about how Aliens get their Butts kicked if they try to invade earth. But there should be an ALL of the Above!
Mostly watching @letterman. But, yeah, the ads are intolerable. I put up with them for a little while at a time then take a break for a couple weeks.
@SSteve try ublock origin. I never get ads and its free!
@ragingredd @SSteve Letterman is great!!

Make an unremovable line on the bottom third of my oled tv screen
@russellmz There’s probably a video for that (to shake up the colors that are half-burnt into the OLED)
