@pmarin@Salanth I’m guessing it’s espresso with some tonic water. I do that sometimes too, but with unflavored seltzer water. Quite refreshing and with a good decaf like Peets, it will taste good and won’t keep you awake.
The canned cold-brews can be good but vary a lot. Many are sweetened but not too much; others straight black.
Be careful about high caffeine content (some call that a feature) if you are trying to limit high doses of caffeine at one sitting (on advice of cardiologist or you just don’t want that much caffeine buzz at once.) I’ve seen 50-200mg for a “serving”. These aren’t “energy drinks” but some like Vietnamese cold brew are very high caffeine, and also tasty.
When I did long drives, I would have cans of cold brew along with juices and seltzer in a “pantry” in the truck. (Bag behind front seat I could reach into). For the high-caffeine ones I’d force myself to limit to 1/2 can, then maybe a few hours later for a boost, finish the rest of it.
@pmarin
Just did a solo driving in an RV from San Francisco to Central Alabama over 3 and 1/2 days. Mainly did mine on diet Dr pepper and discounted chocolate glazed donuts from Walmart!
@pmarin my go to is La Colombe Triple. Also, the little double shot espresso and cream from Starbucks are my very favorite thing they make, in-store drinks included (but those aren’t cold brew).
I try not to drink a lot of caffeine. Most of my iced teas are herbal but I do currently have a white blueberry iced tea in the fridge, which has light caffeine.
With my hot teas I alternate between teas with caffeine and herbal teas.
I do not like coffee, tea or soda pop. My dad got his caffeine though Mountain Dew denying that is why he drank it (also not a coffee or tea drinker) although I understand it is the pop (see what I did there? ) with the highest caffeine level. I prefer to get mine through Trader Joe’s pound plus chocolate.
My preference is iced tea. After that a good cold brew, black or with a hint of a good syrup. One place I go has a juniper strawberry that is very tasty. The juniper adds something I never knew I was missing.
Depending on how much you believe the coffee research being done today, leaving out the milk, even non-dairy variety, makes the coffee healthier.
And yes, I’m one of those who buy it out, cold brew. It’s better usually or at least often do. And I never have freezer room for ice, LOL. I keep trying to fix that and failing.
Almost went iced Americano, but I prefer just espresso pulled over ice, no added water. What I have way more often, though, is cold brew. It’s just so much less fussy.
@mschuette@yakkoTDI A local grocery store had tiny pods of Stōk on clearance. Like same size as little creamers. Not coffee pods for brewers; just concentrated cold brew. They were sold as “add some coffee to your coffee.” Or like maybe if you end up in a Denny’s or something (why?).
Anyway mild taste and 40mg/capsule which I think is reasonable. Not sure if they still sell them.
@pmarin@yakkoTDI Stok is pretty good. I think I like Chameleon better, but not enough to spend more when I’m buying premade cold brew. I do make demerara simple syrup to use in cold coffee and mixed drinks, and I think that is nearly as important as the coffee, for me.
Cold brew with vanilla ice cream.
@yakkoTDI I forgot about Coca-Cola BlāK which is tied for first place. Or would be if they still made it.

@yakkoTDI infuse your coffee with cola flavored soda steam!
Iced white mocha, made with my Nespresso machine that I received in a $5 fukubukaro years ago.
It was Nitro Pepsi. Alas.
Iced espresso.
How about NONE of the Above!
Espresso tonics are nice once in a while.
@Salanth what’s an espresso tonic?

@pmarin very valid and thank you for posting, i wonder if some did not know that?

Chocolate Milk, get the caffeine and the calories for the win.
first is dunkin’ frozen, second is the vietnamese coffee i just tried last week, but only if your blood sugar is low
When out of cold brew an iced americano with sparkling water does the trick too.

Iced Coffee 4 Lyfe.
Cold Brew 4 Never.
@ChadP I find it hard to make cold brew at home that I like as much as I can get at a coffee shop.

@mschuette I am glad I like the brand STōK for cold brew. Cheaper than a coffee shop and way easier than making it myself.
The Extra Bold flavour is my top pick.

EDIT I see they still have them; mine were sold as “Black Coffee shot”

@mschuette @pmarin I used to buy Chameleon but they say it is a concentrate but it didn’t seem strong enough to be a concentrate to me.
If I go to Starbucks it’s a cold caramel macchiato with oat milk, if I’m at home it’s pop, usually Dr Pepper.
Hot. I like my cold coffee to be served hit.
