Your own special item.
8I have an orange notebook. It’s battered and almost a year old, and almost full. It is one of my favorite possessions. Why? Well, besides being mostly full of drawings and random notes, it has an important purpose. It holds the manuscript to two of my stories (Pufferfish with Lips, and The Demon Lord.). It has it all, scrapped texts, ink stains, and a whole lot of words. So, basically, what I am asking is: Do YOU have your own special little object(s)?

Just a few items
@ybmuG
SWMBO and I reference this scene all the time when we say we need to “get something(s)”.
@chienfou @ybmuG I did it yesterday, getting out of the car to go inside the house. I need this bag, and this jacket…. And this remote control, and paddle game. That’s all I need.
And this dog….
I don’t need this dog.
I have the same leather jacket I bought when I was 16. I got it at an actual mall ~30 years ago
@joebuddah I still have a Levi’s denim jacket that I got when I was ~17. (That was in the mid-1970’s - and yes, it’s a little tight, but I can still put it on!)
@joebuddah Always wanted a big coat. I did get one from my grandfather.
Eh, back in the day I had one of those fat multi-divider spiral notebooks that I kept a LOT of stuff in including life inspiration but also notes on organization procedures AND the kids I worked with and one day I left it on my desk and one of the kids took it and I never saw it again (I knew who it was but there was nothing I could do about it). There was a big hullabaloo from my ‘superiors’ because of the organizational notes but there was a lot of personal stuff in there too and I guess the moral of the story is, BACK UP YOUR DATA.
@aetris was it the Trapper Keeper? Or wait - was that the Mead 5-Star?
@aetris @ybmuG Trapper Keeper > Mead 5 Star
@aetris @tinamarie1974 oh, so you wanna start that battle up again??? Just cause I couldn’t afford the Trapper Keeper, didn’t mean all your preppy Trapper kids should look down on us 5-star kids!
@tinamarie1974 @ybmuG - Sorry, it was one of those even cheaper 5-subject college-ruled 6x8 spiral-bound ones.
@aetris @ybmuG who me?!?!??! Dude, my parents shopped at Wal-Mart so I am thinking they wernt THAT expensive lol. But yes, I did try to be trendy when they could afford it and I could get them to buy whatever
I specifically remember owning both of these bad boys
@aetris @tinamarie1974 What??? You mean there was no
/showme Trapper Keeper notebook with a picture of Wonder Woman on the cover
@aetris @ybmuG I looked, because there are expectations. I found zero sigh…

@aetris @tinamarie1974 @ybmuG

Heheheheheheheh
Oh, and when I went to school, not only did we have to walk uphill both ways against the wind and barefoot, we were lucky if we had such a thing as [Duo-tang] store-bought folders, because we had to make our own textbook covers- usually from [the much heavier duty-then] brown ‘paper’ grocery bags.
Whippersnappers, in-finks, babies…
@aetris @PhysAssist @ybmuG oh I made paper bag book covers too!!!
@aetris @PhysAssist @tinamarie1974 I feel I got pretty good at it, too. At least that’s how I remember it!
Although I seem to recall someone (I’m sure it wasn’t me) learned the hard way that coloring the covers with marker was a bad idea…
@aetris @tinamarie1974 @ybmuG
The bot did a pretty nice job of that!
@aetris @Kyeh @tinamarie1974 except it’s not a Trapper Keeper. I guess the bot’s too young.
I have a key fob from the real estate agent who sold me my first house in 1980. It now holds a key to the apartment I live in.
I have a small size 3-ring notebook with lyrics and chords and some tab that was mostly put together 50 odd years ago that I still occasionally (rarely) pull out to remember how to play a song from the past. The blue fabric cover is only a little frayed and most of the pencil is still legible.
Probably my photos. I do have a couple memento boxes that I put stuff in from time to time. Also my shoes, jewelry and shot glass collection.
I found a little impulse buy at a small gift shop this summer, a tiny bluebird in silvery blue glass, which came with a card saying it’s “The Bluebird of Happiness.” I carried it my purse and kept forgetting to give it to my elderly mother. I finally remembered a few weeks ago, and she LOVES it! My brother said she marvels at it every day when she sees it, and she even called me to say how beautiful it is.
It makes me happy that she’s so happy with it; not too many things interest her anymore.
@Kyeh so sweet!
Lucky!
(You specified ‘little’, otherwise I’d include Fenris.)
@PooltoyWolf I guess I’ll do a separate post soon and not specify size.
/showme a refrigerator full of happy batteries
I still have a nine inch nails shirt from the first show I went to sans parents in 94? That and a hat a friend made me when I lived and worked in Yosemite a very long time ago.
I’ve got a painting of myself hidden somewhere in a castle.
@pakopako Do you look ridiculously young for your age?
@Kyeh @pakopako If you are hidden in the castle how do we know it is a painting of you?
/giphy private insanities

@f00l Is that a really young Shatner?
@Kyeh
I think so.
@f00l @Kyeh Some classic Twilight Zone, right there.
