@ardycake@robson@yakkoTDIloads of current-manufacture stuff still uses usb-micro, for any number of reasons. I suspect that some of them have stuck with micro by virtue of “It ain’t broke for us, so let’s not ‘fix’ it.” Yes, such devices tend to be lower-end, and perhaps you just don’t shop there, but it’s where some of us live, out of necessity.
@ColeSloth Our mistake – these are actually USB-C and description has been updated.
EDIT: Receiving reports that we’ve sent customers both Micro USB versions and USB-C versions of this headphone. I’m having our warehouse verify for us, but for now I’ve updated our description to state “Micro USB or USB-C”. I’ll confirm once I hear back.

EDIT – They are Micro USB. Sorry, y’all. We’ve notified customers.
@Neech Were the last set whites? My last set were the reds and they all worked great.
This time around I got the one working pair you predicted and two left-only. Wish it was a left-only and a right-only because I only wear one at a time anyway but who wants to deal with the extra case?
@mediocrebot@therealjrn I’m just surprised the hand and number of fingers appear correct. Although the sound is inside the headphones, but the ears are on the outside.

@2many2no@jvanj@Thumperchick Thank you for the report. I’m having our warehouse double check and verify – for now I’ve updated our description to state Micro USB or USB-C.
I bought these some time back. The black were USB C and white were micro USB. Seriously though…I use these in the AM so my wife can sleep in. For the price, they are amazingly good. Just don’t expect airpod / Google buds for this price point.
@kenrose Good to know the chargers are inconsistent. I bought red last time around. They work well enough as backups for when I’ve lost both pairs of my real earbuds. The main problem I’ve had is the magnets broke in one of the cases so they pop out when the lid isn’t on. Otherwise, worth the price for sure. Much better than the Aukey ones they sold of which I have a dozen pairs in the electronics recycling box (most of them never having worked at all).
@mediocrebot The State of California is known to cause cancer. So are all of the others, to varying degrees. (Delaware causes lots of it, and mostly not in Delaware.)
@customers We’ve learned that these units all have a Micro USB port and include Micro USB charging cables. We apologize for the confusion – please write into support if you need to cancel your order.
@troy Interesting. The Georgia Red ones I bought on Sidedeal in March look identical to these, but have a USB-C charging port. The product page is here and it says the port is microUSB even though it actually is USB-C. Could that be the same with this latest offer?
I bought two in the mehrathon. Worst ever. Kept falling out while riding a scooter. Often had static or disconnected and battery life was questionable. I picked up some at Dollartree for $7.50 that were 10 times better. Maybe these have been sitting around for too long.
@bruno187 You are so right. I have tried all 4 and they either won’t pair or they have static. They suck. I wish I had read the reviews before I bought them.
What was the final decision on USB-C versus micro?
Trying to migrate everything out into USB-C and don’t want to add an entire new inventory of micro USB products into the mix.
After reflecting on it a bit I decided I’m going to go ahead and keep mine. As mentioned before, $5 a set is a pretty sweet price point. I have a couple of micro to USB-C adapters so I’ll dedicate one to permanent residence in the back end of the case. That way it will effectively be a “USB-C” set of ear buds. If I want to get really fancy I’ll glue it in place…
Okay… it’s been a few days now.
As mentioned above I’ve ‘resolved’ the micro USB issue. My one (other) complaint is that these are super finicky about range and interference. Had my phone sitting 10 ft from the car while I was washing it the other day. Every time I would get on the back side of the RAV (i.e. car between earbuds and phone) these would start getting very wonky. Cutting in and out, dropping signal, etc. My “wired wireless” ifrogs sound hubs are much much better about keeping a stable connection. I can use them almost 100 ft away line of sight with no problems. Having them on the opposite side of my barn from the cource and being 50 feet away doesn’t give them fits either. Now that I know that these are pretty much line of sight and 30 ft or less I will make adaptations accordingly. But in this day and age it’s a bit disappointing.
So far these have been pretty good about staying in my earswhich was a problem I had with non-connected earbuds in the past. I was able to put a set of hearing protectors on over the top of them while I was mowing without dislodging them, which is pretty much my gold standard for usability. As for the audio, they sound pretty good, at least to my untrained ears… of course, I’m almost deaf in my right ear so, there’s that.
At $5 per set I’m ok with it.
As always…YMMV.

@ardycake @bransonboyds I stand corrected, I thought I saw micro usb on the manufacturer’s product page… guess not.
@ardycake @bransonboyds @robson They changed it - see troy’s note below
@ardycake @robson Thats some funny stuff!

@troy It’s been 11 hours… Are they not all the same? Are some USB-C and some Micro-USB?
@richrauch IIANM, the warehouse staff isn’t 24/7.
@richrauch @werehatrack
Seems like someone would be there by 11:25(am) on a Thursday.?!
The last set of these I got only the left one worked. I guess with 4 sets I should be able to get at least 1 working pair.
@Neech Were the last set whites? My last set were the reds and they all worked great.

I just bought Ok Bluetooth headphones for a low $16… Over half off thought that was a deal. That’s only enough for two ears.
This is enough for someone with 8 ears for $20.
Meh always does this… Sells something cheap the week after I was buying.
I prefer headphones to earbuds… But three spare pair is pretty decent.
/showme someone with 8 ears listening to music
@OnionSoup So maybe go buy some headphones now (but leave them in their package!)
You’re weird, @mediocrebot those ears are asymmetrical!
@mediocrebot @therealjrn I’m just surprised the hand and number of fingers appear correct. Although the sound is inside the headphones, but the ears are on the outside.
KuoH
@kuoh @mediocrebot @therealjrn The implication is that the person has five pairs of ears.
@kuoh @mediocrebot @therealjrn @werehatrack The implication is that they have 4 on one side and 5 on the other.
@OnionSoup It looks like someone with 56 ears purchased seven 4 packs.

@ecogrrl for this price, you totally could. Then ask for “whatever you want to pay” or some innocuous way to recover part of the cost, maybe….
Bought some of these last time. One of the ear buds never charges more than about 10% so they never last more than less than an hour.
Unless meh bought a new distressed lot since the last Mehrathon, they are absolutely micro-usb.

Got mine yesterday. Not overly mad about micro USB as I still have a ton of micro USB cables from years gone by.
Sound quality is pretty good for what amounts to $5 bluetooth headphones. The earbuds themselves aren’t uncomfortable.
Overall, I’m fine with these.
These are crap. I’ve only charged one set but it would not take a charge after more than 24 hours.
