I still have a bunch from my last purchase. Works well. I used this to keep a table top on top of a set of metal legs that are joined with a cross beam. Only used 1.5 inches in 4 places to keep the tabletop from moving around. Almost gave myself a hernia trying to separate it months later.
“Non-adhesive”. “Micro suction cups”. Riiiiight. Sure. I’ve used sticky-surface traction tape and sheet for lots of things, but that bit about “micro suction cups” has my Marketing Idiot Warning alarm fully set, and refusing to cancel. Even a temporary adhesive like a traction sheet is still adhesive, or it wouldn’t be sticky.
@werehatrack If it’s like other nanosuction tapes, It’s a foam with microscopic pores that act like suction cups. It doesn’t work on surfaces that aren’t flat. You can’t really stick it to a t-shirt, for example, but if you stick it to a granite countertop you’ll struggle to remove it.
I wonder if this would work to hang pictures and stuff in an apartment?
My youngest is moving into her first college apartment soon and they aren’t even allowed to use command strips on the walls (because of the adhesive). Maybe this could work for lighter things…
@k4evryng@yeppers just add some damage due to hanging posters to the move in damage report. No one will check and when you move out you have proof the damage was there before you arrived.
@k4evryng Sure thing should work wonders for pulling chunks of plaster off walls and/or peeling the surface layer of drywall off!!
Just peel that mistake away!!!
@k4evryng Use painter’s tape to keep lightweight things up. I have stuff up in my apartment that way that isn’t framed yet. No problems yet with removing it (sometimes it self removes) or damage even if it has been up for several years when I finally have a coupon to frame one more thing at 50% off.
@k4evryng@Kidsandliz
My experience suggests using the painter’s tape as an underlayment and the alien stuff between that and the wall hangings.
The painter’s tape [if it’s of a reasonable quality brand] should release cleanly, but hold well enough to have the double-sided tape adhere adequately to it.
@k4evryng@PhysAssist That’s a good idea. The painter’s tape sometimes stick to the paintings as well (sticks to the wall just fine). Of course using this tape on sale today on whatever is going to be hung on the wall presumes that one will never want to remove that tape from whatever is being hung… so there is that.
@ergomeh@yeppers@dahobbs9 yeah…I think I’d like to at least have a shot at getting our security deposit back, so pulling chunks out of the drywall would not be ideal!
@physAssist@kidsandliz thanks for the painters tape tip! I didn’t realize this stuff would damage paint/walls, ect…so I’ll remember to be careful of the surfaces I use it on.
And my college kiddo will not be allowed near this stuff…at home or in her apartment!!
@dpease I am in the same boat. I bought the water proof tape offered awhile back, and struggle to find a place to keep it. Had the same debate buying these. Hope I find a good use
@agnesnutter Yeah, our bad on that… we were showing some images for the waterproof repair tape that’s on SideDeal currently. New images have been loaded!
@uscpsycho It’s noted in the video. The one that has an easy-listening version of “The La’s - There She Goes (The Perks of Being a Wallflower)” in the background that I’m wondering if they actually licensed.
@customers we had some of our images showing the waterproof tape we’re selling on SideDeal. If you bought on Meh and are wanting double-sided sticky tape for hanging stuff, you’re all good! If you want waterproof repair tape, buy the stuff on SideDeal. If you need to cancel, please “whisper” here on the forums and I’ll make sure we get it taken care of.
Just used a piece of this YESTERDAY to fix a leak in a pool inflatable lounger. At first didn’t want to stick but that was because it was a bit damp still. Left it in the sun a few minutes and once dry the same patch piece stuck fine-- even though it had been damp from the first attempt. Hole sealed and ready to go. This stuff really works!!
@chienfou You used double sided tape which is on here to fix it or did you use the single sided waterproof tape currently on sidedeal (and sold here in the past) to fix it?
@chienfou Good to hear! That’s the waterproof tape that we’re selling on SideDeal. This stuff here on meh is double-sided sticky tape for hanging things, keeping rugs stuck to the ground, etc.
@PhysAssist should that be malicious past toffee? Anyway, forget that twat. Could probably permanently stick this ironing board to the locker room wall with this stuff. Would at least stop him throwing himself all over the field
@jljoslin I have an 8x10 frame hanging on my wall with it and I’ve had several different people try to pull it off and they could not. I am afraid as they are if I force it is going to do the same thing to my wall.
The waterproof tape on SideDeal says temporary, sticks for 24 hours. Can anybody with experience using this stuff speak to how long it actually stays on?
@PeacefulEasy I’m not sure about the wording. I almost want to say it takes 24h to form a completely watertight seal.
I’ve used mine (alien shield) mostly indoors (to stick permanently to drywalls) but I do have a loop outside dangling a lamp to a wooden beam in a shed (the tape had trouble sticking to the wood itself). It’s been there for months.
@steelopus a family member bought some years ago and had the same problem with paint. Finally discovered it was buried in the tiny print. She used it on tile flooring with no issues.
Hey there brother, have you heard the good news about Gaffer Tape? That’s what you actually want for fixing everything. My experience with alien tape is that it’s a worst of both worlds situation—doesn’t stick very well AND damages many surfaces.
@grovberg My best gaff tape fix was more or less accidental.
My ragtop was vandalized in front of a friend’s house. We were both theater electricians at the time, and decided to stick some gaff over the wound temporarily. I don’t remember why, but I didn’t make insurance fix it – just drove around that way for a while.
I wound up in South Georgia with the tape still on the roof. My mom took it on herself to sew the tape down. Thing is, it was a sunny day in July in almost-Florida.
The black tape and the black top melted the latex adhesive on the back of the gaff tape. Mom’s repair pushed the latex through both layers of fabric, and it stayed sealed for as long as I had the car.
Always wondered if these work as well as they say… I hope it doesn’t ruin my flooring if I use it to hold down a rug rumple.
/giphy ungainly-grilled-chipmunk
@jrwofuga I put it over a crack in my margarita class. I’ve been drinking margaritas continuously for 24 hours to test it out and the tape is still holding up. More than I can say about myself…

@yakkoTDI I sure hope not! They’re already damn near indestructible, lol.
Oh, I’ve actually been waiting for this! Weird!

Is this the legal or illegal version?
@ShotgunX if on this site probably gray area version.
@pmarin @ShotgunX
It is apparently from the grays…
@ShotgunX warning! Possessing alien tape is considered a red flag to ICE and is considered a justification to deport you.

Hell+Bowell at their finest.
@werehatrack you forgot “two-sided”. So much better than that 3 or 4 sided crap.
20-sided or it’s not good enough.
@mike808 @werehatrack If you cut a length, twist one end 180° and connect to the other end (as in a loop) it will be one sided.
I wonder if this would work to hang pictures and stuff in an apartment?
My youngest is moving into her first college apartment soon and they aren’t even allowed to use command strips on the walls (because of the adhesive). Maybe this could work for lighter things…
@k4evryng According to the specs above,
So I wouldn’t try it, but then again, it’s not my security deposit.
@k4evryng @yeppers just add some damage due to hanging posters to the move in damage report. No one will check and when you move out you have proof the damage was there before you arrived.

@dpease @harvid1 kind of hope you don’t
I liked getting these, only because I had so many holes to patch (still do, I’m just being ‘summer lazy’ about it; I’ll be ‘winter lazy’ later)
This is some of the best tape I’ve used. It’s right up there with the waterproof tape.
30mm wide, so just over an inch and an eighth. It looks like a 2" packing tape roll in one of the photos, and it’s definitely NOT that size.
Both sample images are showing single-sided uses, which feels like a bad choice.
@agnesnutter Yeah, our bad on that… we were showing some images for the waterproof repair tape that’s on SideDeal currently. New images have been loaded!
@agnesnutter @troy wait, are these the same that were sold before? Those were single-sided.
@pakopako Sidedeal’s daily deal is the same we’ve sold before. This double-sided tape is new
I’d like to see a microscope image of these itty bitty suction cups.

@pakopako You used this double-sided tape outside? Or the stuff on Sidedeal?
So the consensus is that this is not safe for paint/drywall… but is it safe for hardwood floors?
Does anyone have experience in that regard?
@steelopus a family member bought some years ago and had the same problem with paint. Finally discovered it was buried in the tiny print. She used it on tile flooring with no issues.
