Dense black fruit flavors are underlined by warm spice and give way to charred oak in this robust wine. The vines of ‘Dragon Ridge’ produce big, rich wines that stand on their own or pair with bold, flavorful dishes.

About The Winery
Winery: Dragon Ridge
Location: Lodi, California
These wines are the stuff of legends, celebrated for their timeless allure and storied heritage.
Lodi is one of the most storied growing regions of California’s Central Valley, where vines used to grow along the river’s edge. It’s most well-known for old, fortuitous vines that produce wines of strength and character. The mountain range to the east resembles a sleeping dragon, one that overlooks and protects the vineyards, often cloaked in the early morning fog that burns to sun in the afternoon.
Dragon Ridge Wines are sourced from two vineyards in Lodi – Mettler Vineyards and Alabama Ranch Vineyard. Both vineyards are located in the Borden Ranch sub-appellation, which is known for having well-drained, deep red soil that produces well-structured and concentrated red wines. Fruit from Mettler Vineyards gives the wines a blackberry and currant flavor profile, while the fruit from Alabama Ranch provides the earthy nuances. Using Flash Détente technology, we are able to craft wines with impeccable balance, color, and structure each vintage.
I just read an article the other day about how American winemakers are having trouble keeping sales up with… everything going on. And now some California wines across each of the daily deals sites… hmmm…
@legume0490 they do the cross-to-Meh deals every few months. Usually once or twice around the holidays too.
I don’t go out too often but it’s still restaurant wine prices that drive me crazy. Yes I know there is service and glasses and some needed profit for them, but what has become 3-4x markup is hard to accept especially on a medium-expensive wine. Unless you are on a business expense account, but I think a lot of that has been cut back; probably also means not as many expensive wine sales.
@legume0490 I remember in early 2000s there was a “California wine glut,” and this led to the original Two-buck Chuck which was only $1.99 in California. Some early vintages were pretty good which led to its early-Internet fame. Got disappointed a few times since then so generally avoid it now. But it is 20 years later; things change.
EDIT damn, maybe 25 years later.
@Trinityscrew That’s not the point. It’s as much as anything for people who buy these wines and have a CT account to be able to quickly and easily add their purchases without having to search for the wines.
If you look on Casemates, whenever a new wine goes up one of the first posts is always the CT link(s), regardless of whether or not there are reviews.
@craigthom@TimW well, I noticed it higher in the Zin. Lodi is a hot Summer climate, though known for Zin, but that may explain some of it. Also some interesting blends including that they include “mixed reds,” especially funny as even the Red Blend has mixed reds as an ingredient. Very meta.
@sarahsandroid
I feel your pain down here in central AL. But I’m going to visit my daughter in Tennessee in a couple of weeks…
/eightball should I order? Better not tell you now
I’m running a wine pull for my son’s music program boosters next month and this will be perfect to round out the selection. Half for charity, half for me. I’m for a dozen. Thanks Meh
@matttys Never heard of BevMo before but when I looked into their offer unfortunately only ship to a few states: "We currently ship to the following states: CA, AZ, FL, NE, ND, NM, OR, DC, WA, and WY. "
When I racked up a sample order for one of the above states a case of 12 bottles came out to be $137 after tax and shipping. A case from here cost me, cause i’m a member, $98 shipped. That’s a $40 discount not counting the $10 coupon for CM. I think non-members it’s $1/bottle so $110 with shipping; a $27 difference. So you’re not wrong.
@matttys@toddlamp it is a West Coast chain (Beverages and More) with retail stores. So of course if you can get to a store there is no shipping fee. I think they can even order stuff that’s not in stock for shipment to that store. Seem to have friendly employees. And occasional tastings.
Glad to see this back again. Originally picked up a 6 pack the 1st time. Wife and I both liked it so much I picked up a case the 2nd time.
Again, in for a case. Only this time I think I’ll hide a few bottles, my wife killed it last time.
OK as far as Bevmo goes, if you are able to do in store pickup total comes out to $117.56 Meh is still slightly better deal at $97.19 plus $10 coupon.
@emtilt they have always emailed the code to you…you have to enter it in the coupon field on a future order, and it will only let you use it if it’s enabled on your account.
@pmarin@thechilipepper0
In general I agree, but I’ve found UPS seems to be much more site dependent. Some charge, some not at all; personal experience in SoCal.
I think other facilities will also hold but have no personal experience with any of them. Some large stores, Walgreens perhaps? and pretty sure other other large/franchise facilities, as well as mom&pop shipping stores. Haven’t needed so haven’t researched those.
relished-amethyst-strawberry
?? Thought i had ordered wine, and don’t expect relish to have fruits and rocks in it.
Unless they are hinting at Sangria and the “rocks” are ice cubes.
But isn’t Sangria a kids’ drink and maybe i’m just too old for it?

This deal is just a bunch of sour grapes.
Being an alcoholic is expensive. I can’t afford these luxury prices with the fancy glass bottle. I’ll take my cirrhosis in the boxed form.
@lonocat seems that this should have posted by @drunkcat. Being an AI it should have picked up on it right away/
The disadvantage of living in Utah, you can better get anything alcohol related shipped here.
@user26303425 I’ve seen Book of Mormon. I feel like there are more. (j/k, I think)
Dragon Ridge is too boring. They should rename it to something like Dragon Splooge. I would buy 2 cases.
@Num1Zero If you caress the dragon ridge correctly, you’ll fill your bottles easily.
@mcanavino @Num1Zero I think it’s called ‘pourplay’
Can we get multiple coupons, e.g. if we get 2 different types of 6-packs?

Oops…
@ShotgunX Asking the real questions here

@Foobarski So…
None of the wines you provided links for have been reviewed on that site.
NOTE that the residual sugar in these is higher than your typical dry red wine…I think these would be considered “off-dry”.
@TimW that’s disappointing
@craigthom @TimW well, I noticed it higher in the Zin. Lodi is a hot Summer climate, though known for Zin, but that may explain some of it. Also some interesting blends including that they include “mixed reds,” especially funny as even the Red Blend has mixed reds as an ingredient. Very meta.
This wine is better than all the whining “AI” users make to try to be taken seriously about their lead paint tier plagiarism machine.
@DrunkCat That statement looks to be A. I. generated. Maybe that’s why they left you.
/showme lead paint tier plagiarism machine
@mediocrebot Is that paint in the lead or does it contain lead?
@yakkoTDI And the truth is revealed: “@DrunkCat” is “AI”!
@mediocrebot That looks lika a Chinese knock-off of the original German design.
@mediocrebot @rpstrong Would buy it online but the tariff would kill me, plus no room because of stacked boxes of wine.
I wish Alabama wasn’t in the no ship zone
. I can get hard alcohol shipped here but nothing fun from Mercatalyst. Very odd.
@sarahsandroid

I feel your pain down here in central AL.

Thanks for nothing /8 Ball
@chienfou @sarahsandroid “It is decidedly so”
Bought the case/12 last time…it didn’t last long. Great deal.
I mean… I’ve made worse choices

Fwiw, these are BOGO at BevMo…$10/bottle, final gravity.
So, while this is a spirited deal, it’s not as intoxicating as it would seem at first blush.
@matttys Never heard of BevMo before but when I looked into their offer unfortunately only ship to a few states: "We currently ship to the following states: CA, AZ, FL, NE, ND, NM, OR, DC, WA, and WY. "

Hey meh staff (like @troy)…Any idea on when to expect this if I have it shipped to my daughter’s house in Tennessee?
@chienfou Current ETA is May 8th-12th but it may be a bit earlier
@troy
I also forgot to ask: What is the expiration on the coupon? Need to know so I can plan trips to places I can actually get this!!
@chienfou @troy The coupon will be good through 12/31/2025
Why is the warranty only 90 days? Are these refurbished?
@toddlamp Not yet.
Q: Is it available in Georgia Red.
A: Sorry, only Dragon Ridge Red, but after you finish a couple of bottles, you might think it’s Georgia Red.
I liked them well enough from last time, and the $10 CM coupon pushes me over the edge:

/giphy gloating-nonsensical-sunflower

Glad to see this back again. Originally picked up a 6 pack the 1st time. Wife and I both liked it so much I picked up a case the 2nd time.

Here is a link to the comments on the prior mixed case offer on Casemates! Note that the Cab was 2021 and not 2022 like this current Meh offer.

How do you get the coupon? Is it in your account somewhere?
@emtilt they have always emailed the code to you…you have to enter it in the coupon field on a future order, and it will only let you use it if it’s enabled on your account.
@emtilt @TimW might not get email till it ships. This is normal.
I always want to bite, but it’s signature required and I know I’ll miss them
@thechilipepper0 have it shipped to a UPS store or a retailer that accepts UPS; done deal.
@rjquillin omg you’re right
@thechilipepper0
due to entirely to too many years sorting out how to receive shipments from w00t and then Casemates…
@rjquillin @thechilipepper0 FedEx used to hold at FedEx Office store for free; UPS charges a fee each time or a $20 yearly fee per-address.
@pmarin @thechilipepper0
In general I agree, but I’ve found UPS seems to be much more site dependent. Some charge, some not at all; personal experience in SoCal.

@mediocrebot The a.i. bot has some table-setting sense! (Though lousy version of sangria.)
@phendrick Hey, that’s the wine decanter Sidedeal has been selling for months!
@mediocrebot I’d be in for a case!
