Gin and tonic, preferably a frozen gin and tonic in the summer time. Hands down. Add a mosquito and extra quinine if your malaria titer is a bit low and you need an excuse
If you’re feeling adventurous or are out of gin, then tequila will do. If you’re out of tequila, then vodka as made by Ferdinand Petoit in the 1920s.
If you have no gin, no tequila, and no vodka, then more’s the pity. Rum will work, but it’s not the same in my book and one should just go with a rum collins.
If you have gin, but no tonic then a Gin Bloody Mary aka a Red Snapper (the original BM used vodka, but I prefer gin).
If you have no tomato juice, then use V8 and have an 8-Ball (made with the usual BM fixins, but with V8 instead of tomato juice, which is my personal preference.)
@Jackinga Also a lot of commercial Bloody Mary mixes are way too bloody salty as well. We are focusing on our health here, damnit!
V8 low sodium works well but add some Tabasco, fresh ground pepper, maybe a pickled pepper. I’ve seen trendy expensive places where a crisp stick of bacon is used as part of the garnish.
@cbilyak@G1 I have some friends of Russian-related descent. Of course there are movies where things go bad and then usually a war breaks out. But from my experience some shots of good vodka among friends or at least acquaintances is good.
Had some good friends of Mexican heritage but they did not drink. Some guys I knew did work for me a lot but they did not drink during the day work; probably good since they were working with power tools and climbing on the roof. Never got to hang with them at night but would do so. Despite what you hear, generally warm supportive people.
Answer to what liquor depends on who you are with and where you are. As mentioned a lot of island countries for Rum, which varies quite an bit. Eastern Europe along with Russian of course good for vodka, but don’t get the cheap stuff in the plastic bottles. A store near me still stocked Ukrainian Vodka which is rye-based. It has a subtle distinctive rye flavor. Western U.S. we have a lot of craft vodkas; some wheat-based.
It’s a gin-based liquor, then you add lemon-lime soda, lemon juice, things like strawberries, orange slices, cucumber, mint, and lots of ice.
I used to be all about gin and tonic with lime until Pimm’s.
@ragingredd I was just guessing that was maybe why they were selling well. Or maybe they just really like red? Hah, kind of funny in light of your user name.
Malibu Coconut rum.
How about a Mai Tai?

A Paloma always refreshes
@centexman made with Mezcal!
Rum is the libation of the Tropical Islands.

If you’ve been, you know.

I use water as a base for my tea or limeade.
Margarita!
Depends on my mood…but I tend to lean toward tequila or vodka

@cbilyak Tequila and vodka are used to alter my mood.
Tequila makes me angry and vodka makes me pissed-off.
So, anything else, but not too sweet. Sugary cocktails give me that sweet, sweet headache from hell.
