@jouest@Kyeh It’s true. I spend so much time cutting/prepping, seam ripping, and machine maintaining that actual sewing is only a small part of this hobby.
Test results of a DeWalt compatible battery with 21700 cells. That’s a solid 95% capacity result for any off-brand battery, let alone one that’s currently under $20 each when purchasing two.
@jouest well 30 years ago I was!!! Worked for a freight forwarder who had a small office in STL, so everyone ended up out there eventually, offloading/loading trucks/containers, building pallets, etc. I use to get dizzy stretch wrapping pallets, but Im short so someone would have to do the tops for me
These days I am only in the warehouses to do a walk thru of ours or to visit vendors and keep an eye on how they are handling/processing our freight.
And no, I did not drive into the suppoet beam, thank god. That guy was immediately let go…
@jouest@tinamarie1974 Umm, well- it’s more that I learned to drive a car kind of late! I drove the forklift at Celestial Seasonings while I was taking a couple of years off from college. It was still a crazy hippie place back then, it hadn’t been sold to Kraft yet.
@Kyeh@pakopako I have two!!! They are giant and from a few different companies I worked for in the past. I wont get rid of them because you never know when you will need a contact. They have come in handy a few times.
@Kyeh oh I forgot one. This guy was in my back yard, terrified. Mom and dad mockingbird were flying around squaking while Charlie and Buddy were out doing their business. Charlie saw the baby before I did. He was scared and confused. Lol
Got him and bud inside
Fast forward the next morning I found a baby mockingbird in my garage (I wonder if it was the same one) was on my stairs leading into the house squawking when I woke up. Again Charlie found him first! After I got Charlie outside I scooped it up and took it out. Mom and dad were flying around making noise looking for it. I put him in a flower bed on the other side of the fence and walked away. Mom and dad were with him quickly. Hopefully it was ok being in my garage all night!?!?!
@Kyeh@tinamarie1974 Birds supposedly can’t taste pepper and the squirrels won’t eat it. They eat a lot of suet during baby bird season. I like squirrels but my hound-mix dog has an insane prey drive and can’t stand them, I’m afraid she’ll break out a window. Yesterday we had a fight over a box turtle she found in the yard. (I won, the turtle crawled off.)
@Kyeh@tinamarie1974 I’ve gotten some pretty big ones from the farmers market and they’re usually quite yummy and sweet. That is because that one but probably the size of a mandarin orange is not uncommon
@Cerridwyn@Kyeh welp, today’s pic isn’t great. Woke up to it, the nest was built on top of my security camera and it seems it fell off sometime after 11pm last night and 6 this morning. I very throughly checked my flowerbeds and the yard and found no trace of the babies. Hoping since they were already so big that they survived and maybe learned to fly a few days early
My dearest @Kyeh, I realize that for cat lovers it is difficult to understand and perhaps heartbreaking to know that there are those who are not cat lovers. I must take to heart the words Polonius said to his son in Hamlet, “to thine own self be true,” and reveal that I am one of those people.
@ItalianScallion Oh, I’m well aware that our society is generally much more pro-dog - “dogs are man’s best friend,” “every dog is a good dog,” (yeah, no) and if an article says it’s about “pets” that usually means dogs. Meanwhile cats get labeled as cruel, selfish, cold, evil …
and of course women with cats are “crazy cat ladies.” Can’t we all just get along?
I bought my computer desk in the late 90’s from Walmart. It’s a big corner unit and I know it’s cheap, but I love how it was designed. It just works on so many levels. I’m a function before fashion kind of guy. It’s built out of pressed board and after 25+ years of beverage glasses condensing on it, it developed several pock marks from just normal wear and tear. So, I spray painted it and put down about a 1/4" of epoxy on it. It’s like glass now. It actually took two pours because the first one never fully cured (I’m still learning how to use epoxy) but I love how it looks now.
@Kyeh It’s silicone. It was there to form a barrier for the pour. It’s one of the things epoxy doesn’t adhere to. It was easy to remove once everything cured properly.
@Kyeh Heh… it looks just like that sans silicone You should see my trashcan and recycle bins. I saw a YouTube video about a street artist and I was like, I’m going to try that
Sigh. It’s for work…
three hands no less, good grief, robot
@Thumperchick That’s beautiful! Not one bit of nonsense in that!
@Kyeh Thanks! My sewing machine making me take it apart to do maintainance in the middle of making it made it very nonsensical for me.
@Kyeh @Thumperchick too real
(idk, it just seems like people who sew also do a lot of unsewing)
@jouest @Kyeh It’s true. I spend so much time cutting/prepping, seam ripping, and machine maintaining that actual sewing is only a small part of this hobby.
@jouest @Thumperchick I’m impressed you know how to take your machine apart to fix it, though.
@Kyeh I can do some minor repairs on my own, but I don’t think I could do something like adjust the timing.
In this case, it was the presser foot having uneven pressure due to a loose screw.
@Thumperchick So many little fiddly bits on a machine!

50% offer off two is still available right meow – and yes, it really is that heavy. 32.2 ounces to be exact, actually.
@dave uummmm
@tinamarie1974 I mean, who doesn’t have a photo like this in their recents?
@jouest I mean I have a similar one in my roll somewhere, but no giant head…actually a forklift tine that went through a verticle support pole.
Now if we are talking my work phone, 100%
I knew it. @tinamarie1974–forklift certified
(probably wasn’t the one to crash into the thing, either)
@jouest @tinamarie1974
@pakopako That doesn’t look good.
@jouest @tinamarie1974 I learned to drive a forklift before I learned to drive a car.

@pakopako what is that about. Looks…interesting
@jouest @Kyeh really? How did you learn so young???
@jouest @tinamarie1974 Umm, well- it’s more that I learned to drive a car kind of late!
I drove the forklift at Celestial Seasonings while I was taking a couple of years off from college. It was still a crazy hippie place back then, it hadn’t been sold to Kraft yet.
@tinamarie1974 @kyeh
Your guesses are as good as mine
@pakopako @tinamarie1974 But it’s in your “camera roll?”
@Kyeh @tinamarie1974
Passed by it in the street about two months back.
@pakopako @tinamarie1974 Oh! Well, you aced the assignment for random nonsense really well.
@Kyeh @pakopako Im old. I also call contacts my rolodex.
This was from a corner commercial that used to be a bank or a CVS
@pakopako @tinamarie1974
I still HAVE one!

I don’t use it though - you can see it’s all dusty. I pulled it out to see if I could find the number for a plumber we’d used a while back.
@Kyeh @pakopako I have two!!! They are giant and from a few different companies I worked for in the past. I wont get rid of them because you never know when you will need a contact. They have come in handy a few times.
@Kyeh @pakopako @tinamarie1974 that plumber definitely retired in 2004
@jouest @pakopako @tinamarie1974
Sadly, I think you’re right!
@dave Is that Ken Jennings’ head?
@sammydog01 It is!
@dave @sammydog01 impressive
I saw lots of critters yesterday!!
@tinamarie1974 Are those birds on your house right now?!
@Kyeh yes!!! Those are babies, actually four in total. Barn swallows. They are right outside my office window so I get to watch them all day
@tinamarie1974 How marvelous! I bet they eat a bunch of pesky insects, too!
@Kyeh oh I forgot one. This guy was in my back yard, terrified. Mom and dad mockingbird were flying around squaking while Charlie and Buddy were out doing their business. Charlie saw the baby before I did. He was scared and confused. Lol

@tinamarie1974 Awww, just fledgling?
@Kyeh @tinamarie1974 I got one of those bird feeders with a camera.

@Kyeh @sammydog01 that is awesome
HIKING! VIKINGS! STRIKE KING [BRAND FISHING LURES]! AWESOME!
@sammydog01 @tinamarie1974
(What’s the orange stuff?)
So cool!
@Kyeh @tinamarie1974 Hot pepper suet, it discourages the squirrels.
@sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 Oh, that’s so clever! And the birds don’t mind it, I guess?
@Kyeh @tinamarie1974 Birds supposedly can’t taste pepper and the squirrels won’t eat it. They eat a lot of suet during baby bird season. I like squirrels but my hound-mix dog has an insane prey drive and can’t stand them, I’m afraid she’ll break out a window. Yesterday we had a fight over a box turtle she found in the yard. @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 Whew!
One of the strawberries I bought the other day
Some peonies in my yard

@Kyeh peonies are beautiful and that strawberry is HUGE!!!
@Kyeh @tinamarie1974 I don’t think you can call that a strawberry anymore

/giphy dundee knife
@Kyeh hope you didn’t eat it all in one sitting
/giphy giggle

@pakopako @Cerridwyn I DID, and it was GOOD!
@tinamarie1974 Thanks! And yes, it was the size of a plum. Organic though so I figured it was safe.
@Kyeh was it sweet? Being so big I am curious
@Kyeh @tinamarie1974 I’ve gotten some pretty big ones from the farmers market and they’re usually quite yummy and sweet. That is because that one but probably the size of a mandarin orange is not uncommon
@Cerridwyn @tinamarie1974 Yes, it was very good! I was a little surprised because they’re often disappointing.
@Cerridwyn @Kyeh welp, today’s pic isn’t great.
@Cerridwyn @tinamarie1974 Oh, wow - they do look pretty big in your first photo, so maybe they did just all fly away?
@ironcheftoni how’d you get in my house
@ironcheftoni @jouest looks like my bathroom floor.
Car parts; one fits, one doesn’t.
Bonus trivia: The parts are sitting on John Lienhard’s old office chair from back in the early 'oughts.
New leaf on my monstera
Pull saw finishing stair stringer
@sillyheathen impressed
@Doooood
@Doooood
@Doooood
@Doooood @sillyheathen it’s about time the cats arrived, jeeze.
@Doooood @jouest @sillyheathen If someone in a group has a cat, it, photos of it, or a discussion of it always arrives.
@Doooood @ItalianScallion @jouest @sillyheathen

Not my cats. Just curious campground kittens.
Also not my cat (neighbor down the street)

Walks around my house sometimes. Found it taking a nap on the bed.
@Doooood @ItalianScallion @jouest @sillyheathen
You say that like it’s a bad thing …
@Doooood @jouest @Kyeh @sillyheathen Yes. Yes it is.
@Doooood @ItalianScallion @jouest @sillyheathen

Can’t we all just get along?
@ItalianScallion You DO like dogs, don’t you?
@Kyeh Of course! Dogs are great. I’d have one, but I’m too irregular in my schedule and I go to Italy for a month or two every year.
@ItalianScallion Okay. I don’t trust people who don’t like any (other) animals - they probably don’t like our own species that much either.
@ItalianScallion @Kyeh

Can’t we all just get along?
@ItalianScallion @macromeh
Sweet harmony!
@ItalianScallion You DID see @tinamarie1974’s beautiful pup above, didn’t you?
@Kyeh @tinamarie1974 Of course! Sooooo cute!
@ItalianScallion @tinamarie1974
The handsomest.
Oh No, Mr. Bill!

@pmarin A mascot for these times.
@pmarin is this the boro of the Hills? Closer to the plains of the north?

@capnjb That’s a great idea. Is that caulk on it, though?
@Kyeh It’s silicone. It was there to form a barrier for the pour. It’s one of the things epoxy doesn’t adhere to. It was easy to remove once everything cured properly.
@capnjb Oh, okay. I’d love to see it in finished form.
@Kyeh Heh… it looks just like that sans silicone
You should see my trashcan and recycle bins. I saw a YouTube video about a street artist and I was like, I’m going to try that
edit - I’m good at making my wife roll her eyes
@capnjb @Kyeh those are out of this world! You have the wars in the stars on your curb for bin night. That’s proper ace that is!
@capnjb @sillyheathen Has he given you ideas?
Also, I’ve given up trying to help my daughter with her math homework

Calling @phendrick for backup
@capnjb And to think that there was a time I could do this… well, it was 50 years ago…
@capnjb a girl after my own little math brain heart!
@Sneakertree ooh the dog though
@Sneakertree is it terrible that I want this to be Jack and zero?
@sillyheathen oooh i should leave a note and little red nose for him!
@sillyheathen @Sneakertree You know Home Despot made one …
I saw this a few blocks from my house.
@Kyeh @Sneakertree I’ve been trying to convince the Englishman that I need one.
maybe he can just be the mascot of the new less murdery shed.
@sillyheathen @Sneakertree That sounds perfect - a skeleton, but in formal attire. Murdery, but civilized.
@Kyeh Home “Despot” was intentional?
@pakopako Oh yes; got it from a friend who worked there for a while.
I think this is pretty random (2 quarts)
Yes, I bought that. It might end up being nonsensical too as Mar 04 26 approaches.
@Kyeh Did it come with a tote bag?
@mossygreen Yes. The deal was a tote bag and squeeze bottle, and I added the 2 quart jar. Aspirational mayo buying.
@Kyeh that branding will last 100 years
@jouest I got curious and googled, and guess what!
@Kyeh well damn
Mine don’t look quite as pretty
@Cerridwyn ??? They look pretty to me! Farmer’s Market?
@Kyeh yep. That they were
@Cerridwyn Yum. Elixer of youth, evidently!
@Kyeh don’t I wish.
@Cerridwyn That is a big pile of yum!
@capnjb
Dave’s killer bread
Mascapone
Berries
@Cerridwyn That is a bigger pile of yum!
