As we near trick-or-treating time, let’s dig in to the best candy boxes out there. Got any favorite brands, logos, or mascots (whether they’re still around or only live on in your memories)?
I can no longer afford either the product or the sugar load, but Russell Stover has one pound boxes of their dark chocolate covered orange and raspberry creams.
Mine was ‘butterscotch’ from See’s.
I ate a half pound box when I was like 8 months pregnant and that took care of the desire to ever overload on it, but if I loose the battle to temptation and walk in the door of one, those are what I can’t resist still to this day.
That being said, not all dark chocolate is super bitter. I had some at a trade show once that was not bitter at all. It was processed different, but I don’t remember the details, just that it was yummy.
Ghirardelli used to make what they called ‘Barista Chips’ (they might still, I dunno) which were a part of their specialty line not sold to the general public. They were 100% no milk and used with a steam wand to make hot chocolate or coffee mocha’s and damnation it was the best hot chocolate I have ever had. I know, not candy, but… made me think of them.
There are 2 that I miss, the milk chocolate Dutch Girl Shoes that we had at the movies and then from the 70’s Oompaloompas - better than Reeses Pieces.
Whatchamacallits back when they had more chocolate.

I used to love nestle choco-lite’s. They had bubbles in them. In Canada and the UK they are called Areo bars

As a kid, I remember getting bored boxes of Nibs
Now they are bags of Twizzlers
They had the camels, and were “oriental licorice”
Now just candy bites. No mysticisms
