Escaped Goat! (September 2025 Scapegoat Blame Thread)
9Maybe there wasn’t an escape, but you can’t prove that.
Another month, another goat. Not that @Luna_Doggo did poorly. To the contrary, it was probably the best goat performance by a dog to date, but that’s August, and this is September. In a landslide election performance, @Roadie will be rockin’ the blame for all of your finger-pointing needs.
Enjoy the fall kick-off.

Congrats, @Roadie! May you receive the best IRK ever for your kind deed getting the wheel hub to its rightful owner and may you not be the recipient of misdirected IRKs!
Hey now, no disrespect at all to @Luna_doggo, but @Charliedoggo was a pretty stellar goat too!
you’re an all-star
@Kyeh I think you are all forgetting Walter as the best non-human goat of all time. He was the only goat so far (human or non-human) to have office hours.

@Felton10 @tinamarie1974
Walter was definitely the best bird goat ever, but I won’t cast votes for the G.O.A.T. of goats, nope.
It’s not a popularity contest!
@Felton10 @Kyeh @tinamarie1974 And lets not forget the humans, all of whom had been already goated themselves, who supported their non-human companions in their season of goat!
@Felton10 @Kidsandliz @Kyeh @tinamarie1974 Goats are in season? For hunting or procreating?
@Felton10 @Kyeh @phendrick @tinamarie1974
For head butting you. And eating your blueberry bushes.
Oh thank you frien @Kyeh! Woof!! I tried hard to be xtra good boi goat, but could not learn to make goat sound! Good boi’s get treats! Maybe pb or crunchy frogs!!!
It was fun to steal moms phone to talk to all my friens!!

@CharlieDoggo We haven’t seen your handsome self for a while! Are you all healthy these days?
Woof! Hi @Kyeh!!! How is my frien?
I am so good, I spend a lot of time keeping track of mom and Uncle Bud, they need me to watch them. And mom has been spending time outside so I get to roll around in the warm grass and chase bunnies, squirrels and scare away the deer. I dont like any of them near my grass!
I have been really healthy this year. Mom said my new food made a difference. But I also heard her say I am getting chonky, I dont know what that means, but I think it is good. Maybe it means more treats!!
@CharlieDoggo
I’m glad you’re doing well. Make sure you run around and get lots of exercise, that’s a good way to get more treats! And show us a picture sometime, okay?

@Kyeh oh hi Kyeh!! How is my frien?
I am good and I like to make mom chaz me round the yard. Such fun! Also have giant ballz, taller than me that I push around and jump on!
I go to see doktor on fryday. Mom said for shots, maybe she will say I am handsome and get more pb!!
Woof!
@CharlieDoggo I bet she will, she’s a very nice mom. I hope the doctor visit goes well!
I’d love to see you chase the giant balls.
@Roadie, welcome to a month of all the tomfoolery and shenanigans that go on in the silly blame thread! I hope it’s not too onerous. And I hope you get some very cool, Trakr-free Irks too.
️
️
Yes… Welcome future inverse goat. It’s a smallish, but prestigious, group!
@chienfou one of those statements is true
@pakopako
No… I definitely meant to welcome him…
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well let blame @Roadie! for the Weird weather so Far! Too Chilly for this time of year!
@mycya4me

/giphy You must not be from around here
@mycya4me I give up. 7 giphy fails in a row.
The others were even more off topic.
@phendrick HAHAHAHAHA
@phendrick ROTFLMAO!
Go ahead. Blame me for everything. I probably did cause it in one way or another.
@Roadie Hmm… Well… Let me count the ways.
This module should be 6 volts nominal:

Apparently battery cells don’t like it when they’re sitting in an inch of water inside a hybrid’s high voltage battery pack.
The good news is that I wasn’t buying it for the cells anyway. Also I’m still going to try and see if they’re salvageable!
@narfcake yep. that’s certainly my fault. Sorry.
@Roadie But I wasn’t blaming you!
I bought the pack for parts, in which the fans I needed were fine, so everything else is considered a bonus.
UNBLAME: I have achieved a status that I had never contemplated. Wife. And due to the peculiarities of Texas’ antiquated attitudes, we were able to back-date it to August 5, 2025, the five-and-a-half-year anniversary of when we got together. This will make the date easier to remember.
I suddenly find myself with a bunch of new relatives…
@werehatrack congrats!
@Kidsandliz @werehatrack
Just celebrated our 48th year. I hope you’re as lucky.
@werehatrack Belated congratulations
Wishing both of you much happiness

BLAME - the bank says it is no longer legal tender and won’t replace it.
The responsible party will be 4 next month.
@Kidsandliz Responsible party doesn’t look remorseful at all.
You can submit it to the BEP:
https://www.bep.gov/services/mutilated-currency-redemption
@Kyeh Thanks. Two banks refused to swap it out and told me I couldn’t as the serial number wasn’t fully present on both sides of this.
Responsible party though was human. In the photo is just a nosy cat who has to be in all my business and be within 5 feet of me at all times. I included her in the photo, because, well, cats. Right?
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh
Given that the bill seems to be over 75% complete you may have some luck paying with it at a store. Once they put it in their deposit the bank would generally pull it as unfit currency and handle the exchange with the BEP. When I ran a retail business our general policy was one complete serial number and signicantly more than half the bill. Never had my bank refuse to take one in my deposit.
Good luck.
Option two: have ‘responsible party’ personally make the exchange with you for a different bill. Then it’s their problem.
@chienfou @Kyeh The “responsible party” is only going to be 4 in October. Not old enough to drive a car yet to deal with it, not to mention does not have money.
@chienfou @Kidsandliz
The photo certainly suggested that the cat did it - as they sometimes do!
@chienfou @Kyeh That is true. I only included her in the photo because, well, cats. Mine like to shred paper but it is usually with their claws and not their teeth.
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh
evidently she had $20 at one time!!!
@chienfou @Kyeh Yes well she doesn’t know how to hang on to money so now she has nothing. Her 11 year old brother, however, is a real mercenary and usually (and has for years) preferred money rather than presents as gifts.
BLAME -

Only for the fact that I can’t resist using WAY TOO MANY words! 🫣
UNBLAME -

They’re both VERY quick and easy jobs that I’d do myself in about 30 minutes or less IF I was able to get on a ladder!
That being said, the handyman I hired two replace the old smoke detectors two years ago didn’t hook them up correctly and they didn’t talk to each other like they’re supposed to. And like he told me they did!
Needless to say I wasn’t hiring him again!

The fire marshal is coming for our new yearly inspection. Until two years ago condos weren’t included in this law that requires apartments to be inspected. I’m not mad about it, It’s a good thing!
So I needed a electrician or a handyman willing and able/knowledgeable to do some electrical work. IF you’d even call it that.
Besides replacing a defective smoke detector on the ceiling I needed to replace an emergency light in my fire exit/back stairwell. They’re both hardwired and shouldn’t take more than the hour that they charge you just for walking through the front door!
Well first of all it’s like pulling teeth to get some of these people to call you back and then when they do they are wanting to charge you a arm and a leg! The highest estimate was $450. I just about choked when I heard it!
And that particular guy was already going to be in the building doing work for my neighbor across the hall, literally six feet away!
How ridiculous is THAT?! Well obviously I said NO THANKS and continued searching. Some estimates were $250 to $350, or this one was good… it was $200 for a service call (which meant walking through the door) and then $125 for any part of each additional hour but that it would take them TWO HOURS to do my job. I was almost speechless, almost… I had to laughingly and with much sarcasm ask one woman, “when do they start their clock, when they roll out of bed…?”

After the first hour he charges $25 for every 15 minutes but didn’t expect he’d go over a hour. This guy Jeremy was amazing! He not only did what I had planned on but found another fire detector in the stairwell that needed to be replaced. Luckily I bought a extra one just in case but figured I’d be returning it. And he did everything in under 40 minutes! I’ve now got a new electrician and I’m a happy camper!

Ten minutes later, while I was taking a break from these ridiculous people, my phone rings and it’s an electrician. This guy Jeremy was from Angie’s List which I had contacted about 3 weeks ago. The timing of his unexpected call was perfect because I was just talking myself into being okay with paying $250 for the peace of mind in having it done! His estimate was $125 and he could come the next day.
Of course I’ll be referring him to anyone and everyone!
SO GLAD I held out!
@Lynnerizer Wow, that’s super lucky! Congratulations - I have that same problem finding someone to do small handiman things, they all seem to think they should get about 5 times as much as I’ve ever made working.
@Kyeh
Thanks! It IS nice to know that there are people still out there that don’t need to rake you over the coals!
@Lynnerizer Yes, truly!
UNBLAME to the max. BIG TIME!!!
28 years ago an unknown couple had their 50th wedding anniversary. Their church made them a quilt (yet to be finished) with 120 squares where people wrote very loving messages to the couple - they must have been an incredibly nice couple (alternating with more squares that are just a pattern). Someone started the quilt and all that’s left to do is the side seams and then the quilting (top and bottom are done, batting is pinned in.
The husband tossed everything belonging to the person who was turning this into a quilt her including her jewelry. A non-profit group I was helping move offered me the junk they were going to throw out. I took it.
I spent around 7 hours googling names, Most were dead as they had been born in the 1910’s through 1920’s. That’s when I figured out a church did this and finally which one from the obituaries of where they were having their funerals (if not a funeral home).
Talked to the minister today and brought him the quilt. He knows the families of many of the people who made the squares, some are still alive and he is confident he can find out whose anniversary was being celebrated so that he can then locate their children or grandchildren to give the quilt to.
Further he is confident that the quilt guild at his church will finish it (I was going to beg a quilting guild I know to finish it and now I don’t have to.). I suggested that the big center square be removed and replaced with a heart with the couple’s name and say 50th anniversary of their 6/2/47 wedding (found the date on one square and the couple’s first names on another and now I am sure the last name will be known).
I am positive this is something that the family will value although it is a shame that the couple this was intended for likely never saw it. I am so glad I took it and spent the time to try to figure out if there was anyone left alive I could ask who this was made for so I could try to locate the family to give it to them. And I am glad the local church will finish the process (and the quilt).
@Kidsandliz
@Kidsandliz That’s lovely! It would be nice if the relatives contact you when they get it.
@Kyeh I am hoping they do and the minister has my contact information. He said he’d let me know when they figured out who the couple was and thus their descendants. But the important thing is that this gets to the family so they can see all the lovely things written about this couple on the quilt.
@Kidsandliz Yes, for sure!
@Kidsandliz Wow. That is amazing to see, that you were able to undo someone else’s thoughtlessness to the extent that’s still possible, and rescue a labor of love that was unfinished and will now be able to be appreciated. I’d be willing to bet that you’ll end up inadvertently (re)connecting people who didn’t know that they had anything in common. Good job!
BLAME!!
How could you let that person smoke inside the Tampa Theatre tonight while we were watching Pulp Fiction?! Fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate until the fire department gave the all clear.
Unblame
Well at least I got a free ticket out of the experience.
@yakkoTDI It’s Florida. Stupidity abounds in that state. And unfortunately that is where I live and am too old to consider moving. The lack of cold weather is a deal breaker for me.
@Felton10 @yakkoTDI
@chienfou @yakkoTDI Inconceivable.
@yakkoTDI
How many people were in the theater?

) to just politely ask said smoker to extinguish his darn cigarette!

WOW!
It’s a real shame that we live in a world today that nobody felt safe enough (probably for risk of them pulling out a gun and being blown away
It’s not like it isn’t illegal to be smoking in a movie theater in the first place or that they didn’t know it…
I think I might have insisted on a few free movies!
@Lynnerizer It wasn’t so much a case of confronting the smoker as they had went out of their way to hide it. Once it set off the alarm nothing could be done but evacuate.
They did give out free tickets to everyone but as Tampa Theatre is a historic non profit I felt bad taking the ticket and just gave it to a friend.
Take a virtual tour of the historic Tampa Theatre built in 1926.
https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=Da2J7KGDwY4
@yakkoTDI
Wow, that theater is gorgeous!
How could anyone even think about disrespecting a place like that.
Built in 1926, what a shame if there was a fire…
Now that I know it’s a nonprofit I totally understand not taking the ticket for yourself. I’m betting some would even turn around and make a donation!
@Lynnerizer @yakkoTDI Oh, that theater really is magnificent! A real treasure! The website to view is very cool, too.
I haz the blames you goat!
Mom took me to the doktor today. She stole some blood, put yucky liquid in my mouth and gave me shots! She also poked around and listened to my insides! What. If. I. Had. To. FART. SO RUDE
She did give a krunchy treat with cheez on top. I did like it!!
Then I came home and felt not good and tired. Mom had to cover me up to take nap!
MOOOOMMMMMM put up that picture of me!
Woof!!! Also, dogs>cats I herd someone asked!
@CharlieDoggo here you go, so dramatic
@CharlieDoggo @tinamarie1974 Aww, poor baby! I can relate a bit, I got my flu shot yesterday and I’ve been pretty lethargic today. I hope you’re back to your normal self soon!
@CharlieDoggo @Kyeh he already is back to normal!! He had a good check up, doc said he was in great shape and no concern about his weight!
Sorry you had a tough time w your flu shot! Hopefully symptoms are not too bad.
@CharlieDoggo @tinamarie1974 Oh, good!
I know you were a bit worried about his weight.
And thanks, I’m sure I’ll be back to normal tomorrow.
@CharlieDoggo @tinamarie1974
Oh Nooo, I’m sorry to hear that you weren’t feeling well after your appointment CharlieDoggo!
But, no matter that some may think you’re being dramatic, I have to say that I think THAT is one of the cutest doggo pics I’ve ever seen!

Glad you’re feeling better! Now go be a drama king and chase those squirrels until they’re absolutely nuts!
Happy days, happy days…

I ran across this while searching for something else, and it’s been a while since I tossed it in.
To the tune of “All things bright and beautiful”
All things disappointing
All ships that will not float
All things quite annoying
The one to blame’s the Goat.
Each little subtle insult
Each thing that leaves you pissed
The Goat must be behind them
The Goat exists for this.
That decomposing cabbage
In fridge behind the beer
Whose smell is in the cheesecake
You know the Goat was here.
The unexpected visit
From folks you can’t abide
They’ll be here for a whole week
The Goat gave them the ride.
But still we must remember
That not all winds blow ill
Sometimes the goat brings fortune, too
Sometimes, the goat is chill.
Oy vey.
Blame: I have a standing dead alder tree on my (rural) property - it has been dead for a while and I have been mulling over having it taken down since it is next to the public road and potentially could hit the overhead power line across the street.
).
So Sunday afternoon I was clearing the brush and blackberry vines next to the dead tree in preparation for calling the electric utility to see if they would remove it for me.
Long story short - I (just barely) bumped the dead tree with the tractor bucket as I was clearing the surrounding brush and the damned thing fell over (of course, right across the road
Fortunately, there were no vehicles on the road and the top of the fallen tree was (just) short of hitting the power line.
So I scrambled to remove the debris from the road - conveniently, the rotten tree broke into manageable chunks when it hit the pavement.
Disaster (narrowly) averted, but there were some pretty tense moments. The joys of rural life…
@macromeh
Thankfully the top didn’t fall out in your direction when you bumped it!
@chienfou Yes - all things considered, short of not happening in the first place, it turned out as good as it possibly could. Somebody was watching over me.
Post-Thon Bump
Unblame!
After decades of zero competition for Cox here in San Diego’s East County (that’s what we had when my dad retired here in 1971 and have had ever since), a new company is coming to town. Wyyerd Fiber. They’re currently laying lines and should be in my neighborhood by the end of October. $95 for no data cap and 1GB speed.
With Cox, I was paying $120 for 1GB and 1780GB data cap.
Last January, Cox bumped up the cost of our cable subscription by about $50. After four hours in their extremely sucky CSR chat, getting bounced from rep to rep (the only way I knew this was I had to repeat my customer information), I cancelled the cable service. Went to a streaming service that had the channels we watched most.
So, having read on Reddit about Cox and competition and price matching, I started a chat (stupid on my part) and was on for less than five minutes and figured “fuck this”, fully aware of how I was wasting my time.
Got a short survey “how was your experience” and I was pretty blunt (still salty from January). Called their chat CSRs liars (which, from what I’ve read of Cox complaints, is common). Imagine my surprise when I got a phone call from Cox Loyalty. And he was super nice, super polite, super helpful. I now have unlimited data and a $90 a month bill.
It’s sad that it came to this. If it hadn’t been for competition, I’m sure this would have not been possible.
But thanks, goat.
BLAME - the phone just did that blaring alert sound. Turns out 911 is down for the entire state and they are, so they say, “working to get it fixed”. No time estimate. Just what someone needs to do in an emergency - google the alternative, non-emergency number to call. There are good reasons why this state is the arm pit of the nation. This is one of them
@Kidsandliz I’ve gone as far as to call it the leg pit of the nation.
@Kidsandliz @werehatrack
Seems this was due to a fiber optic line getting cut.
And by the way it also affected Louisiana.
The one in Pennsylvania a few months back was an IT issue.
@chienfou @Kidsandliz @werehatrack
You mean crotch?
@Kidsandliz @tinamarie1974 But not the fun bits.
@chienfou @Kidsandliz @tinamarie1974 @werehatrack “taint”
@Kidsandliz @tinamarie1974 @werehatrack .
They’re all fun bits to somebody…
Oh Goat, I haz more blame! That doktor shotz got me sick, more than mom thought! Mom said I squirt from both ends for days! Had to go back to see doktor. She put WATER under my SKIN!!! Crazy, then I pee and pee!! So much pee. She gave me shot again! But it did make my tummy feel better so I could eat again
Mom is making my special rice with chiken. This is good, but she sneaks more and more kibble in every day. Thinks I don’t see! I haz eyes!
I did go get a bath yesterday! And my bath hooman gave me blue skarf when he gave me back to mom. He is nice to me
It makes me look really handsome. I have mom post a pic!

@CharlieDoggo Oh no. I hope you are back to normal soon. Maybe some peanut butter treats will help.
@CharlieDoggo Poor Charlie!
You’ve had a tough time! And your poor Mom too.
@yakkoTDI @kyeh. Hi friens!! Oh thank you and I hope my mom c’s I should have more pb treats! She told me I kant have them for a while. She gave me animal krakers, so glad they dont make dogs into krakers!
I feel really good the last few days and have been running around to drive her crazy!

@CharlieDoggo @Kyeh @yakkoTDI he is fine now but it was a gross couple of days. He is currently sun bathing/rolling around in the grass. Has to work hard to get rid of that nice clean smell.
@CharlieDoggo @tinamarie1974 @yakkoTDI Look at that fluffy white fur! I’d love to run my fingers through it, it looks so soft!
@CharlieDoggo @Kyeh @yakkoTDI so much fur but Uncle Buds is the softest!
@CharlieDoggo @tinamarie1974 @yakkoTDI Oh, I wouldn’t have guessed that!
BLAME! I tried one of the not-great gummies that came in my Irk, and suddenly felt a large gritty thing in my mouth, and it was a broken-off tooth with a gold crown on it!
The tooth has obviously been going bad around the top edge of the crown, but wasn’t seen on x-rays, I guess, because of the crown.
So it’s not painful, but I have to wait through the weekend with this jagged hole where my tooth was. Luckily it’s all the way in back.
But oh man - another big expense, after all the dental stuff in the spring. CURSES!
@Kyeh oh no, that is terrible!!! Happy to hear it is not painful, but so sorry about the hassle and expense
@tinamarie1974
Yes, thanks. I think it’s a tooth that had a root canal a while back, so now it probably just has to come out altogether. Grrrrr.
@Kyeh

@Kyeh My sympathies and best wishes.
). The dentist tried to re-glue it (twice), but no luck. So I had to have a new crown made/installed $$. (So far so good.
)
I had a similar experience about a year ago - a crown (on the last lower molar) that had been fine for 30+ years just came off while I was eating (chew, chew, CRUNCH
@Kyeh @tinamarie1974
Sorry that happened to you. Glad you didn’t swallow the tooth though. Maybe you can get the dentist to get the gold off and then sell the gold to pay for the implant? Gold is really up there per oz.
I had one with a root canal when I was about 20, and the root was finally being absorbed a number of years later (this is something that happens to some people with root canals). Had an implant put in. Expensive but worth it. It’s going strong 15 years later. If you are going to do that don’t wait too long though as the bone may then need a bone graft as it needs the pressure of using your teeth to keep the bone strong and not degrade.
@Kidsandliz @tinamarie1974 @macromeh
so I think I’ll just keep that crown.
I think I might need to get an implant there because all that’s left of the tooth is this jagged piece on the inner side that keeps grating against my tongue (owww!!) I have a couple of others and as you said, they’re great. I once asked about the gold and my dentist said they don’t give it back in any way
@Kidsandliz @macromeh @tinamarie1974 Thanks for the sympathy &good wishes. 🫶
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @tinamarie1974
Yes, that happened to me, too. When the dentist couldn’t get my old crown to stay put, I had ~a week with no crown and, as you say, the rough edges of the remaining tooth tearing up my tongue and inner cheek. It was pretty painful to chew anything by the time (a week later) when I could get in to get prepped for the replacement crown and have a temporary put in place. (owww!! indeed!
)
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @macromeh @tinamarie1974
Last December I pulled a crown the night before I was supposed to leave for 3 weeks in the caribbean. I took it with me with the intention of maybe finding a dentist on one of the islands that would glue it back in place but then never got around to it…figured it was a loss.
When I got back to town I checked with my dentist and he said he would try to glue it back on. It’s been there ever since! Damn I was lucky.
As for gold and crowns, apparently there are some companies that will process them back and give you the cash.
@chienfou @Kidsandliz @Kyeh @tinamarie1974 I kept my old gold crown (let’s see - it’s here somewhere
), but it doesn’t seem like it would be worth it to try to send it somewhere.
Hmm, a local dealer is saying US$58/gram for dental gold…
@Kidsandliz @tinamarie1974
I did buy some wax used for braces so that’s helping a bit, but it’s tricky getting it stay on this narrow little piece of tooth.
@macromeh–Oh, no! I’m really hoping my dental office will see me tomorrow!
You WERE lucky, @chienfou!
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @macromeh @tinamarie1974
Lucky for you tomorrow is Monday. My wife is scheduled to pick up a crown this week, and OUR dentist is only open full days on Monday through Wednesday and a half day on Thursdays! Evidently I picked the wrong career
@chienfou @Kidsandliz @macromeh @tinamarie1974 Geez. My dental office actually has 5 dentists so if my usual one is off I can be seen by one of the others.
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @macromeh @tinamarie1974
Nice! Good luck today…
@chienfou @Kidsandliz @Kyeh @tinamarie1974 Yeah, our dentist is only in the office Mon-Thu also.
OTOH, apparently dentists are said to have a high rate of suicide, so…
(I guess I can’t throw too much shade - I only worked M-Th for the last 21 years of my SW career.
)
@chienfou @Kidsandliz @macromeh @tinamarie1974 Thanks - I was able to get an appointment for 4:20 this afternoon; a dentist I haven’t seen before but that’s fine.
@chienfou @Kidsandliz @macromeh @tinamarie1974 Well, I saw the dentist and sure enough, she said the tooth has to come out and I have to go to a different office for that. But she was able to grind down that sharp edge on the little remaining spike, so that’s much better. I did get some dental wax yesterday, the kind used on braces, so that helped some. Anyhow, that’s my ongoing sad tooth saga.
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @macromeh @tinamarie1974
bummer about the pending extraction. Glad they could do something for comfort meanwhile. When’s the next step? Hopefully it will be soon… but I feel pretty certain it will fall on a new goat…
@chienfou @Kidsandliz @macromeh @tinamarie1974 Yes, I’m sure it will be on the next goat. But I hope this week, at least!
