Escaped Goat! (September 2025 Scapegoat Blame Thread)
9Maybe there wasn’t an escape, but you can’t prove that.
Another month, another goat. Not that @Luna_Doggo did poorly. To the contrary, it was probably the best goat performance by a dog to date, but that’s August, and this is September. In a landslide election performance, @Roadie will be rockin’ the blame for all of your finger-pointing needs.
Enjoy the fall kick-off.

Congrats, @Roadie! May you receive the best IRK ever for your kind deed getting the wheel hub to its rightful owner and may you not be the recipient of misdirected IRKs!
Hey now, no disrespect at all to @Luna_doggo, but @Charliedoggo was a pretty stellar goat too!
you’re an all-star
@Kyeh I think you are all forgetting Walter as the best non-human goat of all time. He was the only goat so far (human or non-human) to have office hours.

@Felton10 @tinamarie1974
Walter was definitely the best bird goat ever, but I won’t cast votes for the G.O.A.T. of goats, nope.
It’s not a popularity contest!
@Felton10 @Kyeh @tinamarie1974 And lets not forget the humans, all of whom had been already goated themselves, who supported their non-human companions in their season of goat!
@Felton10 @Kidsandliz @Kyeh @tinamarie1974 Goats are in season? For hunting or procreating?
@Felton10 @Kyeh @phendrick @tinamarie1974
For head butting you. And eating your blueberry bushes.
Oh thank you frien @Kyeh! Woof!! I tried hard to be xtra good boi goat, but could not learn to make goat sound! Good boi’s get treats! Maybe pb or crunchy frogs!!!
It was fun to steal moms phone to talk to all my friens!!

@CharlieDoggo We haven’t seen your handsome self for a while! Are you all healthy these days?
Woof! Hi @Kyeh!!! How is my frien?
I am so good, I spend a lot of time keeping track of mom and Uncle Bud, they need me to watch them. And mom has been spending time outside so I get to roll around in the warm grass and chase bunnies, squirrels and scare away the deer. I dont like any of them near my grass!
I have been really healthy this year. Mom said my new food made a difference. But I also heard her say I am getting chonky, I dont know what that means, but I think it is good. Maybe it means more treats!!
@CharlieDoggo
I’m glad you’re doing well. Make sure you run around and get lots of exercise, that’s a good way to get more treats! And show us a picture sometime, okay?

@Roadie, welcome to a month of all the tomfoolery and shenanigans that go on in the silly blame thread! I hope it’s not too onerous. And I hope you get some very cool, Trakr-free Irks too.

Yes… Welcome future inverse goat. It’s a smallish, but prestigious, group!
@chienfou one of those statements is true
@pakopako
No… I definitely meant to welcome him…
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well let blame @Roadie! for the Weird weather so Far! Too Chilly for this time of year!
@mycya4me

/giphy You must not be from around here
@mycya4me I give up. 7 giphy fails in a row.
The others were even more off topic.
@phendrick HAHAHAHAHA
@phendrick ROTFLMAO!
Go ahead. Blame me for everything. I probably did cause it in one way or another.
@Roadie Hmm… Well… Let me count the ways.
This module should be 6 volts nominal:

Apparently battery cells don’t like it when they’re sitting in an inch of water inside a hybrid’s high voltage battery pack.
The good news is that I wasn’t buying it for the cells anyway. Also I’m still going to try and see if they’re salvageable!
@narfcake yep. that’s certainly my fault. Sorry.
@Roadie But I wasn’t blaming you!
I bought the pack for parts, in which the fans I needed were fine, so everything else is considered a bonus.
UNBLAME: I have achieved a status that I had never contemplated. Wife. And due to the peculiarities of Texas’ antiquated attitudes, we were able to back-date it to August 5, 2025, the five-and-a-half-year anniversary of when we got together. This will make the date easier to remember.
I suddenly find myself with a bunch of new relatives…
@werehatrack congrats!
@Kidsandliz @werehatrack
Just celebrated our 48th year. I hope you’re as lucky.
BLAME - the bank says it is no longer legal tender and won’t replace it.
The responsible party will be 4 next month.
@Kidsandliz Responsible party doesn’t look remorseful at all.
You can submit it to the BEP:
https://www.bep.gov/services/mutilated-currency-redemption
@Kyeh Thanks. Two banks refused to swap it out and told me I couldn’t as the serial number wasn’t fully present on both sides of this.
Responsible party though was human. In the photo is just a nosy cat who has to be in all my business and be within 5 feet of me at all times. I included her in the photo, because, well, cats. Right?
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh
Given that the bill seems to be over 75% complete you may have some luck paying with it at a store. Once they put it in their deposit the bank would generally pull it as unfit currency and handle the exchange with the BEP. When I ran a retail business our general policy was one complete serial number and signicantly more than half the bill. Never had my bank refuse to take one in my deposit.
Good luck.
Option two: have ‘responsible party’ personally make the exchange with you for a different bill. Then it’s their problem.
@chienfou @Kyeh The “responsible party” is only going to be 4 in October. Not old enough to drive a car yet to deal with it, not to mention does not have money.
@chienfou @Kidsandliz
The photo certainly suggested that the cat did it - as they sometimes do!
@chienfou @Kyeh That is true. I only included her in the photo because, well, cats. Mine like to shred paper but it is usually with their claws and not their teeth.
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh
evidently she had $20 at one time!!!
@chienfou @Kyeh Yes well she doesn’t know how to hang on to money so now she has nothing. Her 11 year old brother, however, is a real mercenary and usually (and has for years) preferred money rather than presents as gifts.
BLAME -

Only for the fact that I can’t resist using WAY TOO MANY words! 🫣
UNBLAME -

They’re both VERY quick and easy jobs that I’d do myself in about 30 minutes or less IF I was able to get on a ladder!
That being said, the handyman I hired two replace the old smoke detectors two years ago didn’t hook them up correctly and they didn’t talk to each other like they’re supposed to. And like he told me they did!
Needless to say I wasn’t hiring him again!

The fire marshal is coming for our new yearly inspection. Until two years ago condos weren’t included in this law that requires apartments to be inspected. I’m not mad about it, It’s a good thing!
So I needed a electrician or a handyman willing and able/knowledgeable to do some electrical work. IF you’d even call it that.
Besides replacing a defective smoke detector on the ceiling I needed to replace an emergency light in my fire exit/back stairwell. They’re both hardwired and shouldn’t take more than the hour that they charge you just for walking through the front door!
Well first of all it’s like pulling teeth to get some of these people to call you back and then when they do they are wanting to charge you a arm and a leg! The highest estimate was $450. I just about choked when I heard it!
And that particular guy was already going to be in the building doing work for my neighbor across the hall, literally six feet away!
How ridiculous is THAT?! Well obviously I said NO THANKS and continued searching. Some estimates were $250 to $350, or this one was good… it was $200 for a service call (which meant walking through the door) and then $125 for any part of each additional hour but that it would take them TWO HOURS to do my job. I was almost speechless, almost… I had to laughingly and with much sarcasm ask one woman, “when do they start their clock, when they roll out of bed…?”

After the first hour he charges $25 for every 15 minutes but didn’t expect he’d go over a hour. This guy Jeremy was amazing! He not only did what I had planned on but found another fire detector in the stairwell that needed to be replaced. Luckily I bought a extra one just in case but figured I’d be returning it. And he did everything in under 40 minutes! I’ve now got a new electrician and I’m a happy camper!

Ten minutes later, while I was taking a break from these ridiculous people, my phone rings and it’s an electrician. This guy Jeremy was from Angie’s List which I had contacted about 3 weeks ago. The timing of his unexpected call was perfect because I was just talking myself into being okay with paying $250 for the peace of mind in having it done! His estimate was $125 and he could come the next day.
Of course I’ll be referring him to anyone and everyone!
SO GLAD I held out!
@Lynnerizer Wow, that’s super lucky! Congratulations - I have that same problem finding someone to do small handiman things, they all seem to think they should get about 5 times as much as I’ve ever made working.
@Kyeh
Thanks! It IS nice to know that there are people still out there that don’t need to rake you over the coals!
@Lynnerizer Yes, truly!
UNBLAME to the max. BIG TIME!!!
28 years ago an unknown couple had their 50th wedding anniversary. Their church made them a quilt (yet to be finished) with 120 squares where people wrote very loving messages to the couple - they must have been an incredibly nice couple (alternating with more squares that are just a pattern). Someone started the quilt and all that’s left to do is the side seams and then the quilting (top and bottom are done, batting is pinned in.
The husband tossed everything belonging to the person who was turning this into a quilt her including her jewelry. A non-profit group I was helping move offered me the junk they were going to throw out. I took it.
I spent around 7 hours googling names, Most were dead as they had been born in the 1910’s through 1920’s. That’s when I figured out a church did this and finally which one from the obituaries of where they were having their funerals (if not a funeral home).
Talked to the minister today and brought him the quilt. He knows the families of many of the people who made the squares, some are still alive and he is confident he can find out whose anniversary was being celebrated so that he can then locate their children or grandchildren to give the quilt to.
Further he is confident that the quilt guild at his church will finish it (I was going to beg a quilting guild I know to finish it and now I don’t have to.). I suggested that the big center square be removed and replaced with a heart with the couple’s name and say 50th anniversary of their 6/2/47 wedding (found the date on one square and the couple’s first names on another and now I am sure the last name will be known).
I am positive this is something that the family will value although it is a shame that the couple this was intended for likely never saw it. I am so glad I took it and spent the time to try to figure out if there was anyone left alive I could ask who this was made for so I could try to locate the family to give it to them. And I am glad the local church will finish the process (and the quilt).
@Kidsandliz
@Kidsandliz That’s lovely! It would be nice if the relatives contact you when they get it.
@Kyeh I am hoping they do and the minister has my contact information. He said he’d let me know when they figured out who the couple was and thus their descendants. But the important thing is that this gets to the family so they can see all the lovely things written about this couple on the quilt.
@Kidsandliz Yes, for sure!
@Kidsandliz Wow. That is amazing to see, that you were able to undo someone else’s thoughtlessness to the extent that’s still possible, and rescue a labor of love that was unfinished and will now be able to be appreciated. I’d be willing to bet that you’ll end up inadvertently (re)connecting people who didn’t know that they had anything in common. Good job!
BLAME!!
How could you let that person smoke inside the Tampa Theatre tonight while we were watching Pulp Fiction?! Fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate until the fire department gave the all clear.
Unblame
Well at least I got a free ticket out of the experience.
@yakkoTDI It’s Florida. Stupidity abounds in that state. And unfortunately that is where I live and am too old to consider moving. The lack of cold weather is a deal breaker for me.
@Felton10 @yakkoTDI
@chienfou @yakkoTDI Inconceivable.
