@heartny
I can vouch for that! I tried running my fingers thru my hair and I immediately said OMG it’s got to be wicked humid outside! And THAT was at 6am with my AC being on 24/7!
@shahnm
Drug my soon to be 70-year-old body to the Whitewater Park in Montgomery yesterday. By the time we did a round of rafting and then an obstacle ropes/zipline course I was drenched in sweat. Thought I was going to cramp up totally on some of the aerial obstacles… Which would have totally sucked!
Hear index was 107…
As for heat or cold I always say I can put on enough clothes to get warm if it’s cold. I can only take off so many before I’m totally naked and still hot in the summer in Alabama. Plus I get strange stares
Yesterday was only 84° after a couple weeks of 97-102°. We also had two thunderstorms. Today we’ll hit 82° and warm up each day until we’re back to upper 90s.
Well outside yesterday it was 100° and HUMID but inside where I’m at my AC runs 24/7 and keeps me at 64°. I couldn’t be more comfy cool unless I was (in an igloo is what my guy would say Lol ) at the beach, and that’s just a whole different vibe! The better one in my opinion…
@sillyheathen Well, if you start in DC we hit 98 today with a RealFeel™ of 110. I’m ready to ford a river in a wagon at this point Heck, I’m ready to ford a fjord! I’ll even accept some dysentery if it’s cold
@capnjb y’all are always welcome to come and stay in the new less murdery shed anytime you’re over on this coast. I’m almost finished with the stairs to the second floor. Then I’ll frame out that, drywall, mud abd lay flooring. It’s starting to feel really real!
@capnjb@luseruser oh they’re only temporary. And if this places floods, there are much bigger problems to worry about. I have red oak coming for the treads and I’m going to make the risers out of a high grade ply which will be sanded and probably paint white or just varnished so there high contrast between the step and the riser.
Today it cooled off (83) after several days of heat index above 100. I didn’t mind it. Was on the lake Sunday and it was so awesome. Next couple days is thunderstorms and then another nice weekend of boat weather.
My rubbing alcohol bottles popped open. The ones under the sink? The caps popped off (the tamper-proof plastic wrap expanded). It’s not even that hot indoors (98°F). It’s much worse outside (115° in the sun, 128° feel).
I heard the noise and then what I thought was skittering (the cap rolling around) and immediately began looking for a giant roach with a crowbar.
Ugh. Maybe I need to pay and get central air installed instead of relying on a window conditioner.
Not that bad yet.
The only saving grace thus far has been the lack of humidity. Once irrigation ramps up it’s over for us.
June gloom
@Cerridwyn you must live in San Diego
@kittykat9180 close but no cigars. Inland Empire
Midnight here is PA and the heat index is still 90!
Is that what you do when it’s hot? I always thought it was to stay warm on cold winter nights.
It’s Junuary here, but my hot flashes can make it warm year round.
5 pm Tuesday, just outside of Boston.

At midnight the heat index was 103, I think.
@ItalianScallion OMG!
@ItalianScallion
Thanks for the info…
Pretty much potato quality image though…
It was super hot last week but rainy and pleasant the past two days. It’s supposed to heat up again by Thursday. Ugh.
@heartny Alpacas are cute!

Knew we would miss those dinosaurs once we suckled them out of the ground to power our huge SUVs.

Yay, it’s hot!
FTFY…
@shahnm
if you find a heat index of 107 with >85% humidity pleasant “you are a better man than me”
@chienfou
I’m not better or worse than any, but I do prefer it hot over cold…

Stop complaining bitches! It will be “springlike” in the Northeast tomorrow and then you’ll be complaining about that too!

It was 28 degrees and snowing the other day so not very hot where I’m at.
@TNWanderer For those of us that are suffering in 100 degree heat, we hate you!
@TNWanderer
How beautiful! Where’d you wander to TNWanderer…?
@Lynnerizer NW Wyoming
@TNWanderer

Whether that’s where you call home or just a place for a little rest and relaxation, it looks peacefully serene, a great place to be!
@Lynnerizer Where i live for now.
I’m usually the one suffering from the heavy plus to create this time of year. It’s been pretty cool lately. I’m expecting the heat anytime
What is going on with that guy’s hands in the picture? He has a pencil in one, another on his head. . . . and a third holding the paper?
@jonfisher7 what guy? Which picture?
@jonfisher7 @kittykat9180 The banner image.
@jonfisher7 @yakkoTDI I see now.
I had to go back and scroll through the home page.
/giphy I’m melting

It’s 63 degrees at the end of the Oregon Trail.

@capnjb

@capnjb @sillyheathen I’d be afraid to have OSB stairs. It disintegrates in a flood.
@sillyheathen
Where do these stairs go?
They go up
@capnjb @luseruser oh they’re only temporary. And if this places floods, there are much bigger problems to worry about.
I have red oak coming for the treads and I’m going to make the risers out of a high grade ply which will be sanded and probably paint white or just varnished so there high contrast between the step and the riser.
@capnjb @luseruser I’ll have a temporary banister too until I have all my tools set up on the ground floor.

EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!

@pakopako
@Kyeh I’ve got two dehumidifiers running (which raises the temperature) and blackout curtains. It’s a dry heat and not a sticky one.
@pakopako Well, it’s always a dry heat here in CO and I still find 98 too damned hot.
@pakopako
Did you grab a crowbar and go looking for a roach, or were you looking for a big roach carrying a crowbar?
@rockblossom little bit of column A, little bit of column B
I’m in Houston. It’s warm, by our standards. “Hot” is what we get in late July and all of August.
Its not the heat its the humidity! I miss the 110° of SoCal where its dry. Compared to NEPA’s 98 wet!
