@phendrick@werehatrack well, what happened was… i was going to really empty it (truck).last Summer. But was too hot. Then Winter, but was too cold. The newer cleaner car-like thing stays mostly clean. I used to have detailers close to me but the place closed after Covid; they semi-retired and now I’d have .to drop off at their house about 15 mi away so have not done that.
@pmarin@werehatrack And, of course, usually too wet in Spring and too windy in Fall (not to mention all the leaves that would blow in being counter-productive).
My car is so bad right now. I was so busy taking care of my dad it got put on the back seat, and depression is not a great motivator to do stuff. Right now it’s either super hot or raining everyday so it will probably be a while before it gets cleaned.
My car has Weather Tech custom fitted floor liners, so I just pop them out when they get dirty and brush (or spray, if really bad) the dirt off. There is a small area around the accelerator pedal that is not completely covered, so I may do a quick spot vacuum there if necessary. No one eats in my car, so the rest is usually pretty clean.
Now my wife’s car - that is a different story…
I gotta say that the Weather Tech floor liners I got for my Fiat 500 were great. They contained all the dirt, snow, water, etc. and like @macromeh said, easy to take out, shake off or clean, and pop back in. I’d get some for my Mini Cooper, but the floor liners it came with are pretty much the same thing.
(I have no connection at all to Weather Tech other than being a customer.)
And I can’t imagine not eating in my car! That reminds me: I have to try out my car espresso maker in the Mini.
Hey now, as long as the driver’s seat is relatively clean, then I’m fine with everything.
you’re an all-star
Truck, not a car.
And too much junk in the way to vacuum.
@phendrick Presumably not at the level frequently documented on Just Rolled In, though…

@werehatrack No. i can usually find the quart of oil it needs for that week.

I said once a year but thats a complete clean. But if it’s really dirty then I’ll do it. For the most part, it’s just for commuting.
@ragingredd I said “once every few months,” but I must have been dreaming. It’s once a year… maybe.
Vacuuming is what money is for, among a few other things.
What car?
Golf is my hobby, so I have grass and sand in the trunk and drivers side all the time. I vacuum it out every weekend.
If you have kids you gotta vacuum often.
It gets vacuumed whenever we have to change out car seats.
I bought the unlimited interior package at the car wash place and sometimes will just do laps through the line for a while.
“any focus areas?”
“whatever you want, i’ll be back in 15 minutes”

@Star2236 I guess at this point in your life, you could ask if vacuuming your car is really that important?

I just vacuumed my trunk today. There was dirt in it from returning a few bags of pond rocks to Lowe’s.
