Watching this episode made me so mad because ARTISTS are getting screwed out of Recognition of their genuine creativity! Pinterest is now an AI platform!
Thanks Mr. Oliver for showing us a real Artist at work! Nice chainsaw work!
@jkawaguchi@sillyheathen I’ve been watching him since it started I think… The main 20-30 minute subject is always released on YouTube. So a decade ish
There’s some other quick news around it you get on hbo/max whatever
Um where did the icon/image come from for this? Oh right. AI trash …
They stole the Internet. They don’t care. They are going to make up BS and the only ones who can fight back are other giant corporations like Disney. Who were stealing before just in a less efficient way.
@ItalianScallion@OnionSoup If each next-gen AI is made by the then-current-gen AI, eventually it will devolve into Artificial Idiocracy. And much of humanity still won’t be able to tell that it’s bullshit.
@ItalianScallion@werehatrack It’s already a concern when people train AI— You can’t just scrape the internet because it’s so full of AI already— and a copy of a copy is never as good as the original.
It’s probably only a matter of time— before people start writing like AI too because we learn from it’s mannerisms—
This actually does remind me of a Y2K project where we had chained two java ad-revenue applets to feedback-loop each other and generate pennies regularly on the daily. They had to be registered to different physical addresses, but the money was generated via coupon code that could be exchanged online. This lasted a few months before the apps caught on and forced unique bank accounts as a requirement.
Regarding people writing like AI, whether you call it AI or not, about 20 years ago Microsoft Word started changing words (sometimes not the author’s intention), but it would suggest or just do style and structure changes to writing to match “corporate” expectations. Maybe not what you want to learn to be a great author.
There was a brief complaint from school English and Literature teachers. But, oh well….
@pmarin The “feature” could be turned off. It was on by default in both Office 97 and Office 2000, but they either defaulted it to “off” for 2003 or the version I have excluded it.
Also there is nothing more annoying in email than when you are trying to use straight quotes or dashes or anything that needs to be communicated exactly.
First thing in outlook is turn that garbage off. And they put it in two different places to fuck with you
This isn’t exactly AI, but this is the “noisy” future (that’s been hinted at in Back to the Future II, BladeRunner, Minority Report, et al) I expect to see sooner than later.
@narfcake I don’t know why this is showing age restricted. And it does make my point but it’s been edited to combine episodes. So I wouldn’t object to it being removed. Don’t like people editing stuff…
If people watch John they got it anyway
John Oliver would fuck that horse if he was a horse episode

@jkawaguchi his show is pretty amazing most of the time. The air traffic controller episode makes you truly question book g your next flight.

AI-generated content with a cat sitting at a bar getting drunk. Could that be the personification of the “@DrunkCat” “AI” bot?

Granted the premise of that joke is pretty simple.
But they’ve stolen everything.
But if you enjoy some cat jokes there are some classics

Rabbit holes to run down if you’ve never been
@unksol On the contrary, I’m tired of cat jokes, cat pictures, cat anything.

How do we know that that episode of John Oliver wasn’t made by AI?
@OnionSoup How do we know AI wasn’t made by AI… or is that the end game?

@OnionSoup @werehatrack Or talking to each like AI? (Be sure to listen to the end.)
@ItalianScallion @OnionSoup @werehatrack
“No, I love you more” “No, I love you more” “You hang up first.” “No, you.”

@pmarin and I immediately turned it off.

@mediocrebot that’ll do, Pig. that’ll do.

@pakopako thanks I hate it
@jouest you’re living it
It is not a popular topic here on Meh.
It is one sad little boy who is on some childish rampage against a thoroughly imagined foe here on Meh.
It’s not funny enough to be funny. And it’s not sad enough enough to be funny.
While we’re on the subject, this is the best use of generative AI that has yet been invented:
And just… Why is this john Oliver and a cat? I can’t think of a single episode that’s involved cats.
This episode has nothing to do with animals… But if you were going to include one. You would know that it would be a horse.
Because
/youtube john Oliver that horse
/youtube John Oliver fuckable horse

Who is this Al guy that people are so wound up about? Al Sharpton? Al Gore? Al Franken?
@macromeh Al Cohol. No wonder self driving cars are so sketchy.
“‘Ey, I …. “
“Well fuck. I don’t remember what I was gonna say. Fuck my brain.”
