@jouest there’s this Japanese comic called “Boku no Mana Musume” (it’s gonna be localized next year as My Devilish Little Daughter) about a single dad raising his daughter in the boonies. Early on, it has a B-plot of the father’s nephew forcing himself into the household after failing job hunting in the city; when the father refuses to take care of another kid (man-child), the nephew decides to go back to the city via taxi…
Except there’s no taxi service in the sticks. So they find a train station…
That’s miles away and, because it’s the backwoods, there’s no service by the time he hikes there.
It finally dawned on the nephew “man, life sure is different away from home”.
(Don’t mind me, I’m just idly rambling. But this is a cute series.)
@Kyeh yeah maybe six years ago or so maybe 7:00 I’m not sure it was a birthday or because it was a contest IRK. The only time I ever gotten 2 at the same time
I still use the Panasonic Eneloop Battery Power Pack. I bought a boatload of stuff prior to that, but it’s either not been used, no longer used, donated or trashed.
The purple one (the other two were presents to others). Not so disposable yet (although they are showing their age, considering they were likely already old when meh sold them).
@Kyeh mmm my woot shark pre Amazon is still here used. My 55 inch Vizio that had to be like a 2010… And still works. Cannon camera Meh spirit but before the breakfast occtopus/revival…
@Kyeh lol this was like 2010. It was questionable if it would be delivered intact. Or have dead pixeles. Cause woot. I think it was like $300-500 ?!?
I just bought it. Didn’t win it
You were there when our parents were paying for 27 inch CRTs more than that… I don’t want to bother to log into woot and I don’t expect them to store 15 year old history. But I never delete emails… I wonder…
@Kyeh oh that’s not pre bezozs. It has Amazon and links and advertising all over it. They bought the domain
I wanna say it was flat green… Iike just the product and write up… I know they changed the colors/layout and we complained but I can’t place that instance in the time frame.
I don’t use the waybackmachine often but gonna try.
You can go to (for now) web.archive.org. or google thewaybackmachine. They will have timelines and s screenshots of old websites. I couldn’t get a 2004 one load for me for woot.com. but on. My phone and a 2005 did
@Kyeh also I don’t remember seeing that tigerdirect.com sponsor line. But I definitely remember tigerdirect. Careful. May stir up too many ~40 year old nerds lol
Woot had sponsor ads even in the pre-Amazon days. I also remember shortly after TeeTurtle launched in 2012, they bought up a day’s worth of advertising on shirt.woot. The founder got his start there and was their #1 volume seller.
Also defunct: Computer City, Egghead Software, CompUSA, and Fry’s Electronics.
@Kyeh@narfcake maybe to rephrase… I haven’t bought from them in a long time and I don’t expect them to have my history… But also not necessary/id have to rest my password etc etc. probably goes back 20 years… If they do that would be… Maybe interesting. Some monkeys in there
But you’re all up in their shirts. So. If they were gonna age out inactive people… Eh. You be safe lol
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don’t think Newegg has my parts orders back 20 years.
@Kyeh probably shouldn’t. Just knowing it exists as a helpful reference/archive is probably good… I absolutely need to deal with both the kitchen and the yard. And the bathroom… And… And keep not doing it. Or sleeping. Which… Based on the timing of today’s responses on a deal forum. What’s up with YOU not sleeping? :p
@Kyeh@unksol My first order there was NOT a shirt. Nor my second. Nor my third. Nor my fourth. Nor my fifth. It actually wasn’t until my 9th order that I bought a shirt – and it wasn’t a catshirt.
@macromeh It’s a nice one, isn’t it? My mother took a shower at my house once and was envious of mine which I bought locally, so I got her this similar one, and when she started needing help to shower it proved to be really helpful because of the detachable shower head.
@heartny I mean I switch one on to go somewhere now and then but the power doesn’t go out much at all so they are just kinda in convient places… For some reason with enloops in them. At least they don’t seem to corrode lol
Multiple other knives in boxes from Slickdeals. but I did like the profile on those
My meh food saver vacuum (still used frequently) and the Gardenia comforter is still on a bed.
Use my banana boat speaker out in the woodshop still…
Copper moscow mule mug sits on a shelf above the bar.
All those are over 9 yrs old…
According to my order history, the oldest basically-continuously-used purchase was some Anker wireless earbuds, in Feb 2022. (I’d forgotten that they were such an early purchase.)
5 months younger than that is the weighted blanket that I would have claimed, if I were relying only on my own memory.
Oldest purchase showing on my orders page is two of the Targus Drifter backpacks from May 2016. I used one of them for grocery shopping via bicycle about a week ago. It’s still in outstanding shape.
Oldest purchase showing on my orders page is two of the Targus Drifter 17 " backpacks from May 2016. I used one of them for grocery shopping via bicycle about a week ago.
It’s still in like-new shape, though they are used very frequently.
Outstanding purchase at $25 each. I was surprised to see I actually paid 5 bucks separate shipping for them.
Sems like I’ve been a Member since the day I was born.
@macromeh lol I have one of those series but not from meh. Back in 2010 when had a home office. And Skype. Moved on to teams. But since it can link via Bluetooth to your cell it’s still semi useful. Even without a landline
@unksol We live in a rural area in a house with a metal roof - cell reception inside the house can be spotty (although it is less of an issue now that the newer cell phones can make WiFi calls). Plus, our house is 3 levels and I don’t want to have to pack a cell phone with me all the time at home.
Our “landline” is via Google voice (i.e., no bills).
@macromeh did google voice for a long time. Started with skype. Then ooma $99 hub for life plus 911 tax. I think my google voice is dead now/no one ever used it. But yea lol that back and forth to keep a “land line/home phone”
The need to call the house especially when kids were here… They could need 911. Etc
@unksol Funny kids/phone story:
I was at work, wife home with the kids - kids playing nicely so she decided to grab a quick shower. 3 year old son decides to call grandma - what’s the only number he knows? yep, 911. But when Grandma doesn’t answer he hangs up.
Wife had just gotten out of the shower, when the door bell rings, opens the door to a sheriff’s deputy and a game warden. They come in, look around and leave, chuckling after she explains.
Joys of parenting.
I still have a day zero shirt somewhere, but doesn’t see regular use. I still have a neoprene cover on my kindle but don’t use that very often either, and I didn’t realize the giant boxes of neoprene were so early in meh.
I guess that makes the shun knife set I got from the first birthday fuku as the oldest that I still use almost daily.
I’ve never had a reason to look back through all my orders before. Anyone remember the 10 for Tuesday sunglasses . Still have a couple. I’ll bet whoever has to cut the 4000 or so manufacturers labels of them still remembers…
I still occasionally use my first purchase, the Neo lithium-ion power tool set I bought in February 2015. The batteries died after about three years but it turned out that a TackLife power saw I bought at SideDeal had a compatible battery pack, so we’re back in operation - for now.
@narfcake - I’m not sure why I assumed all cylindrical 12 volt battery packs were pretty much identical - I bought two different TackLife saws - the one’s battery pack works in the Neo, the other one’s doesn’t fit the Neo OR the other TackLife saw?!?
Wow, thanks @narfcake! I can’t turn down THAT offer. The compatible one was the Tacklife 12V 2A Cordless Mini Circular Saw.
As hopefully you can see from the pictures, the packs are pretty basic tri-battery ones with a contact on each face. There are two grooves on one end that slot into the handle of the tool, but presumably the pack’s triangular form would hold itself in place without the grooves, provided the indent at bottom is in the right place (it isn’t on the other Tacklife.)
I was gonna say my cordless vacuum or ninja smoothie blender I got in an irk but purchase wise I think it’s AirPods I still use. I probably have way better ones from irks sitting in the basement but they still work and I’m picky about how stuff fits in my ears. My account has been deleted so many times by accident so I have no way of looking up my old purchases.
September 16, 2016: I purchased a refurbished Foodsaver Vacuum Sealing System. I still use it regularly! Hums right along, doing it’s job flawlessly after 9 years!! Mrs. H. still comments that it might be the best purchase I have ever made from Meh!
/showme a battered Tacklife T6 800 Amp Portable Jump Starter Kit saving me in an empty parking lot once again

@pakopako this is kind of a vibe, though
My Ninja blender that came in and work. Not just the blender the whole setup with the spiralizer that I have never used and the chopper
@Cerridwyn You got that in an Irk? Wow!
@Kyeh yeah maybe six years ago or so maybe 7:00 I’m not sure it was a birthday or because it was a contest IRK. The only time I ever gotten 2 at the same time
@Cerridwyn Excellent!
Well it would be the fleet of IRK bags
I still use the Panasonic Eneloop Battery Power Pack. I bought a boatload of stuff prior to that, but it’s either not been used, no longer used, donated or trashed.
My day zero shirt!
April 12th 2016 12:02am ET, a couple of meh tumblers. I only have one now, but it’s still in the rotation.
@therealjrn see this is why we’re always sending two of things.
The purple one (the other two were presents to others). Not so disposable yet (although they are showing their age, considering they were likely already old when meh sold them).

@Kidsandliz
Why were they disposable?
@Star2236 Absolutely no idea. Must’ve been a meh joke.
Those two black and white, not smiling, throw pillows.
I was going to say my Shark PRO Cordless Vacuum, but then I realized I bought that on Sidedeal. So probably these great bowls with lids:
And then there’s the shower head I bought for my mother, which has gotten lots of use:
@Kyeh mmm my woot shark pre Amazon is still here used. My 55 inch Vizio that had to be like a 2010… And still works. Cannon camera Meh spirit but before the breakfast occtopus/revival…

Oh, wow - lucky you!
@Kyeh lol this was like 2010. It was questionable if it would be delivered intact. Or have dead pixeles. Cause woot. I think it was like $300-500 ?!?
I just bought it. Didn’t win it

@unksol Oh, I did figure you’d paid for it, but I was still impressed.
@Kyeh correction. It was a 47 inch. A bargain basement refurbished 1080p. You should not be impressed
https://www.woot.com/offers/vizio-47-led-1080p-flat-screen-hdtv. I don’t see a price.
I looked up the model. Haven’t used it in years
Also with the cats obsession with destroying electronics… I don’t see anything directly on it and they did accidentally turn it on q few months ago.
Someone has destroyed a monitor worth more and caused lines on its replacements.
But as far as I know it’s still functional
We got to play our NES/Atari on a 10 in bw. In our room. And the house color tv on weekends
If I had kids and they had their own 47 inch 1080p to watch Disney on… Play games. Lol. Just saying. She is still going…
Also go pick up sticks so I can mow. And we can have a fire tonight
@unksol That was interesting to me to see an old pre-Besos Woot page, I’ve never seen one before.
@Kyeh oh that’s not pre bezozs. It has Amazon and links and advertising all over it. They bought the domain
I wanna say it was flat green… Iike just the product and write up… I know they changed the colors/layout and we complained but I can’t place that instance in the time frame.

@Kyeh also I don’t remember seeing that tigerdirect.com sponsor line. But I definitely remember tigerdirect. Careful. May stir up too many ~40 year old nerds lol
@unksol Oh, huh. Thanks, I shouldn’t dive into all that but of course I probably will, instead of cleaning up my kitchen or yard.
@Kyeh @unksol
@Kyeh @narfcake maybe to rephrase… I haven’t bought from them in a long time and I don’t expect them to have my history… But also not necessary/id have to rest my password etc etc. probably goes back 20 years… If they do that would be… Maybe interesting. Some monkeys in there

@Kyeh I bought the same shower head and installed it in the master bath. Still works great.
@narfcake @unksol Shocker!
@macromeh It’s a nice one, isn’t it? My mother took a shower at my house once and was envious of mine which I bought locally, so I got her this similar one, and when she started needing help to shower it proved to be really helpful because of the detachable shower head.
@unksol Oh, I sleep, I just have an unorthodox sleep schedule.
I mean… In active weekly/sometimes daily use

I’m annoyed can’t find my Kershaw g10 that was a nice watch pocket knife. Had 2
https://meh.com/forum/topics/2-for-tuesday-kershaw-g-10-knives
The lanterns are still in use in that they Are located around the house but never needed
https://meh.com/forum/topics/2-for-tuesday-eveready-compact-led-area-lights
The last 5 years just seem to have evaporated… Time is slipping … Keeps on slipping.
Sorry no speaker docks
@unksol I’m still using those lanterns too. I have a Kershaw Valmara 3480 that’s still in its box.
@heartny I mean I switch one on to go somewhere now and then but the power doesn’t go out much at all so they are just kinda in convient places… For some reason with enloops in them. At least they don’t seem to corrode lol
Multiple other knives in boxes from Slickdeals. but I did like the profile on those
Does the community count?
@brainmist it’s meh any I bought this cause of you is at least reminiscing lol
@brainmist Definitely!
I’ve had my VMP Mehmbership purchase in service since 2014. That seems like a long time.
@heartny in 7 more years they go to university
Kaloric air fryer, which was one of our first purchases here. Neither the best nor the worst such unit we’ve seen.
Vordnado Heater from 2016.
My wife keeps the house too damn cold in the winter so it just stays by my desk
@capnjb well she’s def a keeper
@unksol That’s what she tells me
25 years next month
@capnjb @unksol
We hit 48 on labor day this yr. Certainly one of my better decisions in life.
@chienfou @unksol Incredible! Congrats my friend!
@capnjb @unksol
Thanks
Bubbas from 2016.
Also an Onkyo receiver/speaker set.

Panasonic Link2Cell Bluetooth Phone System (Refurbished)

@macromeh fascinating
/giphy mirror Spock fascinating

@macromeh technically have a landline cause DSL. And all the work meeting calls are on teams. The after hour fix it calls hit the cell lol

Most of my post pandemic purchases were food
Some of the gear included the Ninja pressure fryer (had to replace the pot and gaskets) and some UV lights that are my seasonal affective disorder solution (aka snow-time anti-depression lights)
https://meh.com/forum/topics/2-pack-circadian-optics-leo-uv-free-full-spectrum-led-therapy-lights
Oh, I have an IRK from July 2023 that was a giant outdoor radiation heater. It didn’t see any action until winter 2024, but man did I need it.
(On occasion I see Belvita banana bread cakes from 2022. A little stale, but not moldy. Or conversational.)
From April of 2017, these two for Tuesday bidets. And they both still work just fine.

I’ve never had a reason to look back through all my orders before. Anyone remember the 10 for Tuesday sunglasses . Still have a couple. I’ll bet whoever has to cut the 4000 or so manufacturers labels of them still remembers…
@ergomeh
Yes I do remember. Didn’t order tho.
I still regularly entrust my life to an item I bought here almost eight years ago…
I still occasionally use my first purchase, the Neo lithium-ion power tool set I bought in February 2015. The batteries died after about three years but it turned out that a TackLife power saw I bought at SideDeal had a compatible battery pack, so we’re back in operation - for now.
@aetris My personal concern way back then was “where will I get replacement batteries?”, hence passing on buying them.
I do wonder if any of the current 12V “off-brand” tool batteries will fit them.
@narfcake - I’m not sure why I assumed all cylindrical 12 volt battery packs were pretty much identical - I bought two different TackLife saws - the one’s battery pack works in the Neo, the other one’s doesn’t fit the Neo OR the other TackLife saw?!?
@aetris Tacklife probably had different suppliers making their tools.
If you can post up some pics of the ones that do fit, both top and side views, I might be able to narrow down some other sources.
Wow, thanks @narfcake! I can’t turn down THAT offer. The compatible one was the Tacklife 12V 2A Cordless Mini Circular Saw.

Just checked my orders and the oldest order still in use is my first order. It was purchased on 2015-01-01 and I just wore it again a few weeks ago.
September 16, 2016: I purchased a refurbished Foodsaver Vacuum Sealing System. I still use it regularly! Hums right along, doing it’s job flawlessly after 9 years!! Mrs. H. still comments that it might be the best purchase I have ever made from Meh!
@tohar1
I bought a backup on a separate order, which I ended up giving away because mine was humming along so well…
