Brothers In Arms” (by Dire Straits) was mentioned by @haydesigner as a potential “perfect song” within @blaineg’s topic

/youtube brothers in arms dire straits.

OK, that’s a very respectable nomination

But that mentioned “perfect song” category didn’t mention a music genre and so that’s a lot of room for great songs within the world history of music.

And there are damn lot of good songs (and I’m v happy about that).

Criteria: you never get tired of hearing it

(Also having a great bass line helps)

Some very obvious non rock and roll contenders might be

/youtube “over the rainbow” Judy garland

/youtube stardust Aaron Neville

/youtube “ode to joy” Beethoven

If we narrow down to just popular music or rock we still have so damned many options or perfection or near perfection

Some very obvious very famous possibilities might be

/youtube Beatles ticket to ride

/youtube Beatles come together

/youtube Rolling Stones gimme shelter

/youtube clash London calling.

/youtube nirvana “come as you are” acoustic

/youtube Hendrix “star spangled” banner

/youtube Motown heard it through the grapevine

/youtube Wichita lineman

/youtube queen “radio ga-ga” live aid 1985

/youtube “take me to the River” “more songs about buildings and food”

So what are your prefs for some perfect songs or near perfect songs?

Whether these songs are “we’ve heard that one way too much” or “super deep cut” or in between?

Dig out the nostalgia

Dig out your kid and teenage memories.

What song do you love every time you hear it no matter how often?

/youtube they’re coming to take me away

/youtube “cool water” “sons of the pioneers”

/youtube Rihanna Umbrella

/youtube Johnny Horton “battle of New Orleans”

/youtube Springsteen “thunder road” acoustic

Sometimes for us we love a song but also love a certain killer performance version of a great song

Holst the planets/i vow to thee my country

/youtube Kennedy center Adam lambert believe

/youtube prince “while my guitar gently weeps”

/youtube Eve Cassidy “time after time”

Ok so please share yours.

(If no one responds I’ll be embarrassed and have retreat in shame or something)
