1x Sharper Image by Vornado AXIS 12 Desktop USB Airbar Tower Fan
Used mine for the first time this afternoon, with a power bank I bought on Meh, when the temp outside was 102 (78 inside) and the power went out. It’s pretty quiet and makes a good breeze. I had a lantern I got on Meh on standby in case it got dark before the power came back on. Meh to the rescue!
It’s been really useful for helping ventilate my computer under my desk. Its shape can make it fit into a lot of tight places, including on top of my computer’s case, so I was able to put it where it’s pointed out and away from me. Then I plugged its power cord directly into my computer and have it where I can reach down and turn it on if hot air is starting to build up underneath.
This deal downplays the “by Vornado” bit, but I think that’s worth noting. They make really good fans.
I hope people keep sleeping on these so meh drops the price more and I can stock up on a few more of them. I don’t need any more atm, so I think I can hold out for sub-$10, but they make great coolers for electronics, drive and computer racks. The worst things are the the touch controls, permanent power cord, and the motor whine… Which I understand are all money saving choices, allowing them to sell this cheap, so can’t hate too much.
In my use of it the fan noise isn’t so bad, like it’s about as loud running on low as my computer is at idle and easily gets drowned out by computer if I’m playing a game.
…Er, uh, what I MEANT to say is that this thing sounds like a goddamn jet engine!

@ItalianScallion I gave this to my kiddo and he loves it! It was $2 cheaper on Meh, but I might grab another anyway.
I bought this when it was $10 back in February:

@bobthenormal “permanent” power cord? Is this the same bar fan that’s on sale? (USB-C power port so even a phone might be able to turn it on)
Ah, no looking down, the USB-ended power cord is indeed attached to the bar.
I really thought there was a USB-C input on the bar itself
