It sounds so quaint to say out loud in this day and age, but … the radio! We have a great local station that often plays music I’m unfamiliar with so I’m frequently looking up the artist and adding them to my playlists.
Autotune this.
I find new music mostly in the trash, where IMO it pretty well belongs.
Sing? Not these people. That trend started even before Miley.
Even new country singers now have voices that don’t hold up to those of their horses.
Of course, I was spoiled by the likes of Peter, Paul & Mary, Mama Cass, The Beach Boys, Roy Orbison, Linda Ronstadt, Tom Jones, Barbra Streisand.
Even Madonna could at least carry a tune.
@phendrick Btw, this horse can’t sing worth a damn, but he plays a little acoustic guitar if you ask nicely. (But seriously, if you ever need a quick smile, watch this guy’s YouTube shorts where he sings to every kind of animal you can think of – it’s amazing!)
Spotify used to be really good at recommending bands to me based on what albums I listened to, but now it’s flooded with fake AI garbage music and I’m back to asking friends what they enjoy.
Best place it to get out and experience live venues. In the last two weekends, we’ve attended a 35th Anniversary Rockabilly Revue, A blues concert with Ally Venable and Walter Trout, last night a hard rock concert with Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters, and next weekend the symphony… it just pays to get out and see and hear live performances!
I’ve been a YT Music subscriber for many years, so that gives me a lot of it. I also follow some Stoner Rock FB pages that have given me plenty of good recs.
My kids! I even like a lot of it.

@jcpseattle
Thank you. I love the radio
Radio, YouTube, Spotify, friends and coworkers, and seeing new bands play live!
Movie soundtracks.
I mostly find ‘new-to-me’ music that others are playing on the jukebox at the bar.
