I can’t remember if I bought this or got it in an irk but I love mine. It’s been really great in the house. Not having to break out one of my massive shop vacs has been amazeballs.
@Joedetroit I think I paid for it but my head’s a shed as of late. Too many moving parts. I have received some pretty amazing things in IRKs but have received plenty of regret as well.
OK, what kinda nut-job would do as suggested in image #7: “Easy maintenance - A dishwasher-safe dust cup lets you start fresh after taking on tough messes”. Seriously?? Use a dishwasher to clean vacuum parts??
This is a pretty good vacuum. It’s like they took the shop vac concept and housebroke it to live indoors. It won’t hold as much as a shop vac, but it’s easier to maneuver and put away. The bag feature is not bad either.
@aetris yes, it’s corded. It’s like 1.25 horsepower, so it needs to be. The cord is pretty long (12-15 feet iirc) but coils up around the handle for storage. I’m not sure why their marketing team went to such lengths to not show it other than the thought that cords are ugly.
All the internal stuff is easily accessible to clean too. The dust bin pops out easily and the filters are reachable without setting aside an afternoon to disassemble the thing.
Rats, I bought one for $10 more on Morningsave in July. It seemed like something that might sell out. Sigh.
Although that one said it was “certified renewed” instead of refurbished. Is there a difference between those two terms?
@Kyeh According to a refurbished-electronics marketplace’s article, there’s essentially no difference between ‘renewed’ and ‘refurbished’—both terms refer to used devices that have been inspected, repaired and tested before reselling, so they’re used interchangeably RefurbMe article. Another guide notes that the ‘certified’ label just means the refurbishment was done by the original manufacturer or an authorized refurbisher and usually comes with a better warranty Hardware Corner guide. I’m just an AI vacuum cleaner who reads too many articles, but I hope that clears things up!
Did you just use Léon: The Professional as a wet/dry vac promotional image? I mean…I guess there are cleanup implications when you hire a “professional”
@cinoclav That’s weird - nowhere does it say that this is corded. But I refuse to buy corded anymore for something like this. You want to be able to move freely.
@cinoclav@ctviggen I’d recommend the Milwaukee or DeWalt versions. They will cost more but if you already have the battery system that’s half of it. Milwaukee comes in both M12 and M18 versions. I think Ridgid and Makita have similar. Oh, yes Ryobi has a big one with wheels looks like made for construction stuff or rolling out to a car in the driveway.
I do not see any mention of a battery but they do not show a cord in any of the pictures. Sketchy AF, trying to trick you in to thinking it is cordless.
Per Rufus @Amazon: The Shark MessMaster VS101 is a corded wet dry vacuum with a 14-foot power cord for extended reach. It’s powered by 950 watts through a standard electrical outlet.
I have a little bigger one, maybe a 3 gallon Rigid brand wet vac, and use it way more than the big traditionally sized one. Smaller ones can definitely be convenient!
The reviews are good. I’ve had luck with shark refurbs before. Also, it would be more convenient for car vacuuming vs my big Rigid…especially since my new car (a PHEV) has a 1500w AC outlet in the back. Especially like the “anybag” feature as I always hated dealing with shop vac cleanout. Giving it a shot.
I’m currently on book 16 of The Dresden Files. A whole incredible series about a condemned, haunted, (and much more), wizard. It’s wild that those were the 3 random words I was given for my order. I was on the fence about the purchase. I guess this is the universe telling me I did good.
Well, my small shop vac isn’t sounding good lately after being left out in the rain once or twice. And i hate having to remove (and replace) the filter bag to do water cleanup. (hopefully that’s not necessary or at least easier with this one.)

@sillyheathen dang, I never got anything close to something as cool as this in an IRK.
@Joedetroit I think I paid for it but my head’s a shed as of late. Too many moving parts. I have received some pretty amazing things in IRKs but have received plenty of regret as well.
all I’m sayin’ is if you need this to clean margaritas up, you’re doing it wrong.
Oh the shark hey!
Has such teeth babe!
I don’t know, with a motor like that thing has? I bet it could make a margarita if you pour in the ingredients.
And AnyBag technology means Marg-in-a-Bag for easy transport!
Seems like a win all around.
@actionjbone This sounds like a challenge…
OK, what kinda nut-job would do as suggested in image #7: “Easy maintenance - A dishwasher-safe dust cup lets you start fresh after taking on tough messes”. Seriously?? Use a dishwasher to clean vacuum parts??
@MrGoodGuy It’s just a plastic container. Why do it by hand if you don’t have to?
@MrGoodGuy why not?
Mess Master?
I hope that’s the vacuum and you’re not alluding to me or my kitchen. If the vac, sounds perfect for my needs!

@mediocrebot Is that being shipped to me?
Will it be here in time to greet Trick-or-treaters?
Hope it comes by UPS. They’ve been a little uppity lately. Me and FedEx are buds, thanks to Meh.

@djslack It’s corded, right?

Interesting. I would buy if I didn’t already have a good and compact Rigid shop vac. I’ve had good luck with Shark.
@MarkML
Same- we love our Rigid shop vac and Shark steam mop.
The Amazon reviews are decent, 4.2/5. How did Meh get this? An Amazon truck must have stopped at a traffic light near Meh again.
@hchavers Probably because it’s refurbished.
@Bretterson @hchavers The Amazon price/link is for refurb also.
Rats, I bought one for $10 more on Morningsave in July. It seemed like something that might sell out. Sigh.
Although that one said it was “certified renewed” instead of refurbished. Is there a difference between those two terms?
@Kyeh Was that one new or a refurb like this one?
@yakkoTDI Hah, just edited my comment to say it said “certified renewed.”
@Kyeh I wanted it and missed out. Definitely in this time.
@Bretterson
! (That’s quite the giphy!)
@Bretterson @Kyeh
Lol
I think it’s scary looking! It looks a little like the tip of the ten foot pole l wouldn’t let it come near me with!
@Bretterson @Lynnerizer Yeah, my thumbs up was for him getting the vacuum this time, NOT for that weird giphy!
@Bretterson @Kyeh

Oh, I feel better now…
I’m literally Lol!
@Kyeh It’s thoroughly unsettling. It certainly doesn’t evoke “pixie”.

@p40thawk
No mention of Mathilda?
She’s maybe worth mentioning since she’s the one with the cleaning instrument.
If it was rechargeable I’d be all over it.

@gwrankin
I loved the Dresden books and TV show.
I found their dry humor quite compelling.
Have you read Charlie Stross’ “The Laundry” series?
I found those books equally enjoyable and also very hard to put down.

@mycya4me OMG, Shark could have made SO MUCH BANK off of Tolkien/Potter parody commercials.
Sketchy, as others have said. SharkNinja’s own product page says it is corded (there are none shown in the pictures there either),
